  • Convair R3Y Tradewind The R3Y set a transcontinental seaplane record of 403 mph in 1954 by utilising the speed of high-altitude jetstream winds. This record still stands. After service trials the aircraft were delivered to US Navy transport squadron VR-2 on 31 March 1956. Problems with the engine/propeller combination led to the ending of Tradewind operations and the unit was disbanded on 16 April 1958. The six R3Y-2s were converted into four-point in-flight tankers using the probe-and-drogue method. In September 1956 one example was the first aircraft to successfully refuel four others simultaneously in flight in 1956, refuelling four F9F Cougars. The program was halted after thir*** aircraft were built, the reason being the unreliability of the Allison T-40 turboprops. The crash of one of the two XP5Y-1 aircraft was judged due to catastrophic engine failure; when little progress was being made with the engine problems, the Navy halted the program. Subsequently three more aircraft were lost through engine failures, and the Navy gave up on the T-40 and aircraft powered by it. All the P5Y and R3Y aircraft were grounded in 1958 and subsequently broken up.
  • Cheatsy Strider Is Cheatsy That Darius Twin boss battle music is stuck in my head. Notice how, at the end, a Magnusson Device pops right off the strider and doesn't explode even when I sho0t it multiple times. XP Musics other than the boss battle theme from Darius Twin (Super NES) are the title screen theme from Do0m (PC) and the game over theme from Maximum Carnage (Super NES). Note: There seems to be no reliable way to kill hunters. There's no way to predict whether or not they'll dodge the hot rod Charger when you charge them and the "payback" technique is never a guarantee. Timing doesn't even seem to matter. It appears to be completely random. I'd appreciate some reliability. But then, how can you expect reliability from a game that doesn't even let you aim your weapons? Also notice how unreliable the Magnusson Devices are. Sometimes they fly right over a Strider's carapace even when they lo0k like they're making contact. As for the one that fell off the Strider at the end -- pr0of of unreliability. Either that or the Strider becomes a scripted entity once it gets close enough to the silo, causing the Magnusson Device to fall off. If not for that jackassery, this battle would have lasted longer.
  • Let's Play Happy Feet 08: Unsubtitled Video I will freely admit to my own unreliability regarding making updates lately. I'd like to reminisce for a moment. Once upon a time, I had a blog. I loved that blog, and updated it almost daily for many a-month. Six, perhaps? Maybe more? I wrote many meaningful entries and entertained the few who wanted to read it. Then a time came where the blog server had continual outages, sometimes lasting for days at a time. eventually, I gave up on it and searched for another server and eventually, my original blog faded away into cyberspace as the site was deleted. I eventually found a new place to blog, but it was never the same. Too used to not typing and updating so frequently, I found it too difficult to get back into the swing of things and eventually stopped. I miss those days. I feel like my internet's continued outages are causing this same effect with me. Fear not, I'm definitely going to continue, especially since I have much more support here than I did with my blog. Also, I'm not trying to pass the blame for my unreliability regarding my failure to update; I'm merely sharing a thought. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure I don't fall out of the habit of doing Let's Play videos. The computer I'm on can't play this video, so I have no idea what it's about and have no way of even hearing the audio for it to try and figure it out. Nevertheless, enjoy.

  • Charles Babbage and his Difference Engine #2 [Recorded: April 2008] Charles Babbage (1791-1871), computer pioneer, designed the first automatic computing engines. He invented computers but failed to build them. The first complete Babbage Engine was completed in London in 2002, 153 years after it was designed. Difference Engine No. 2, built faithfully to the original drawings, consists of 8000 parts, weighs five tons, and measures 11 feet long. OVERVIEW - In London, during the summer of 1821, Charles Babbage, inventor and mathematician, is poring over a set of astronomical tables calculated by hand. Finding error after error he finally exclaims 'I wish to God these calculations had been executed by steam'. His appeal to machinery, in one of the most resonant utterances of the 19th century, was the start of a new era of automatic computation. It was not only the grindingly tedious labor of verifying a sea of figures that exasperated Babbage, but their daunting unreliability. Engineering, astronomy, construction, finance, banking and insurance depended on printed tables for calculation. Ships navigating by the stars relied on printed tables to find their position at sea. The stakes were high. Capital and life were thought to be at risk. Babbage embarked on an ambitious venture to design and build mechanical calculating engines to eliminate the risk of human error in the production of printed tables. The 'unerring certainty of machinery' would solve the problem of human fallibility. His work on the engines led him from ...
