How to Grow Agave Desmettiana Variegata Agave Desmettiana Variegata is a easy care outdoor or indoor houseplant depending on where you live. I was always in awe over agave I seen in books and magazine and honestly did not think I could grow them in our cold climate, but I was wrong. So 2 years ago I found someone selling tiny little offsets online , and I was reluctant at first, but always love a challenge and I loved the look so much I went ahead and purchased. I grow many agaves indoors in my basement, but I also transplanted some out in my greenhouse this Spring and they grew so beautifully, with no problems. This variety of agave is considered a dwarf, but think the size is just right especially when growing indoors. The leaves are bright green with yellow variegation along the margins. Spines are nonexistent along the margins, but does produce a sharp point at end of their leaves. They produce offsets, and grow to be 2-3ft in size. Very sturdy plant but make sure you keep out of reach , as the leaves can be easily broken. Hardy to 25 degrees so plant outdoors year around in zones 9-11 , Plant in a sun area, being a succulent plant it requires little water. There is many agave's on the market , but this one keeps giving and giving and I love that about plants. Propagation is easy and before long you will have many agave's to give, sell , wonderful gifts too. In this video I will be transplanting and telling you alittle more about this special Agave.

Growing Japanese Ferns If you've ever tried to plant in the shady part of your garden or dedicated a certain area for shade loving plants, you've probably run across ferns. There are literally hundreds of them to choose from with a wide range of plant form, size and always with a beautiful delicate texture. One of my all time favorites is the Japanese Painted Fern. If you'll take a little closer look at the leaf or frond, you can see how this plant got its name. This plant looks as though it has been meticulously hand painted with its burgundy veining and the lighter colors give it almost a metallic look. This subtle variegation helps the plant to stand out, making a stronger statement in shady areas. And it also provides a nice contrast to other shade loving perennials like hostas, astilbe and coralbells. Last year, when I planted these, they were really quite small; they were just in four inch pots. And as you can see, over the past season, they've really flourished. Whenever I plant Japanese Painted Ferns or any other fern for that matter, I always like to incorporate a lot of rich humus in the soil, and if I can, in the form of compost like this. Light Waterfalls This was filmed in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls, Interlaken. This is part of my Dancing Barefeet Project - Exploring dance in nature and in its spiritual and expressive form. The music I used in this video is perhaps more significant than the dance itself. It's called Maya's Theme, taken from the soundtrack of a movie about courtesans and love, though this movie touched on very different feelings from feelings that occurred during my initial fascination with Umrao Jaan. "I wrap in pink cloths, colours entwining with florescent gold so that intricate flowers decorate me. There is nothing else but this one cloth around me, finally throwing over my shoulder. I am depending on this weight to hold my character. There are anklets and waist belts, they chime slowly as my moves are gentle; the concentration is on seduction and ultimate definition. I only walk around in this." This was inspired by Maya's Theme. I think I lingered in this for a week, finally then distracted by law school. The dance I performed was under the influence of a man (the singer) who could sing sorrow using his voice. I did not understand the song as I never planned to use it. Known with her constant repertoire quests in the chamber-musical performance, the soprano Daniela Dimova - again a productive constructive tandem with Janeta Benun (piano) - this time has oriented to the sefarade (Spanish European) songs. It is concerning the cycle 27 sefarade songs in transcriptions of Jul Levi, made in 1995. The composer wrote about them in his autobiography book "I sea life in pink" (Sofia, 2000), "I was asked to arrange 25 sefarade songs for the repertoire of our famous singers Ida Finni soprano and Nina Aladjem, pianist." According the words of the musicologist Dr Rumyana Karakostova, the material in its biggest part was collected by Nina Aladjem "song by song" through the years, and not only in Bulgaria. Jul Levi also remembers from his childhood some of the "marvelous Spanish romances", "which my grandma Donna was singing to me from the cradle till my school years." Daniela Dimova is choosing twelve songs from the available song corpus.
