  • RLA & RLD - Meiosis Song LYRICS: Hey, Im a reproductive cell, I go through meiosis. I have a mommy and a daddy Creating variations. Meiosis has 2 parts, Unlike mitosis, But each part has 4 steps Leading to cell divisions. First comes prophase and metaphase, Then anaphase and telophase, Ending up with cytokinesis, Now having 2 new cells Each with some di- Ploid chromosomes Prophase 1 has crossing over This is 1 way chromosomes Create variations In metaphase number 1, Homo chromos line Up on the equator Randomly Anaphase Separates Them from each other. Telophase forms nuclei for the cyto split Now we have 2 new diploid cells. Time for meiosis 2 Which is the same as mitosis. The only difference is, Meiosis starts With haploid cells While mitosis starts with diploid cells Mitosis only produce 2 new cells Meiosis is so magical. 1 cell, then 2, then 4 in all. Hard to ignore, so usable. Too good to deny it. Aint no big deal, its important. That was it for meiosis. I hope yall have learned something. Its not difficult, if you Remember this lyric. Meiosis Meiosis Is the beginning of a population. Now youve learned about meiosis. I liked it!

  • Mitosis Mitosis is the process of cell division which separates the chromosomes in its cell nucleus into two identical sets. It is generally followed immediately by cytokinesis, which divides the nuclei, cytoplasm, organelles and cell membrane to form two daughter cells containing roughly equal shares of these cellular components. Mitosis consists of four phases: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase. At the onset of Prophase, chromatin condenses together to form chromosome. The nuclear membrane and nucleolus starts disappearing and the centrosomes, containing a pair of centrioles, start moving to opposite ends to form spindle fibre. During metaphase, the spindle fibres begin to interact with the chromosomes, and the centromeres of the chromosomes align the chromosomes at the equatorial plate or metaphase plate. Kinetochore of the replicated chromosome is pointed toward one side of the spindle. Anaphase follows metaphase in which the spindle fibres shorten and the centromere splits. The separated sister chromatids are pulled along behind the centromeres and move to opposite sides of the cell. In telophase, the sister chromatids are almost over to the other end of the cell. Cytokenisis finally cleaves the cytoplasm making two daughter cells that are identical. Mitosis animation takes a deep look into the entire process of mitosis.

  • Biology: Phases of Meiosis In this lesson, Professor Wolfe starts out with an overview of Meiosis and then discusses and explains the processes of both Meiosis I and Meiosis II. During the stages of meiosis I, homologous chromosomes pair and are segregated into separate cells. These stages include prophase I, metaphase I, anaphase I and telophase I. Professor Wolfe will explain what happens durring each of these different phases. He will focus specifically on what is happening with the cell's chromosomes during these phases. In prophase I, homologous chromosomes synapse and form tetrads. In metaphase I, homologous chromosomes organize and line up. In anaphase I, homologous chromosome pairs separate, and in telophase I, a cleavage furrow forms, creating two cells. Each created cell has one chromosome from each homologous pair. During the stages of meiosis II, the doubled chromosomes are divided and move into separate cells as in mitosis. Meiosis II is also made up of stages (prophase II, metaphase II, anaphase II and telophase II), and you will also learn what happens in each of these phases, again with a focus on what is going on with the chromosomes. In prophase II, the nuclear envelope breaks down and spindle fibers form. In metaphase II, chromosomes line up on the metaphase plate. In anaphase II, chromatids separate, and in telophase II, haploid cells are eventually created. After meiosis II there are four cells, each containing the haploid genetic complement. This is the ...

  • The Mitosis Medley (9th Grade Biology Project) For the project, we had to make a song about mitosis. This was for Mrs. Cox class, period 1. Here's our performance (: Starring: -Patrick Perez -Aaron Lavine -Monica Vathanavarin -Tyler Postle -Jonathan Chang Credit to Kathy Pham for filming! Thank you Kathy :D Lyrics: (Birthday ***) Its Mitosis so I know you want to divide out. Two daughter cells are the product of this division. 2 and 3, add them together. That makes 5, and thats how many steps there are Mitosis (3x) (Oooh) (TiK ToK) Oh oh oh (2x) Step one, interphase. Period of cell growth. Synthesize, organize molecules and organelles. G1, S, G2 are all part of interphase. (Oh Oh Oh) Two chromosomes with centriole pairs. (Replay) Prophase is the second part of this stage in the nucleus of the cell. Nananana at every rate, centrioles begin to separate (-ate, -ate) Chromatins start to condense into visible chromosomes. Nucleus disappears, centrioles reappear at opposite ends. Who wouldve ever knew, a mitotic spindle would form. Its worldwide across the cell, pulling chromatids away. (Tie Me Down) Though its only for a few minutes, But uh, its still really important like, These chromosomes Lining up at the metaphase plate And right now theyre pretty much away from it Division, I think that they should wait for it I mean later we divide things out But not right now cause, Now were in metaphase The third stage Lining up with all the chromosomes Across the cell Happening right now Its lining up with chromosomes At its ...

