It is variously designated as located geographically within Central Asia[4], the Middle East[5], or South Asia[6]. It has religious, ethno-linguistic, and geographic links with most of its neighbors. It is bordered by Pakistan in the south and east,[7] Iran in the west, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the north, and China in the far northeast. The name Afghanistan means the "Land of Afghans." Afghanistan is a culturally mixed nation, a crossroads between the East and the West, and has been an ancient focal point of trade and migration. It has an important geostrategical location, connecting South Asia, Central Asia and Southwest Asia. During its long history, the land has seen various invaders and conquerors, while on the other hand, local entities invaded the surrounding vast regions to form empires to themselves. Ahmad Shah Durrani created a large empire in the middle of the eigh***th century, with its capital at Kandahar.[8] Subsequently, most of its territories were ceded to former neighboring countries. This principle, that of parallel construction, requires that expressions of similar content and function should be outwardly similar. The objection is that the interposed phrase or clause needlessly interrupts the natural order of the main clause. This objection, however, does not usually hold when the order is interrupted only by a relative clause or by an expression in apposition. Nor does it hold in periodic sentences in which the interruption is a deliberately used means of creating suspense (see examples under Rule 18). Although there are a few locals coming forward saying nothing happens at the old roman camp/blinkbonny open cast mine - I personally now know of at least 10 local people reporting their experiences there. all I have are some variously blurry or clearer photgraphs of that hilltop and a point at which there could well be some sort of holographic display by aliens. you can't and couldn't state from that that the alien base entrance is X - just that there is a point near that mine that appears to display a lot of wierdness of a paranormal nature. flash earth satellite photographs are also around 10 years old and do not actually represent current landuse at the site. there are permitted and not permitted walkways around there and walkers should be aware of their rights and the rights of the landowners in that respect. A local who accidently strayed off the path burned his shin on an electric fence for example. I have hundreds of photographs of the hilltop - many not on display and many of these seem to dovetail with local reports of that hilltop area and the local area in general. In my opinion only I have a photograph of a dark blue mini metro emerging out of a flap in the ground there - but at the very least it could have merely been a diversionary ...

  • Alien Human Genetic manipulation he Anunnaki or Anunnaku are a group of Sumerian mythological and Akkadian deities related to, and in some cases overlapping with, the Annuna (the 'Fifty Great Gods') and the Igigi (minor gods). The name is variously written "da-nuna", "da-nuna-ke4-ne", or "da-nun-na", meaning something like 'those of royal blood'. The head of the Anunnaki council was the Great Anu, the sky god, and the other members were his offspring. His throne was inherited by Enlil, resulting in a dispute between Enlil and his brother Enki regarding who was the rightful leader. Enki was an alchemist and was said to have created mankind. The Anunnaki were the High Council of the Gods, and Anu's companions. They were distributed through the Earth and the Underworld. The best known of them were Asaru, Asarualim, Asarualimnunna, Asaruludu, En-Ki (Ea for the Akkadians), Namru, Namtillaku and Tutu. Some 'ancient astronaut' theorists such as Zecharia Sitchin (qv), Sherry Shriner, Laurence Gardner and David Icke claim that the Anunnaki were in fact extra-terrestrials who came to Earth in antiquity and created or tampered with the genetic makeup of primitive mankind. They propose various readings of the word, two of which are "anu-na-ki" and "an-unnak-ki", both translated something like 'those who came from heaven to Earth'. 'Ancient astronaut theory' is most notably popularized by authors such as Erich von Daniken and Zecharia Sitchin. These theories often claim that human beings are either the descendants or ...

