  • Anthony Concepcion Mother Nature Needs A Helping Hand Anthony's Environmental Science Lab Presentation. Lyrics: Now ladies and gentlemen, can you believe people continue to litter? As a matter of fact, even you and I have been a sinner. But since I've enrolled in Leslie Hendon's class (Leslie Hendon's class), I decided to become a winner. So I went to East Birmingham to our man-made lake to pick up some of our man-made mistakes, hoping by example mankind's environmental consciousness will wake. Spoken: You wouldn't believe what I found out there: men's underwear, belts, and shoes. Clues, clues to our apathy. And I picked up hundreds of Walmart bags. I found bunches of cigarette fags. I found many a beer can. If only I had a helping hand. I need a helping hand. And as I waded through... WADED through the ecological pandemonium, I even had to pick up a dirty used condom. I need a helping hand. Professor Hendon needs a helping hand. Mother Nature needs a helping hand. When will people understand about the helping hand?

  • Woman Has Sores On Her Body After Wading into Mobile Bay several weeks after the BP Oil spil This video is from a Woman who has sore on her body.... Toxins from BP? Her story below: I waded in Mobile Bay near Gulf Shores Alabama on May 8, 2010. The following days I had sores and blisters form on my body. A BP Oil claims adjuster from the Orange Beach Al office, stated I need to prove this "RASH" was caused by the oil spill or chemicals that BP Oil released into the Gulf of Mexico. The claims adjuster was formerly a real estate agent, who recently became an adjuster. Has reviewed my blood test results and determined nothing in the lab results indicated a relationship between my illness and the BP Oil spill. Today is 41 days since I became ill, and to date they accept no responsibility. • Deportees (The plane wreck at Los Gatos) cover - Daniel Cohen In my opinion one of the best songs ever written. that "all of my friends are falling like dry leaves" line always gives me the chills. here are the full lyrics (not that I sang em all): The crops are all in and the peaches are rotting, The oranges are packed in their creosote dumps. They're flying 'em back to the Mexico border To take all their money to wade back again. Goodbye to my Juan, goodbye Rosalita, Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria. You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane, All they will call you will be "deportees." My father's own father, he waded that river. They took all the money he made in his life. My brothers and sisters came workin' the fruit trees, They rode the big trucks 'till they laid down and died. Goodbye to my Juan, goodbye Rosalita, Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria. You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane, All they will call you will be "deportees." The skyplane caught fire over Los Gatos Canyon, A fireball of lightnin' an' it shook all the hills. Who are these comrades, they're dying like the dry leaves? The radio tells me, "They're just deportees." We died in your hills and we died in your deserts, We died in your valleys, we died in your plains. We died 'neath your trees and we died 'neath your bushes, Both sides of the river we died just the same. Goodbye to my Juan, goodbye Rosalita, Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria. • Trumpeter Emden Graupner R/C mini submarine 1966 I built my 1st. model submarine.Bought the plan from MAP model aeronautical press plans service for 2shillings and 6 pence. It was made from hard balsa sealed with 7 coats of banana oil and a final covering of tissue. Then 4 coats of dark admiralty grey humbrol paint. It had 2 hydroplanes. The forward 1 on a spring giving it a slight downward angle.An18 inch piece of piano wire witha plastic tab was used as the depth limiter. It would dive to the level of the plastic tab when water pressure from the forward movement of the sub would make it surface. When the tab broke surface the spring would return the hydroplane to the down trim and it would dive again.First time I used it in Queens Park model boat pond, on its 3rd dive it didn't come up.I could hear the motor running for another 11/2 hours as I waded around the pond with my ear in the water trying to locate it. 2 years later I was at the pond with an rc MTBIt was an absolutely still day.Not a ripple on the pond.I was looking out to where I remembered my submarine going down for the last time and amongst the branches and leaves was 1 very symetrical limb coming out at 90 degrees to the branch.I waded out and found my sub.Took it home and opened it.Bone dry, with just a little corrosion on the battery terminals.Cleaned them and replaced the batteries and it ran.But I never used it again. I have checked all the mini rc subs on the market by reveiws and comments on radio control model forums. The Graupner U16 and it's ...

