5/22/2010 Violent Tornado in Edmunds County South Dakota May 22, 2010 - High Def footage of a violent wedge tornado hit north central South Dakota on Saturday evening near the small town of Bowdle, SD. Video starts out with a Cone tornado about a mile away. Chris Collura is recording the tornado in the second clip while taking cover in a ditch as winds gusting to over 70 miles as the rear flank downdraft of the tornadoes winds hit the area while other chasers drive towards the large tornado. Video continues with a side POV shot while driving as a huge tornado is just a half mile away. The rest of the footage shows a huge wedge tornado with close-up shots of the side of the tornado with debris flying in the air with a pull back show to show the whole tornado. The Wedge south swell at the wedge Bodysurfer dies at wedge The explosive "Wedge" surf break in Newport Beach has left generations of daredevils with broken bones and concussions. On Friday, with waves topping 20 feet, it killed a man -- a rare death at a place that would seem to invite it. An unidentified bodysurfer was thrown against the rock jetty that produces the Wedge's outsized waves at about 12:30 pm Newport Beach lifeguards pulled him aboard their boat and he later died at nearby Hoag Memorial Hospital, authorities said. Large waves pound south-facing beaches "There was a relatively small group of bodysurfers and boarders in the water," said Jim Turner, a Newport Beach lifeguard battalion chief. "On the shore, there were in excess of a thousand spectators." A high-surf warning has been in effect for Southern California. Lifeguards along the coast reported a higher than average number of rescues Friday and were bracing for more of the same today and Sunday. "We're advising all beachgoers to talk to lifeguards to find out where that safe place is to swim," said Orange County lifeguard Capt. Terry Harvey. "We are prepared for a busy weekend." Despite its fierce reputation, the Wedge's lifeguard tower is generally shuttered. But on Friday, Turner said lifeguards were on duty there and a patrol boat was stationed offshore. Betty's Oven Baked Potato Wedges In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make her terrific Oven Baked Potato Wedges. These are wedges cut from baked potatoes, dipped in melted butter, and then crisped in the oven. Delicious! Ingredients: 4 to 6 medium baking potatoes, washed and dried ½ to 1 stick butter, melted (I used 1 stick butter in the video, but I think the recipe will be better with only about ½ stick butter—and less fat calories, too!) sea salt, to taste freshly ground black peppercorns, to taste Wrap 4 to 6 medium baking potatoes individually in aluminum foil. Bake in 400-degree oven for approximately 1 hour (until almost done, but still a little firm). Remove potatoes from oven and from foil. Let cool until they are easy to handle. Divide each baked potato in half and then cut each half into 3 wedges. Dip in melted butter, and place in an oven-proof baking dish in a single layer, if possible. Grind sea salt over the top of all the potato wedges, and then grind black peppercorns over the top, to taste. Place the dish of potato wedges back in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. When crisp and tender, remove from oven. (I turned my oven to broil for the last minute or so, in order to get the potato wedges crispier.) Serve immediately, while hot. These are wonderful with grilled steak or chicken! I hope you enjoy them!!! --Betty 