  • Welcome to China Zhōngguó WWW.GOODNEWS.WS goodnews.ws China is seen variously as an ancient civilization extending over a large area in East Asia, a nation and/or a multinational entity. With nearly 4000 years of continuous history, China is one of the world's oldest civilizations Prior to the 19th century, it possessed one of the most advanced societies and economies in the world; but through successive dynasties it then missed the industrial revolution and began to decline. In the 19th and 20th century, imperialism, internal weakness and civil wars damaged the country and its economy, and led to the overthrow of imperial rule.In 1949, after major combat ended in the Chinese Civil War, two states calling themselves "China" emerged:People's Republic of China The People's Republic of China (PRC), established in 1949, commonly known as China, has control over mainland China and the largely self-governing territories of Hong Kong (since 1997) and Macau (since 1999).Republic of China The Republic of China (ROC) established in 1912 in mainland China, now commonly known as Taiwan, has control over the islands of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, the Pratas island group, and a few other outlying islands. In the 1950s, change to economic policies in Taiwan transformed the island into a technology-oriented industrialized developed economy after a period of high growth rates and rapid industrialization. In mainland China, in the 1970s, reforms known as the Four Modernizations improved agriculture, industry, technology and ...
  • Dr. Persinger's God Helmet The term God Helmet refers to a controversial experimental apparatus in neurotheology. The apparatus, placed on the head of an experimental subject, stimulates the brain with magnetic fields. Persinger reports that at least 80 percent of his participants experience a presence beside them in the room, which they variously say feels like God or someone they knew who had died. The leading researcher in this area is Michael Persinger. Persinger uses a modified snowmobile helmet or a head-circlet device nicknamed the Octopus that contain solenoids which create a weak but complex magnetic field over the brain's right-hemisphere parietal and temporal lobes.

  • Godowsky Sonata, 2nd movement Leopold Godowsky - Sonata in E minor (1911) 2nd movement: Andante cantabile Thomas Ang, piano ------------------------------- Leopold Godowsky was an autodidact genius of the piano, having had little more than three months' lessons in his entire life. Becoming known as the Prince of the Left Hand - a reputation enhanced by his work in that medium - he was one of the most sought-after teachers in Europe just before the Second World War. He revolutionised attitudes toward fingering and technique, borne out especially in his compositions and transcriptions, which typically are dressed in a rich chromaticism and dense polyphony. Among his most well-known works are the monumental 53 Studies on Chopin, a kaleidoscopic panorama on the Chopin études, and the waltz Alt-Wien ("Old Vienna"), which has been variously transcribed for several instrument-and-piano combinations and included in many easy-listening collections. The Sonata in E minor, a five-movement work written early in his career, is variously influenced by Mahler and Richard Strauss, not least in the polyphonic writing and the overall form, especially reminiscent of Mahler's symphonies. This movement, a cantabile intermezzo in continuous-variation form, shares many similarities with the fourth, especially with regards to tonal outlay and usage of material.
  • Donald Campbell dies attempting World Water Speed Record 4.1.67 'Fate Stepped In': Donald Campbell dies attempting World Water Speed Record. The cause of the crash has been variously attributed to Campbell not waiting to refuel after doing a first run of 297.6 mph (478.9 km/h), and hence the boat being lighter; the wash caused by his first run and made much worse by the use of the water brake; and, possibly, a cut-out of the jet engine caused by fuel starvation. Some evidence for this last possibility may be seen in film recordings of the crash - as the nose of the boat climbs and the jet exhaust points at the water surface no disturbance or spray can be seen at all. Mr Whoppit, Campbell's teddy bear mascot, was found among the floating debris. Royal Navy divers made strenuous efforts to find and recover Campbell's body but, although the wreck of K7 was soon found, they called off the search without locating his body. Campbell's last words on his final run were, via radio intercom: Pitching a bit down here...Probably from my own wash...Straightening up now on track...Rather close to Peel Island...Tramping like mad...er... Full power...Tramping like hell here... I can't see much... and the water's very bad indeed...I can't get over the top... I'm getting a lot of bloody row in here... I can't see anything... I'm going.... oh!

