  • Syd Barrett Tribute- Happy Birthday Because today is the late great Syd Barrett's birthday I decided to put this tribute up. Syd Barrett is a legend of our time. Creative, original, without him who knows what modern music would be like? Roger Keith Barrett (His full name, which he used in later years) was born in Cambridge to Arthur Max Barrett and Winifred Barrett. As a young boy he was very creative and loved painting (A passion he never lost). He was given the name Syd, because a double bassist (though a few people think it was a drummer) in cambridge had the name Sid Barrett, but Syd changed it to a "y" to give the name independance. A month before his 16th birthday Syd's Father died, which effected Syd quite badly, and possibly in later years. Eventually he joined a band which he named "The Pink Floyd Sound" who had started as an Rythym and Blues group, but after a while they began to progress into more psychadelic areas. They contained Roger Waters on bass, Rick Wright as keyboard, Nick Mason on drums, and Syd Barrett on guitar and singing. Their first single was Arnold Layne, a story about a man stealing clothes from womens washin lines, it was banned from the BBC. Syd was happy in all this, when he got the record deal he smiled saying "We're going to be pop stars!" Pink Floyd we're getting bigger. On stage they'd do long instrumental passages of improvisation that the crowd loved. Syd was doing things on guitar no one had ever dreamed, playing slide with a zippo lighter, making it make whatever ...

  • welcome to the jungle cover by vale hi, this is my cover of my favorite song from guns n roses, welcome to the jungle. this time i play it in flat tuning, same as the CD, i hope its tuned right cos it kept untuning (i normally use standard tuning, i rarely untune my guitar...). some parts i play rhythm, some parts i play lead...unfortunately, there is a part in the pre-solo that goes on the 22nd fret...which i dont have! so i play one octave lower... anyway i think its a great n catchy song, hope it sounds ok!....
  • Grand Prix GT Supercharged vs. B18 Civic Part 1 At the time the Grand Prix had Intake, Headers, Full Exhaust, 3.5 S/C pulley @ 6-7 PSI and crappy tune. Yes, it is top swapped. HP at the time was about 260 HP and 300+ Torque at the wheels with the 3.5 setup. The Civic had a B18 swap, header, intake, full exhaust, interior gutted (lightened) custom tune and other goodies. Claimed 200 BHP. High elevation sucks and sorry for the EXTREME ***ty quality of the video. D/led it from Photobucket, had to convert it twice, so bare with me please lol These guy's are good buddies, no rival's...just having fun. The passenger has one mean MR2. • Slave Story, Apostolos Paraskevas, Boston 2006 Apostolos Paraskevas, Greek/American composer -guitarist, performs his composition "Slave Story" (1992). Slave Story (1992) is one of the first pieces where the composer's experimentation with novel guitar sounds becomes evident. In the words of Mr. Paraskevas, "with this piece I wished to give the listener as many unconventional and new sounds on the guitar as possible." In order to understand the function of the sounds used one has to be aware of the programmatic elements hidden behind the music. The story is that of a slave; first we hear the chains, represented by scratching of the nails on the strings, while immediately afterwards the leitmotiv of the slave is introduced. As the music grows faster, the slave is caught in a dream, where he is being pursued (musically illustrated by the strikes on the wood and other techniques that produce percussive sounds). This hectic effect culminates in the emancipation of the slave's mind, whereby he recalls sounds of the timpani that he used to hear when once free in his homeland. In order to achieve these different timpani-like sounds, the player has to cross the strings of the guitar in pairs, thus forming six different sounds of timpani, and improvise rhythmically on them. As the sound gradually fades out, the opening scratching of the string returns, bringing the slave out of his illusions and back to reality. The sound of the lowest note is not enough to lament on the slave's fate, so the performer has to start untuning the ...

  • Left 4 Dead - Cold *** (Cold Case) Part 2 Confusion A bit from Tiler Kiwi's review: Modifications As I said at the start, L4D had a lot of work into it to make it fun. And this campaign actually managed to make L4D a bad game. Melee is gimped in a stupid fashion. Every time you melee, your attacks are disabled for a moment. And it's not like in L4D versus, this included all your attacks, so if you melee, you are stuck being unable to fire or reload your gun for a solid second or two. Of course, this makes melee largely a pain in the bum to use, to which I wonder why he didn't just disable it altogether, since he apparently hates it deeply. The guns themselves are gimped, with longer reloads, bigger recoil, and lower accuracy. This is Daikatana level horsepoo; that game had very bad guns, and the maker of it claimed that it meant his game was for 'experts', and I can only assume that's the same defense by the maker of this campaign. Daikatana, of course, was horrible, so it should be obvious why I'm making this comparison. (Hint: Cold Case sucks) So the guns suck, and melee sucks. Healing takes much longer as well, pills are gimped, survivor speed is messed with, and overall, the carefully tuned game that Valve made has been reduced to a gibbering wreck. I cannot stress how insane this is. The maker of this campaign took actual effort to make the game worse! Just like he ruined the plagiarized maps, he's taken the base mechanic of L4D and flayed them utterly. All in the name of being able to find "upgrade points" in the ...