  • Saiga 12 La mejor escopeta para defensa personal The Saiga-12 is a Kalashnikov-pattern 12 gauge combat shotgun available in a wide range of configurations. Like the Kalashnikov rifle variants, it is a rotating bolt, gas-operated gun that feeds from a box magazine. All Saiga-12 configurations are recognizable as Kalashnikov-pattern guns by the large lever-safety on the right side of the receiver, the optic mounting rail on the left side of the receiver and the large top-mounted dust cover held in place by the rear of the recoil spring assembly. The looser clearances offered in an AK style design result in high reliability—an enormous boon on a semi-automatic shotgun, as this class of weapon had previously tended towards unreliability. The gun is also readily affordable and easy to manufacture, made almost entirely from sheet-metal stampings. The Saiga-12 is manufactured by the arms division of Izhmash, in Russia. It was previously imported into the US by European American Armories, although their agreement expired in 2005 and Izhmash is now exporting through the Russian-American Armory Company.

  • Decay (Film & Video) This video explores the unreliability of both film and video. Although we can distinctly see the decay of film over time, we must also take into account the decomposition of the medium of video, too. I parallel the decay of these two mediums with using images of the decay of organic materials: fruits, rabbit, and person. The clips of the fruits and rabbit are found footages. I filmed the person dying. However, to create a recursive loop between film and video, I first obtained video clips of each, then filmed each sequence onto 16mm B&W film, and finally converting everything back to video. If you look closely at the film sequence, you can start seeing the images fading away. During the video sequence, I recompressed each clip over and over until the videos get so pixelated that you can't really make out the images. **NOTE: The original is much sharper and crisper, so in a way, by uploading this onto YouTube, it further supports my argument about the unreliability of video.
  • I think therefore... Click here to watch all videos in this series: It has been argued that the absence of certainty about reality due to our unreliable perceptions is proof of a god that makes everything reliable by his existence. The creationist I've been in discussion with really only takes the unreliability point as far as anything before what we can experience in our current moment. So he's fine with what we have right now. He only distrusts assumptions about the past from the present. I don't think he understands that when you go down that rabbit hole of unreliability of information, it can only take you back to self. If he stops just short of self with his logic then he's cheating.:)
  • AVRO Lancaster Production The Avro Lancaster was a British four-engine Second World War bomber aircraft made initially by Avro for the British Royal Air Force (RAF). It first saw active service in 1942, and together with the Handley-Page Halifax it was one of the main heavy bombers of the RAF, the Royal Canadian Air Force and squadrons from other Commonwealth and European countries serving with RAF Bomber Command. The "Lanc" or "Lankie," as it became affectionately known, became the most famous and most successful of the Second World War night bombers, "delivering 608612 tons of bombs in 156000 sorties." Although the Lancaster was primarily a night bomber, it excelled in many other roles including daylight precision bombing, and gained worldwide renown as the "Dam Buster" used in the 1943 Operation Chastise raids on Germany's Ruhr Valley dams. The origins of the Lancaster lie in a twin-engined bomber design powered by Rolls-Royce Vulture engines submitted to Specification P.13/36 which was for a new generation of twin-engined medium bombers. The resulting aircraft was the Avro Manchester, which, although a capable aircraft, was troubled by the unreliability of the Vulture and withdrawn from service in 1942, by which point 200 aircraft had been built. Avro's chief designer, Roy Chadwick, was already working on an improved Manchester design using four of the more reliable but less powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engines on a larger wing. The aircraft was initially designated Avro Type 683 Manchester III ...

  • The Merchants of Fear: Profiting from Homeland Insecurity Daily News @ RevolutionNews.US — Since leaving public office in 2009, Chertoff had co-founded the Chertoff Group, a security and risk-management firm whose clients include a manufacturer of body-imaging screening machines. While some in the media noted this rather commonplace conflict of interest, ignored by all was a far more significant abuse of the American public's trust. In a CNN interview, Chertoff cited the Detroit incident as "a very vivid lesson in the value of that machinery." One lesson that he hasn't drawn, however, was about the unreliability of the security firm which allowed the young Nigerian Muslim without a passport to "slip through" Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. ICTS International NV, the Dutch-based security firm, was established in 1982 by former members of Israel's secret police, the Shin Bet, and El Al security. Menachem Atzmon, who holds the controlling shares in the firm, was convicted in 1996 for campaign finance fraud while co-treasurer of the Likud party. The other co-treasurer Ehud Olmert, who was acquitted of those charges, resigned as Israeli Prime Minister in 2008 amid multiple corruption charges. Although the rapid worldwide expansion of ICTS was no doubt helped by the much vaunted reputation of Israeli aviation security, its record abroad is less reassuring. In December 2001, the so-called "shoe bomber" Richard Reid also slipped through ICTS security at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to board a flight to Miami. And it was an ICTS ...