By 1960 he was leading his own group, the Nigeraphone Studio Orchestra of Onitsha and had played with the "big names" of Nigerian highlife - Bobby Benson, Roy Chicago, Victor Olaiya and others. With his second group, the Majors Band of Nigeria (variously called the "Mayors Band," and in later years the Rivers Men), he scored innumerable hits over the sixties and early seventies, notably "Jolly Papa," "Adure," "Ibi na Bo," and many others. Of these, the biggest was "Sawale," in pidgen English, which has become an African music standard and been remade numerous times by various artists. Lawson's fluency in various languages and dialects has only enhanced his appeal across class and ethnic lines in West Africa. In the 60s during the thick of the Biafran war and to boost morale of the Biafran people, Cardinal Rex Lawson released an album titled Hail Biafra . Lawson was latter detained by Nigerian Federal Government troops and questioned about this pro-Biafran record: "...He proudly and ...
  • BP Oil Spill - Tony Hayward's Testimony Part 2 (2010-8) June 17, 2010 Watch the full testimony: On 20 April 2010, an explosion occurred on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, operated by BP. Eleven people were killed in the blast and oil began to leak from the ocean floor at a rate variously estimated to be between 5000 and 100000 barrels per day. Hayward, and BP in general, initially downplayed the spill, stating on 17 May 2010 that the environmental impact of the Gulf spill would likely be "very very modest" and calling the spill "relatively tiny" in comparison with the size of the ocean. By 27 May, Hayward had apparently changed his assessment, calling the spill an "environmental catastrophe" in an interview with CNN. Hayward has stated that his job might be at risk as a result of the spill, saying "we made a few little mistakes early on." Hayward received criticism for various statements he has made during the spill, including telling a camera man to "get out of there" during a photo-op on the shores of Louisiana. On 30 May, Hayward told a reporter "we're sorry for the massive disruption it's caused to their lives. There's no one who wants this thing over more than I do, I'd like my life back." Hayward was widely criticized for the comment and United States Representative Charlie Melancon (D-La.) called on Hayward to resign in the wake of this comment. He later apologized for the comment on BP America's Facebook Page. On 31 May, Hayward disputed claims of huge underwater plumes of oil ...

  • B. Bakfark-Je prens en gre Bálint Bakfark (his name is variously spelled as Bacfarc, Bakfarc, Bakfarkh, Bakffark, Backuart, and occasionally his first name is rendered as Valentin); 1507 -- August 15 or August 22, 1576) was a Hungarian composer and lutenist of the Renaissance. He was enormously influential as a lutenist in his time, and renowned as a virtuoso on the instrument. He was born in Braşov (Brassó), Transylvania (nowadays in Romania). An orphan, he was brought up by the Greff family, and was educated in Buda at the court of John Zápolya. Bakfark remained there until 1540, though he possibly traveled to Italy once during this time. Sometime in the 1540s he traveled to Paris, but, finding the position of lutenist to the king filled, he left for Jagiellon Poland in 1549, where he was employed as a court lutenist by Sigismund Augustus II. From then until 1566, he traveled extensively around Europe, with his renown increasing, but remained faithful to his employer in spite of numerous efforts by other monarchs to win him away; the riches bestowed on him by Sigismund may have affected his decision to remain attached to the court in Vilnius (Wilno). What happened to him in 1566 is not precisely known, but he clearly did something to provoke the wrath of the king, and scarcely had time to flee before Polish army troops ransacked his house and destroyed his possessions. After this, he lived for a while in Vienna, and then returned to Transylvania, but not for long; in 1571 he moved to Padua, in ...

