Earnings Report: Allergan Inc. Q1 Earnings Skyrocket to More than Double from Last Year Allergan Inc. (NYSE:AGN) announced its Q1 earnings Friday, showing a massive jump from last year's $44.7 million, or $0.15 per share, to this quarter's $168 million, or $0.55 per share. Revenues increased 11% to $1.15 billion, versus ***yst predictions of $1.11 billion, or $0.60 per share. Allergan's adjusted earnings for the fiscal year lies between $3.11-$3.15 per share. The company expects adjusted earnings for Q2 to be in the range of $0.79-$0.81, on revenue of $1.19 billion-$1.23 billion. Shares of Allergan are trading up 2.74% at $63.68.

Highrise Fire Guts Beijing Mandarin Oriental Hotel (2009) An unfinished Beijing hotel was on Monday destroyed by a fire that broke out amid holiday fireworks celebrations. The Mandarin Oriental hotel caught fire sometime before 9:00 pm local time (1300 GMT) on Monday night as the skies of the Chinese capital were filled with fireworks celebrating the lantern festival. There were no reports of deaths or injuries resulting from the fire. The entire building hotel was engulfed in flames, sending off huge plumes of black smoke and showering the ground below with embers. At least seven fire crews were on the scene and police held back crowds of onlookers. The hotel, due to open this year, lies on the northern edge of a complex that also includes CCTV's imposing Z-shaped headquarters, a major prestige project for the city. The Mandarin Oriental was due to be one of Beijing's most luxurious hotels, with 241 guest rooms. Both buildings were designed by Rotterdam, Netherlands, architects Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren for the firm OMA. Both were nearing the end of construction. Along with Mandarin Oriental, the hotel building was to have housed a visitors centre, a theatre and exhibition spaces. Beijing usually tightly restricts the use of fireworks in the downtown area, but waives the rules each year during the Lunar New Year holiday. Monday, the final day of the exemption period, marked the first full moon since the Lunar New Year, and massive fireworks barrages exploded between buildings and in open spaces throughout the city.

Time Lapse 02 So after a long day of learning, I decided to take the night off. It was a risky choice, seeing as the idea of bludging is a major no no for HSC students, but I guess it was worth it.
