  • John Paul II, an actor with a vocation for the priesthood When he was young he overcame the death of his entire family, he endured the hard life of a labor worker and he studied in secrecy with the help of his professors. Thats how John Paul IIs vocation was shaped. His story began in the small polish town of Wadowice on May 18, 1920. He was baptized one month later. He said it was here that his vocation as a Christian and for the priesthood was born. After finishing high school, he enrolled at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow to study Polish philology and also enrolled in an acting school. But the war and the *** occupation would change his plans. John Paul II "On one hand, you can say that my youth was marked by the Divine Providence because many of my friends lost their lives in very different circumstances, in the war or in concentration camps. This is called Shoa which in Hebrew means extermination of people. All of this belongs to the history of our century and Ive lived this story during my youth. And through this suffering, I learned to see the real world in a profound way." At the age of 19, he started working at a stone quarry and later at a chemical factory in Solvay to earn a living and avoid deportation to Germany. Three years later, he decided to join an underground seminary organized by the bishop of Krakow, Cardinal Sapieha. John Paul II "That experience as a worker and a "clandestine" seminarian has stayed with me all my life. I used to take books with me to the factory during my eight-hour shift, during ...

  • Spanish cloistered nuns see surge in vocations Lerma Burgos Spain Madrid, Spain, Nov 5, 2009 / 01:51 pm (CNA).- A 43 year-old prioresses has revolutionized an old Poor Clares convent in Spain, turning it onto a magnet for dozens of young professional women. Sister Veronica joined the Poor Clares Convent of the Ascension founded in 1604 in Lerma (Spain) at at time when it was going through a vocations crisis. It was January 22, 1984, and Marijose Berzosa - Sr. Veronica's name prior to entering the convent - decided, at age 18, to leave behind a career in medicine, friends, nightlife and baketball. "Nobody understood me. There were bets that it would not last, but they did not feel the force of the hurricane that drew me in," says Sr. Veronica. "I was a classic ***ager looking for a way out ... and I made a decision in just 15 days." Sr. Veronica joined the convent which had not seen a new vocation in nearly 23 years. Sr. Pureza de Maria Lubian, 70, now abbess of the convent in Burgos, was her formation director and remembers her Sr. Veronica as "a lovely girl." "Very noble and very good," recalls Sr. Puerza de Maria. Sr. Vernoica "was 18 and had a future. She left everything. She followed the call of God. She had a rich personality. She was always a leader. And, spiritually, she had a great vocation." Sr. Puerza de Maria also notes that though Sr. Veronica faced many "struggles and difficulties," she perservered and submitted to God's plan for her life. The Spanish daily El Pais, one of the newspapers most sympathetic to the current ...
  • Chemical Vocation - Song For Her Lyrics: Awkward feelings make me come up with questions about the truth of all there is. You´re the source for all i feel today, and I will never doubt. Your way to be the one you are, affect me more then shining stars. You take me to the greener grass, I hope this love forever last. I think I´ll freeze this moment cuz i want this photograph to last forever. Standing for the things I feel, the things I do no matter what they say. Who thought that we would be a part of something so special. Eight month´s past so quick, i remember telling my friends i´ll never get the chance. But now I know it all, she will be playing me fair. And never take second chances, she´s always there. I think I´ll freeze this moment cuz i want this photograph to last forever. Standing for the things I feel, the things I do no matter what they say. Who thougt that we would be a part of something so special. Akward feelings make me come up with questions about the truth of all there is. You´re the source for all i feel today, and I will never doubt. Your way to be the one you are, affect me more then shining stars. You take me to the greener grass, I hope this love forever last.
  • Norbertine Vocation Video Santa Maria de la Vid Priory is a religious community of Norbertine priests and brothers living a common life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our community is rooted in the Word of God. It is centered on Jesus Christ and His Church. The community is committed to the rule of St. Augustine. Our vocation is focused on the goal of becoming one heart and mind on our journey toward God. As a community we are given to holding all things in common. Our source of life is animated by the teaching of the Apostles. Our prayer life together focuses on Mary the Mother of Jesus and the community. We break bread together with joy so that the Eucharist is the center of our entire life. We commit ourselves to giving witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ by preaching, good example, our religious vows and every form of apostolic work. The contemporary challenge in living the apostolic way of life consists in finding ways that will allow us to live our vocation to its fullest expression. This video was created to provide a brief overview of the Norbertine way of life and our central charism of "comunio" or community. We hope that this short film will act as a catalyst for conversation between our community and those individuals who have an interest in vowed religious life, who are beginning to discern the call of God in their lives or who are well into their adventure of discernment. We look forward to the possibility of becoming part of your own journey of faith ...