In early 2002, testing began on one of the world's most technologically advanced rides ever made, and the ride opened on March 2002 at a cost of £12million. It holds the title of one of the most expensive rides jointly with Oblivion at Alton Towers, which was built at a cost of £12 million. Special crash test dummies were brought in to aid with testing. The passengers of the first ride were the manufacturers and the designers. After more adjustments, the ride was open to the public in 2002. Early difficulties with unreliability were reduced towards the end of the first year, and problems are now rare. • Rep. Thaddeus McCotter Speaks out on Turkey's Backtracking on the So-Called "Roadmap" Agreement Michigan Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter discusses his support for Armenian Genocide legislation (H.Res.252), Turkey's unreliability as a US ally, and the Nagorno Karabagh peace talks during an interview with veteran reporter Paul Chaderjian on the Horizon 180 broadcast. Elected to Congress in 2002, Rep. McCotter has consistently been an ouspoken advocate of Armenian Genocide recognition and stressed the importance of a strong US-Armenia relationship. He has consistently received an "A+" rating by the Armenian National Committee of America. The August 17th interview was part of the weekly ANCA segment on Horizon 180, broadcast Monday evenings at 8:30pm PDT / 11:30pm EDT on KSCI Channel 18 and online at
  • Up the Ra - Rubber Bandits A Note on "UP DA RA We have been getting some feedback that UP DA RA is offensive to Irish Republicans. I want to clear this matter up. Up DA RA is a piece of satire. It Satirises armchairrepublicanism. It was written from the point of view of the type of eejit who is liable to have Tiocfaidh ar la tattooed on his arm while wearing a Manchester united Jersey. It was personally inspired by a gentleman I knew who spray painted CIRA on a bus stop, believing that the acronym stood for Constitutional Irish Republican Army. The writing technique implemented inUP DA RA is known as The unreliable Narrator. This is a narrative mode used by the writer to best communicate the intended message. This unreliability canbe due to psychological instability, a powerful bias, a lack of knowledge, or even a deliberate attempt to deceive the reader or audience. Some lovely examples of this technique can be found in the song Rednecks by Randy Newman or in the satirical piece A modest proposal by Johnathan Swift. www.uoregon.edu So if you listen to UP DA RA literally, without exploring its subtext then it is wide open for misinterpretation. As its author, I wrote the song for a 21st century audience who are very familiar with postmodern Irony. Also, any song whereby the narrator threatens to chase the Queen of England around a field with dog *** on the end of a golf club should generally be taken with a pinch of salt. For example, If you were walking down the ...

  • M16A5 = Magpul MASADA ACR = Shoot Enemy Ammo, Don't Run Out = Win The MAGPUL MASADA ACR uses some M16 parts so the legacy continues....its the "M16A5" we need that fixes the dirty gas piston unreliability and weak telescoping stock problem with a sturdy folding stock and gas piston action. It also is MODULAR so it can be rapidly reconfigured to shoot enemy ammo in a pinch: Remington ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) Remington ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) The Remington ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) is the next generation of assault rifles, originally developed by Magpul Industries as the Magpul Masada (in honor of the Siege of Masada in ancient Israel). This rifle features a modular and rugged polymer design, modifiable to fire 5.56x45 NATO, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8x43 Remington SPC or even the 7.62x39 M43 round the AK-47 fires (great for scavenging enemy ammo and using it against the enemy the next time you and your platoon buddies face them). Thanks to YOUTUBE user ironfalcon100 for alerting us to this great development!
  • Locked Up: A Mother's Rage (TV 1991) to watch the full movie The story concerns a mother of three sent to prison for 15 years for a crime she did not commit,on the testimony of the real drug dealer who got off on a 1 to 3 plea bargain as a reward for his perjury. Perhaps this isn't the greatest social drama ever made, but it points up the unreliability of our justice system, and the total inadequacy of any plan to care for children of convicted women, guilty or not. Also illustrated is the the fact that violent (20%) and non-violent (80%) inmates are all treated alike once in the clink. Our totally wrong-headed drug laws are responsible for most people in prison today, although the film doesn't emphasize this particularly. It's a film well-acted and produced and better edited than most TV movies. Jean Smart, an alumna of Ashland, Oregon's Shakespeare Festival, is a stand-out performer as the victim's sister. Her life is as much disrupted by the wrongful incarceration as that of the victim, played winningly by Cheryl Ladd.
