  • UO Tale #14 "That Which Lurks Upon Fire Isle" Edit: Many thanks for the 'Likes' and Comments folks! I was wondering whether this late video would get a warm reception since I feel I'm letting down my Subscribers; I'm taking forever to produce stuff now. But alas, you folks are awesome! :D Old and new names appearing in the comments, I sincerely appreciate everyone's thoughts, thanks for taking the time to speak your mind! ^^ Part One of... well... One! Welcome to Tale #14! Intro: It's been too long since I uploaded some material. I've done a couple of video's over the past few weeks which have been an abysmal failure, this one I originally considered unpublishable but after re-watching, it's not as shabby as I thought. Tale #14: Struggling with Dungeons to pick and choose from, I decided to think outside the box a little and check out the "Monster Camps" positioned around the Britannia world. I'd say by far, the Fire Temple (I tend to call it the "Demon Pit", god knows why) is one of the most difficult, so naturally I pick this place and die some! Featuring Regular & Greater Dragons, Daemons and Drakes, it brags some hard-hitting, magically inundated Enemies to deal with! I manage to fall a few of the creatures without embarrassing myself too much I think :P I hope this short video after weeks of nothingness remotely satiates the few people looking out for new footage ^^;; Thanks for watching! Techy Stuff: Some Changes! 1) Video Capture is now done with Lagarith (Loss-less Compression) & Virtualdub, which greatly ...

  • The Gospel According to Acharya S When I first wrote these essays in the early 90s, those who read them thought they were revolutionary--and unpublishable. The publishing industry back then was such that if you did not have a publisher of significance-and there were relatively few--you could expect to sell a handful of copies and to remain obscure and unknown. Writers were at the mercy of overburdened editors and their massive slush piles. Once the internet became fairly popular, however, revolutionary writings such as these found a home, as did eventually also the world of small publishing using print-on-demand. The internet is the great equalizer, as self-published or small publisher books compete side by side with the big-name companies, and a controversial book like this one becomes a feasible project. What you are holding, therefore, is something that would have been difficult if not impossible to create and propagate just a couple of decades ago. In the future, with the push for censorship as concerns religious cults, such a book may again become nonviable, banned and burned. In this regard, read it while you can, before it is put on the Index of the next Inquisition! "The Gospel According to Acharya S has over 130 illustrations!" "This 'Purple Bible' is the antidote to the world's insanity-producing 'holy scriptures!'" Be sure to check out all the great excerpts below--and remember, the book is fully illustrated, with inline illustrations right next to the text! At 204 pages, this 5x8 book is an ...

  • English Final final.mp4 What's American About American Literature? American literature is apple pie. Apple pie, sweet parasitic apple pie. Just instant gratification is all you need. A warm slice prepared for you by your endearing mother. Just a little slice to hold you over... Or maybe two. A warm, decadent slice of sunshine on a rainy day.... but just for a while. But a while's all you need. Just something to make you feel okay for the time being. Just a little slice of something to combat the flaws which are the building blocks and foundation of this society in which we sit upon. Warm apple pie. I'm addressing you. Are you going to let our emotional life be run by Time Magazine? I'm obsessed by Time Magazine. I read it every week. Its cover stares at me every time I slink past the corner candystore. I read it in the basement of the Berkeley Public Library. It's always telling me about responsibility. Businessmen are serious. Movie producers are serious. Everybody's serious but me. It occurs to me that I am America. I am talking to myself again. Asia is rising against me. I haven't got a chinaman's chance. I'd better consider my national resources. My national resources consist of two joints of marijuana millions of genitals an unpublishable private literature that goes 1400 miles and hour and twentyfivethousand mental institutions. • Rehearsing "Il ***ne dell'aria" in April 2006 This is the rehearsal of the second movement of Luciano Chessa's Il ***ne dell'aria (RAI Trade) at the Auditorium Lingotto in Turin in April 2006, performed by the Orchestra of the 2006 Suzuki World Convention (Edoardo Narbona, conductor), and featuring the Piccoli Cantori di Torino (Carlo Pavese, conductor--not pictured). The concert is produced by IPEC (International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour). Clip shot by Maria Alessandra Chessa. Please note that this clip only includes the second movement of a much larger three-movement piece. This children-choir Mahler-esque song is framed by two movements of rather abstract and eerie orchestral music. This song is meant to come as a surprise: an exotic manufact from a far-away space. Naturally, if you only listen to this second movement, the said structural feature is lost and you are left with a cute (although also delicately unsettling) song. Here's what the author says: Il ***ne dell'aria (1996/2006) is a song by the same title preceded and followed by Cirri and Cirri II, two choir-less orchestral movements. The title is derived from Eugene Ionesco's Le pieton de l'air. Although I have known of it since my ***age years, I read this theatre play only after composing the text, finding in it--surprisingly--many unforeseeable connections. The song is a simple utopian take on the incorporeality and the impossibility of Perfection and Goodness within the human sphere. Il ***ne dell'aria Ha mente chiara, libero è ...
  • Drupal's Siren Song Response - FAIL After reading Dries Buytaert's response to the Sitecore Whitepaper entitled "The Siren Song of Open Source CMS" I wanted to comment on my experience and that of many clients and prospects who I've spoken to. I've made two attempts to add a comment. The first, last night, resulted in some cryptic message about some security issue needing attention and then again today with this video showcasing the results. The frustration I have and that is shared by many who I've spoken to is that for a non-technical client if this was the result of their posting it would incur support costs by their developer to identify the problem and find a solution - the exact "hidden" cost that I am eluding to in my post. I realize that there are numerous reasons why something like this can happen and although I am a bit surprised, since I would hope Mr. Buytaert would have tested the functionality of the page thoroughly, it is indicitative of the types of isses that many Drupal clients face daily.

  • : Yann Martel discusses his new novel, BEATRICE AND VIRGIL Yann Martel's astonishing new novel begins with a successful writer attempting to publish his latest book, made up of a novel and an essay. Henry plans for it to be a "flip book" that the reader can start at either end, reading the novel or the essay first, because both pieces are equally concerned with representations of the Holocaust. His aim is to give the most horrifying of tragedies "a new choice of stories", in order that it be remembered anew and in more than one way. But no one is sympathetic to his provocative idea. What is your book about?" his editor repeatedly asks. Should it be placed in the fiction section of a bookstore or with the non-fiction books? a book seller asks. And where will the barcode go? To them, Henry's book is an unpublishable disaster. Faced with severe and categorical rejection, Henry gives up hope. He abandons writing, moves with his wife to a foreign city, joins a community theatre, becomes a waiter in a chocolatería. But then he receives a package containing a scene from a play, photocopies from a short story by Flaubert - about a man who hunts animals down relentlessly - and a short note: "I need your help." Intrigued, Henry tracks down his correspondent, and finds himself in a strange part of the city, walking past a stuffed okapi into a taxidermist's workshop. The taxidermist - also named Henry - says he has been working on his play, A 20th-Century Shirt, for most of his life, but now he needs Henry's help to describe his characters ...
