  • Let's Play Wizardry 1, Part #1 - Party Like It's 1981 (or 1992) This video is also available at; Apart from Richard Garriot's original "Ultima", no RPG game in history is more important or influential than Andrew C. Greenberg and Robert Woodhead's "Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord" from 1981. In this LP I play the excellent Japanese SNES remake from 1992 with the English fan translation patch by Aeon Genesis. (In case you're wondering about the naming of the characters, please keep in mind that the party members are all of Evil alignment...;) Lots of great info about playing Wizardry 1 can be found at: www.tk421.net Another useful Internet guide: A text-only walkthrough: A rather interesting ***ysis of the narrative structure (or rather lack thereof) in Wizardry 1:

  • Wizardry - PC DOS gameplay A few minutes of gameplay from the DOS version of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. This game came out originally in 1981, but the basic gameplay has remained unchanged and found its way into many games right up to the present day (Etrian Odyssey is essentially Wizardry with a graphics upgrade). Still, there's something particularly pleasing about the simple visuals on display here. A few notes on what's going on; This is a low-level party (mostly 3s). We start in the castle and go into the maze. The priest casts a light spell (MILWA) to give a better range of vision. You had to type out the names of the spells you wanted to cast, and if you wanted to try disarming a trap you had to type out the exact type of the trap too. Levels are gained by resting at the inn when you have enough EXP. you can get old and die in this game, so it's best not to spend too much time recuperating!
  • Shoulder Workout Wizardry - Front and Side Delt Training At ONCE! Two of the biggest staple exercises of any "shoulder workout" are "front and side delt raises". The reason being is that they are effective for targeting the particular head of the deltoid and developing shoulder strength and size. That said, the fact that both have to be done individually means that you are extending your workout longer than it has to be....at least now with AthLEAN-X you won't have to keep doing this! You can now do front and side delt training at once! With this combo deltoid destroyer you can be sure that you're targeting both heads of the delts at one time. But that's not enough. You see...often times there is a lot of confusion around about how to properly perform the side lateral raise. "Tilt your pinky higher than your thumb is what you hear". Watch as I dispel that myth and hopefully save your shoulders in the process. Then, after you've seen how creative and effective your shoulder training can become with just one simple exercise....head over to http and get the entire 90 day training program that shows you step by step how to train like the pros! • Wizardry Empire (PlayStation) (2000) (StarFish) I know very little about the "Wizardry Empire" series, but since there are apparently Empire games for both GBC, PSX, PS2 and PSP I guess that says something about the Japanese affection for everything even remotely related to the "Wizardry" franchise. The graphical style is a bit more Anime than Medieval in "Empire" but the basic gameplay seem very similar to an early, pre-Bradley PC Wizardry game. The first person perspective dungeon exploration is certainly intact and the town menu looks closely modeled on the towns in Wizardry 1-3 (temple, inn, trading post, training grounds etc.).

Admittedly, this is far from a perfect remake of Sir-Tech's classic (it's more buggy than the original Wizardry 7, features some questionable art design choices and suffers from a bland, cumbersome Windows 95 interface), but it nonetheless deserves to be properly represented here on YouTube. A notable improvement over Wizardry 7 is the inclusion of voice acting, and in this video I've squeezed in several early examples of the grave narrator (credited as "Mr Jack") reading the familiar and somewhat convoluted text descriptions which are so characteristic of Wizardry 6 and 7.

  • Wizardry Exposed (part 2) The government finds out that the Russo family are wizards, and takes them into custody to find out more. Max and Alex are both interrogated by Agent Lambwood and Scientist 1, but both refuse to say anything. When Justin is interrogated, he is tricked into thinking that aliens are going to attack so he reveals that he is a wizard and that they have a wizard lair. Meanwhile, Harper is trying to find out how to contact the wizard world to inform them of the Russo's abduction, she tells Mason who decides to go through the portal to find help. The government raids the wizard world and captures many wizards, including Professor Crumbs and Chancellor Rudy Tootietooie as well as Mason. The Russo family escape their cell and learn that all magic has been switched off. With the help of a magic cooty catcher given by Professor Crumbs, Alex casts a spell duplicating their family three times so they can think of a plan to escape. Scientist 1 helps the Russo family, Mason, and Rooty Tooty Tooty escape telling them that Agent Lambwood is crazy because they are supposed to be researching Lizards not Wizards. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as the Russo family wonder what to do and whether Alex is right in saying they should reveal to the world that wizards exist to save their fellow wizards.
  • Wizardry 7: Tower of Dane (the Big DOS Battles Tour) I know this tour is supposed to evoke memories of the good ol' times and positive emotions in general, but I guess whoever ventured into Dionysceus, the great Tower of Dane, might feel slightly nauseous and short of breath while watching this. I believe this maze belongs to the three places in Wizardry 7 that require the most patience (and paper to draw maps): Tower of Dane, Rattkin Ruins, everything beyond the Chamber of Gorrors. This video covers the final stages of the Tower. First we meet two members of an endangered species, which is promptly rid of the attribute "endangered". Don't let their quick death fool you into underestimating them. I was just lucky this time. After that the party gets invited by Magna Dane, the almighty honcho of all Dane, for a friendly party-party match to death on the doorstep of The One. Surprisingly, Magna Dane comes in the package of one even in expert mode. His fellows might turn you into a deceased you pretty quickly though. Mass-effect spells are priceless in this battle. Next stop on the tour: The Chamber of Gorrors. Tremble in fear.