  • Big Joe Turner - "Flip Flop And Fly" (1955) Big Joe Turner (born Joseph Vernon Turner Jr., May 18, 1911 November 24, 1985 was an American blues shouter from Kansas City, Missouri. According to the songwriter Doc Pomus, "Rock and roll would have never happened without him." Although he came to his greatest fame in the 1950s with his pioneering rock and roll recordings, particularly "Shake, Rattle and Roll", Turner's career as a performer stretched from the 1920s into the 1980s. Known variously as The Boss of the Blues, and Big Joe Turner (due to his 6'2", 300+ lbs stature), Turner was born in Kansas City and first discovered his love of music through involvement in the church. Turner's father was killed in a train accident when Joe was only four years old. He began singing on street corners for money, leaving school at age four*** to begin working in Kansas City's nightclub scene, first as a cook, and later as a singing bartender. He eventually became known as The Singing Barman, and worked in such venues as The Kingfish Club and The Sunset, where he and his piano playing partner Pete Johnson became resident performers. The Sunset was managed by Piney Brown. It featured "separate but equal" facilities for white patrons. Turner wrote "Piney Brown Blues" in his honor and sang it throughout his entire career. His partnership with boogie-woogie pianist Pete Johnson proved fruitful. Together they headed to New York City in 1936, where they appeared on a bill with Benny Goodman, but as Turner recounts, "After our show ...

  • Return of the Fallen Angeles Will the lusful Anunnaki return in 2012? Will Planet X Nibiru cause upheavels on earth? he Anunnaki or Anunnaku are a group of Sumerian mythological and Akkadian deities related to, and in some cases overlapping with, the Annuna (the 'Fifty Great Gods') and the Igigi (minor gods). 'Ancient astronaut theory' is most notably popularized by authors such as Erich von Daniken and ...

  • Mini Cooper vs Porsche Carrera S 997 When production of the classic Mini ceased in 2000, BMW (the new owner of the brand) announced the successor to the Mini—which is variously called the "BMW MINI" or the "New MINI". The brand name for the new car is MINI (written in capital letters) In 2004 the 911 was heavily revised[17] and the 996's replacement, the 997, was unveiled in July. The 997 keeps the basic profile of the 996, bringing the drag coefficient down to 0.28, but draws on the 993 for detailing. In addition, the new front fascia is reminiscent of the older generation, with the traditional "bug eye" headlamps. Its interior is also similarly revised, with strong links to the earlier 911 interiors while at the same time looking fresh and modern. The 997 shares less than a third of its parts with the outgoing 996, but is still technically very similar to it. Initially, two versions of the 997 were introduced— the rear wheel drive Carrera and Carrera S. While the base 997 Carrera produced 325 PS (239 kW) from its 3.6 L Flat 6, a more powerful 3.8 L 355 PS (261 kW) Flat 6 powers the Carrera S. Besides a more powerful engine, the Carrera S also comes standard with 19 inch (48 cm) "Lobster Fork" style wheels, more powerful and larger brakes (with red calipers), a more sporty suspension, complete with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) which allows for electronic adjustability of suspension settings, Xenon Headlamps, and Sport Steering wheel.
  • Bangla Rabindra Sangeet By Banya : Bhalobashi Bhalobashi Rezwana Chowdhury Banya (Bengali: রেজওয়ানা চৌধুরী বন্যা, (also variously cited as Rezwana Chowdhury Bonya) is a contemporary Rabindrasangeet singer widely hailed in both her native Bangladesh and West Bengal, India as being one of the most versatile exponents of this musical genre. She is often referred to by aficionados solely by her nickname Banya, which translates into English as "inundation". She is one of the most acclaimed former proteges of Kanika Banerjee. Banya has been singing from a very early age. According to an autobiographical account published in an online journal in 2001, as long as she remembered she dreamt of learning Rabindrasangeet at Visva-Bharati University, the university set up by Rabindranath Tagore on his ancestral property using money awarded for his Nobel Prize. Visva Bharati, to this day, remains a major center for learning Rabindra Sangeet in West Bengal, the other major university in India for this genre being Rabindra Bharati University. Over the years, both universities have developed distinctive styles of singing in this genre. Until the Visva Bharati's copyright of all of Tagore's songs expired, it was mandatory in India for any singer to obtain permission of the Music Board before cutting a record with songs composed by him. It was no wonder that after Banya completed her initial training from Chhayanot in Bangladesh, she wanted to study at Visva Bharati. However, she recounts that she had no intention of making a ...