  • Little Soul at the Pool Today was warm and sunny, a perfect day to go to the pool at the park near our home. This was Little Soul's *first* time at a wading pool. She waded right in pretty fearlessly, and we had a great time. We stayed in the water 'til she got cold, then I toweled her off, changed her clothes, and she played in the park for a long time after that. This event was challenging to make a video of, because of me having to stay very close and sometimes hold Little Soul's hand, and because I was trying to keep the splashing water off the camera. I hope everyone who watches this has some perfect summer days! *Peace* :)
  • Two Injured In Wolf Creek Accident A California truck driver alerted authorities and waded through a creek bed in the predawn hours Saturday to assist an injured man after a car veered off of Highway 2, struck a power pole and plunged into the water. Paul Tetreault, 60, was crossing the bridge over Wolf Creek west of Syracuse when he saw a bloodied man waving his arms on the roadside. It was too dark to see the car about 30 yards away, but the driver told Tetreault it was surrounded by water and a passenger was still inside. Tetreault called 911 for help and descended the steep, heavily overgrown embankment and waded into the murky water to find the man. The passenger told Tetreault he was in severe pain. "I'm a Vietnam vet, so I know people go into shock. I stayed with him and talked to him. He was having trouble breathing, so I kept with him," Tetreault said. Tetreault's initial 911 call described the location as west of the state weigh station on Highway 2, so Nebraska City fire and rescue were dispatched. Emergency responders knew something was wrong when they reached as far west as Dunbar without seeing Tetreault¹s truck. Don Flessner of Otoe County Emergency Management heard a 911 dispatch about Wolf Creek and was able to direct rescuers to the bridge west of Syracuse.
  • The Crocodile Whisperer Fearless Costa Rican fisherman Chito playfully wrestles in the water with his best pal Pocho (the name means strength), a deadly 17ft crocodile. The 52-year-old daredevil draws gasps of amazement from onlookers by wading chest-deep into the water, then whistling for his 980lb buddy and giving him an affectionate hug. Chito made friends with the croc after finding him with a gunshot wound on the banks of the Central American state's Parismina river 20 years ago. He had been shot in the left eye by a cattle farmer and was close to death. The fisherman enlisted the help of several pals to load the massive reptile into his boat. He says, "When I found Pocho in the river he was dying, so I brought him into my house. He was very skinny, weighing only around 150 lb. I gave him chicken and fish and medicine for six months to help him recover. I stayed by Pocho's side while he was ill, sleeping next to him at night. I just wanted him to feel that somebody loved him, that not all humans are bad. "It meant a lot of sacrifice. I had to be there every day. I love all animals, especially ones that have suffered." It took years before Chito felt that Pocho had bonded with him enough to get closer to the animal. He says, "After a decade I started to work with him. At first it was slow, slow. I played with him a bit, slowly doing more. Then I found out that when I called his name he would come over to me." At one point during his recovery, Chito left the croc in a lake near his house. But ...

  • Mila Vilotijevic in Daphne of William Walton Mila Vilotijevic, accompained at piano by James Vaughan, plays "Daphne", a fine song of William Walton (1902 - 1983) from the Façade settings Text by Edith Sitwell (1887-1964). "Daphne" : When green as a river was the barley, Green as a river the rye, I waded deep and began to parley With a youth whom I heard sigh. 'I seek', said he, 'a lovely lady, A nymph as bright as a queen, Like a tree that drips with pearls her shady Locks of hair were seen; And all the rivers became her flocks Though their wool you cannot shear, Because of the love of her flowing locks, The kingly sun like a swain came strong, Unheeding of her scorn, Wading in deeps where she has lain, Sleeping upon her river lawn And chasing her starry satyr train. She fled, and changed into a tree, That lovely fair-haired lady And now I seek through the sere summer Where no trees are shady!'

  • Barramundi Fishing Tinaroo Style My mate Aaron and I went fishing on Australia Day 2009 and this is some of what happened..... We came to stretch of water where I waded up about 100 metres from the boat, fishing along the way till I got as far as I could go. Then all hell breaks loose as I hook a 120cm barramundi. I got the fish close but had no fish grippers or pliers so what was I to do?????? I decide to do the stupid and try and unhook the single treble attached. The barra shook its head and lodged an OWNER treble into my finger. I needed to get back to my mate down river to help me dislodge the hook who was ever so kindly filming. So I grabbed that fish the only way possible and hugged her tight to stop hurting head thrashes and swam, waded and fumbled down the rapids over boulders and sharp deep drops offs back to the boat. We dislodged the hook from fish and myself and released the fish. At this point I will say that the survival rate of the barra would unfortunately not be very high due to stresses placed on her. After all would you be happy for me to hug you tightly for a period of time???? But I had to give it a go.... I do strongly believe in quick catch and release methods, but this scenario was beyond my control (unless I had of thought about more carefully before the predicament) Hope you have a laugh at this vid like we did Matt