  • Let's Play Wizardry 7, Part #1 - Chest Pains A short clip a few minutes into my very first gaming session ever with "Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant". Here the party finds a very important Journey Map Kit and defeats two low-level enemies. Please note that I'm not going to keep all those pathetic Base classes (fighters, thief) for the rest of the game. Since switching classes helped me acquire an abundance of new spells and skill points in W6, this is also supposed to be a very "dual class"-heavy party in which every character is going to switch professions more than once during the course of the game. The plan is to eventually end up with only Elite classes such as Valkyries, Ninjas, Samurais and Bishops. If anyone wants great walkthroughs and maps for Wizardry 7, check out the following links: Tom Needham's (1994) Walkthrough: www.tk421.net Leo Wang's (2000) Walkthrough: www.the- Wizardry 7 Forum (amazing resource!): Kitten's Tips & Tricks: .au A great combined world map and dungeon map is available (as a .zip archive) at: Also, Feiwill and ramenandsleep have some excellent Wizardry VII videos here on YouTube:
  • Harry Potter Film Wizardry book marauder's map comparison Not a very in depth comparison but I think you can get the picture. The smaller maps while they could hold all the same information as the big one always seem to be a bit different but to me thats expected as they are usually with another item as a bonus and the big map is sold separately, still it would have been a treat to have a exact duplicate in mini form. The maps are still very cool. In this video I am comparing them for the first time so there is a bit of fumbling (sorry) and for all intense purpose you can just about find all the information in them if you look hard and do some funky folds to find them but in the end the map is still missing some portions of Hogwarts.

  • Matt Chat 29: Wizardry This week we look at one of the earliest computer role-playing games, Sir-Tech's Wizardry. Wizardry was quite influential, paving the way for party-based CRPGs like The Bard's Tale, Might & Magic, Pool of Radiance, and many more. It was also popular in Japan and inspired several prominent JRPG series. It's also noteworthy for its first-person perspective, prestige classes, colorful monsters, and mappable dungeons. Enjoy!

  • Wizardry 7: the Dark Savant (the Big DOS Battles Tour) The "final" battle of this immensely complex and huge game. I say "final", because the game actually doesn't end by your victory here, although this is probably the last boss you get to fight. The storyline leads you a bit further, but I'll leave the (slightly surprising) conclusion for you to reveal/recall. The Dark Savant (or, in expert mode, Dark Savants - which is kind of funny in case of the central figure of the storyline) isn't a tough guy, as you can see. Or at least not for a ~70lvl party. A few maps before this dungeon there's a voluntary set of unique bosses ("Gorrors"), one of whom tends to be far beyond your abilities when you first get to him. I lingered around a while and exp'd up to be able to beat him. After that, the Dark Savant becomes a nanny's puppy. If you're a fan of PC oldies and haven't yet played the game, I suggest you do so. Calling it just another square-step dungeon crawler is like calling an F1 just another form of wheel. It took me years of re-trying to finish the game and I can tell you those were playhours of finest-quality fun. Both pure RP-gamers and powergamers will definitely be satisfied. An abandonware fan should also get acquainted with these channels (thank you both for inspiration!): Stay tuned for more on Wizardry 7!
  • [Apple II] Wizardry - Scenario #1 - Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (1981) (SirTech) Wizardry I for the Apple II, published way back in 1980 by SirTech. The other major influence on Dragon Quest, Wizardry was a huge hit in Japan, moreso than it was in the US. The series is still going strong over there with the same gameplay as in the original five games, whereas Wizardry VI - VIII completely revamped the gameplay in the west.