  • Hotel Cell Division Hotel Cell Division To the tune of Hotel California by the Eagels In order to reproduce, a cell must divide Thus making two daughter cells, that will then multiply This division is broken down into six simple steps Which all together make up M phase Which we will describe! The first step is prophase Where replicated chromosomes condense And the mitotic spindles form From centrosomes that are moving apart Prometaphase begins as the nuclear envelope breaks down And chromosomes attach to spindle microtubules Via their kinetochores Prophase is the first step of cell division Then prometaphase Then comes metaphase Anaphase is the next step of cell division Then theres telophase and cytokinesis!!! Chromosomes align during metaphase, at the metaphase plate So that during anaphase they can separate Each pair of sister chromatids is divided in two As the kinetochore microtubules get shorter, and the spindle poles move apart Then next comes telophase Where the chromosomes reach the spindle poles And then, the contractile ring begins to form to divide the cytoplasm And at the same time the nuclear envelope reforms Thus leading to cytokinesis Where the cell splits in two Prophase is the first step of cell division Then prometaphase Then comes metaphase Anaphase is the next step of cell division Then theres telophase and cytokinesis!!! This cycle continues Again and again First going through interphase, which sets up for M G1, S, and G2 Each play their own role In making sure there is ...
  • Meiosis (Unfaithful by Rihanna Parody) For educational purposes. Yes I'm a nerd and I love it. Story about life, mitosis done twice Also known as meiosis But they're not the same, got diff'rent outcomes It's really why life exists Starts in Prophase 1, 4 chromosomes, two from mom and dad So 2n equals 4, 2 lined up on the floor These are sister chromatids This part is metaphase, spindle fibers have formed. Pulling apart dyads, the cell is transformed Disjunction occurred Together at the chiasma Crossing over happens With genetic recombination This creates variation That was Metaphase 1 Telophase is short, and the 2 cells form Because of Cytokinesis The next part is Meiosis 2 We kinda skip interphase Nucleoli is gone, centrioles at poles Go onto Metaphase Chromosomes line up on the equatorial plane Now it's a single file line Then anaphase pulls them apart from the microtubule bind Then in telophase 2, cleavage is deployed And the nuclear envelope reforms 4 cells are haploid But it isn't this easy Errors occur all the time throughout a single cell Even if you look fine You can get 2 X and a Y You can even get down syndrome Caused by Trisomy 21 Too many problems Can cause cancer Or birth defects But we can detect it Cells aren't perfect Perfect, Perfect Erasing part of the sequence Is known as deletion And creating repeats of parts Is known as duplication If a segment is reversed You have Inversion And if a segment is misplaced: Translocation, no no no Yeah
  • Mitosis Dance This dance is for an extra-credit project for our Biology class. The stages of mitosis are represented throughout. We begin with Interphase: we are all grouped together, showing an intact nuclear membrane. As we move out from the center, Prophase is shown: we represent the break-down of the nuclear membrane, the centrioles migrating to opposite ends of the cell, and the spindle fibers beginning to form. When we all align along the middle, we are the chromosomes during Metaphase. Anaphase is when we move apart from each other, the sister chromatids separating and being pulled to opposite ends of the cell by the spindle fibers. In telophase, we regroup into three (we know that this is an inaccuracy, as mitosis produces only two daughter cells) groups of three and get in close; the reforming of the nuclear membrane. This represents Telophase. Finally, we do Interphase again: to the tune of Zoot Suit Riot, we swing - showing the relaxation- and growth-period of the cell-cycle. Enjoy it. I know that my grade does. PS - The girl in the center is NOT REALLY PREGNANT. Don't ask.

  • Mitoziz 'Mr. P' with his first bio rap on the stages of Mitosis. Mitoziz I've got a story, to tell that will amaze I'm laying down these lyrics to navigate this maze Cellular division is locked in my gaze You've got you're pro, meta, ana, and telo phase The prophase of mitosis is the first thing The DNA is wraps up into a little string We got chromatids when its done spinning The nuclear envelope is disappearing Next is metaphase, part number 2 The chromosomes are lined up, like laces on my shoe The chromatids are doubled, here's what they're gonna do The spindle fibers grab them and stick to them like glue Next comes anaphase, part number 3 The chromatids are flocking, like birds to a tree To the ends of the cell, so now you can see The chromatids are seperate, and migratory Telophase is last, in case you're unsure The cell is headed back to the norm The membrane of the nucleus begins to re-form From the parent cell, two daughter cells are born Now my rhyme is over to help you recall The stages of mitosis, for once and for all So if you don't remember just what happens when Please rewind this track, and play it back again