  • BSA Motorcycles: One up and three down When I sat down to look at some of the photographs which accompany this video, I begin to realize how old I am. I began racing in an era when British factories ruled the world. Now, BSA is largely a folk memory. How hath the mighty fallen, indeed! It was the same era in which the BSA group had the most modern motorcycle factory in the world, and when confidence amounting to crass arrogance filled every room in the Armoury Road complex. I remember sitting eating lunch with a group of BSA middle management who spent an hour and a half laughing at Honda because they didn't have a bike bigger than 450cc and dismissing all Yamahas as foul-handling, smoky two-strokes. And this was at the same time that BSA's own bikes were dogged with some of the most gross unreliability ever seen in production engineering. Did the Japanese steal the British motorcycle industry? Not in the slightest degree - they were given it on a solid gold plate!
  • Authors@Google: Rivka Galchen & Fiona Maazel The Authors@Google program welcomed Rivka Galchen and Fiona Maazel to Google's New York office to speak about writing and their first novels. Their discussion was moderated by their mutual editor David Rogers. Joshua Henkin on "Last Last Chance" NYTimes Last Last Chance isnt your average novel, thanks in no small part to Maazels funny, lacerating prose. The book fits squarely in the tradition of novels about the wealthy and dissolute, but ultimately its less John Cheever than Denis Johnson — the Denis Johnson of Jesus Son, with its drug-addled narrators — though Maazels voice is more caffeinated, more fueled by attitude (I dont even know whether they do the Eucharist at a memorial. Do the Eucharist? Is that like do the hustle?) and more prone to hectoring. Theres nothing worse than a drug addict with opinions, Lucy observes. Maazel is particularly adept at conveying the desperation of the addict, how everything — even a potentially world-ending plague — is eclipsed by the need for a fix. She depicts the mixture of terror and sang-froid as people stay riveted to the TV, watching superplague mark its serpentine course across the map even as they go about their own business. Most of all, she shows what fear does to people: They might say: I am simply protecting my family. Or: I will screw you over a thousand times if it means protecting myself. How long before the prom ***s or the family in F-7 disbanded? How long before survival trounced compassion? James Wood on ...
  • Saiga 12 ga Converted 20 round drum Review The Saiga-12 is a Kalashnikov-pattern 12 gauge combat shotgun available in a wide range of configurations. The Saiga-12 is manufactured by the arms division of Izhmash, in Russia. It was previously imported into the US by European American Armories, although their agreement expired in 2005 and Izhmash is now exporting through the Russian-American Armory Company.
  • Rampage - Alabama Adventure - Front Car Seat View Riding the roller coaster The Rampage at Alabama Adventure. Birmingham, AL Point of View camera I attached to the first car of the coaster. Thanks to Alabama Adventure for allowing this to be shot. This will be used as B Roll in an upcoming documentary. Rampage is a wooden roller coaster. Wooden coasters rely on an often rougher and more "wild" ride as well as a more psychological approach to inducing fear. Their shaky structures and track, which usually move anywhere from a few inches to a few feet with a passing train, give a sense of unreliability and the "threat" of collapse or disregard for safety.
  • Newshot The one thing that is totally reliable about politicians is their unreliability. It is a deep seated virtue or vice depending on which side you look at it from. The week has proved this statement to be true. So true that when Ongeri was asked to step aside he pointed a finger and he succeeded. Now everyone is going back and forth trying to look at who is to go and the conversation has moved from stepping aside to issues of the degree of culpability. It is sad, but it is what we are. Newshot tonight looks at Ongeri versus Raila.
  • iPhone 4 crash endless loop - read decription for updates I have been having apps randomly crashing on my iphone4 since purchasing the device. Locking me out of one or all apps until I reboot the device. I have reset all settings as well as restoring device 3 times and upgrading to ios4. On a daily basis it has at least one catastrophic crash ending in an endless loop only way out being to resync with the computer. Today I was in safari reading a web page and it suddenly crashes out of nowhere in endless loop. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a hardware issue? I can't take the unreliability of this phone anymore. PS if your phone locks on you like this, you can press and hold both the home and power buttons together. This will force a shut down. Update: I returned this phone and got a new one about a month later. I've been using it just shy of 2 weeks now and have not had a single problem with the replacement unit. So this issue was obviously a hardware problem with the device. If anyone has this problem exchange / replace your phone.

  • Field eXpedients: MWG 90-Round Drum Loading 5.56mm Weapons Most armies of the world have been able to successfully field drum magazines and gain a firepower volume edge over the backward US Army and marines. Jim Sullivan who co-invented the AR15/M16 spoke recently on this in a PBS News Hour TV interview on September 24, 2007, "Defense Department Sticks With M16s Despite Problems" PAUL SOLMAN: Though he's now 74, Sullivan's intellectual curiosity is still his long suit. In the years since the M-16, he's debuted a new rifle, something called the Ultimax, to rave reviews. He didn't make it in or for the United States, however, but the country of Singapore. He's also invented a 100-round magazine for the Ultimax, the M-16 and M-4. It's being used by England, Germany, even famously neutral Switzerland. But the US Army... JIM SULLIVAN: Doesn't use this thing. PAUL SOLMAN: They don't use it now? JIM SULLIVAN: No. I mean, our Soldiers are still limited to 30-shot magazines. That's what they're trying to fight with over there in Iraq. This is emptied in full auto in three seconds. It takes him about five seconds before he can fire the next shot. That's just like a giant malfunction, OK? During that time, the man's helpless. However, the unreliability of the C-MAG drum with two small 50 round bulges in trial US use has soured many to the entire concept. Here is how they work in clean environments showing the CAPABILITY we need: C MAG CL MAG Since C-MAGs jam, the baby (good capability) is tossed ...

  • Should I Take a DUI Breath Tests| Illinois Dui Attorney Although breath ***ysis is probably the most commonly used technique by law enforcement in attempting to establish whether or not a suspect was driving with alcohol in the system beyond a legal limit, the reliability of the tests has been called into question. Some scientists and experts think that breath tests, as they are currently administered by police, are very inaccurate, as far as their ability to measure blood alcohol content or BAC. Some courts have thrown out breath test results because of their unreliability. In 2002, the Washington Supreme Court ruled that a woman couldn't have her driver's license suspended because of possible problems with the reliability of an alcohol breath test. The woman challenged an administrative suspension of her driver's license. The case focused on the reliability of thermometers used in breath-test machines. The thermometers are used to test the machines' accuracy. Operators test the machines by getting a reading from an alcohol and water mixture. That mixture must be kept at 34 degrees centigrade, and that is where the thermometer comes in. The Supreme Court ruled that because evidence wasn't produced to show that the thermometer on the machine used to give the woman a breath test had been certified as reliable, her license couldn't be suspended. At least one court has even reversed DUI convictions on the grounds that breath tests are inherently unreliable. In State v. McGinley, 550 A.2d 1305 (NJ Super. 1988), the New Jersey ...
  • 1942 British Tanks for Russia May 1942. British Movietone News. Vignettes of the British Crusader, Covenanter, Matilda and Valentine tanks being readied for shipment to the north Russian port of Murmansk. Crusader: One of the primary cruiser tanks of the United Kingdom during World War II, the Tank, Cruiser, Mk VI Crusader (A15) was perhaps the most important British tank of the North African Campaign. However, due to its reputation for unreliability and relatively thin armour, it was replaced by American tanks for the invasion of Italy. Over 5300 were built. Valentine: The most numerous British manufactured tank of World War II, the Tank, Infantry, Mk III, Valentine was known mainly for its low cost and high reliability. Covenanter: The Tank, Cruiser, Mk V, Covenanter (A13 Mk III) was a British Cruiser tank of the Second World War. It was named for the Covenanters, a Scottish religious faction in the British Isles at the time of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. The Covenanter was the first cruiser tank design to be given a name. Matilda: The Tank, Infantry, Mk II, Matilda II (A12) (sometimes referred to as Senior Matilda) was a British tank of World War II. In a somewhat unorthodox move, it shared the same name as the Tank, Infantry, Mk I (A11). The name Matilda itself comes from a cartoon duck. Matilda is also an old Teutonic female name meaning "mighty battle maid".

From now on, if someone tells me to read a book by her, I'll simply direct them to this video. It's hilarious that this woman actually claims to be a scholar, and an expert on comparative religion. According to her own website (we know just how reliable it is), "truth", the only degrees she has are a bachelors in Liberal Arts, and a degree in Greek civilization. This hardly makes her a scholar, much less an Egyptologist. Video clips and websites used: "ZEITGEIST, Part 1 (Religion)" Debunked?
