  • Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz: Medicine in the Talmud Rabbi Steinsaltz elaborates on the various proscribed medicines in the Talmud. He notes that most medicinal treatments recommended are verbal, with little from animal and mineral products. The medicine in the Talmud seemed to remain rather independent from medicine of its surrounding culture (eg four-humor theory of humorism). He suggests that this may have been one reason why Jewish doctors moved away from Talmudic medicinal recommendations. The Rabbi also highlights certain medical achievements of Talmudic medicine.
  • Rense & Ted Pike - The Talmudic Takeover The Rev Ted Pike has been campaigning for decades against the erosion of Western sanity by a cult of religious followers of Judaism. Here, with his considerable experience, he articulates the rapid swing to the right in Israel, and the erosion of civil liberties in the US, all perpetrated by right wing Jews, albeit often under a title far removed from their real agenda. NB: Ted Pike's opposition to extremism in ANY form is a God-given right which also happens to be guaranteed under the United States Constitution and the First Amendment. Opposing Zionism and the policies of the zionist, extremist, racist, apartheid, genocidal government of the state of Israel and its agents and sycophants and their agendas here in the US has less than NOTHING to do with 'anti-semitism'...the shop-worn, cheap smear tactic used to defame and slander anyone who opposes the excesses, machinations and plots of zionism and extremism. Ted Pike has every right to his opinion and no one, not a single person has done more to stand up for Freedom of Speech and to fight zionist so-called 'hate laws' than has Ted Pike. Censorship and threats like those in this comment are typical of the enemies of freedom for ALL Americans.

The terms Talmud and Gemara are often used interchangeably. The Gemara is the basis for all codes of rabbinic law and is much quoted in other rabbinic literature. The whole Talmud is also traditionally referred to as Shas (ש"ס), a Hebrew abbreviation of shisha sedarim, the "six orders" of the Mishnah. • Talmud Teachings on Jesus part 1 Theoretical Cabala Two qualities dominate the theoretical Cabala. Every attribute of Intelligence, of Knowing, Loving or Ruling is stripped from the God of the Bible and handed over to pagan spirits, who are invoked as in ancient paganism as the "other gods" denounced by the Prophets. This act of stripping God of Intelligence and reducing Him to a mass of self-perking essence, the En Sof, is, admittedly, pantheism (the sum of nature being God, without any Chief engineer) And, whether called "emanation" by the Cabala, "immanence" by Talmudic Spinoza, or renamed by Hegel; for "the real and ideal is taught in the same way in the Cabala as in Hegel. (Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 474), or "dialectical materialism" by Karl Marx, it is the same old atheistic concept of nature just waiting for MAN to run it and push it around. The Luciferin god is always MAN.
  • Mishna & Talmud Not From Moses - Why Not Be Karaite? [p 3/6] CLAIM 3) The words of the Mishnah and Talmud are clearly the words of men living in the 2nd-5th centuries CE and absent are the familiar Biblical formulae "And the Lord spoke unto Moses saying," and "Thus saith the Lord". This argument would only be a challenge if the Mishna and / or Talmud claimed themselves to be prophetic texts... but they don't claim to be prophetic texts. The Mishna and the Talmud claim to contain the legal rulings of the ancient Mosaic Court. The Tanakh ('old testament') constantly refers to these legislators and the divinely appointed authority given to them. (Examples will be given later in the clip.) The Tanakh does not only teach that prophets would be ordained by YHWH; it also teaches the positions of king, and of legislators, and of officers who inforce the legislation. The Mishna was simply the first code, authorized by the Mosaic Court, which was intended only to serve as a GUIDE for public teaching of the Oral Instruction. It was intentionally very abbrivated, since the Mosaic Court was still functioning at the time of its composition, and the members of the Court did not yet feel an immediate threat of being overthrown by invading occupied forced. The Mishna was not intended as an exhaustive codification of all the Oral Instruction, neither of the Oral Instruction from Sinai (halakha l-Mosha mi-sinai) or Oral Rabbinic Instruction (divrei sofrim) from the Mosaic Court. . CLAIM 4) The Rabbis claim that the "Oral Law" is the official ...

  • Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz: Finding Directives Within the Talmud Rabbi Steinsaltz discusses the general nature of Talmudic directives as a segue into his discussion of the Jewish approach to medical ethics questions. Comparing Talmudic Law to English Law, he describes how the Talmud focuses legal discussions around specific precedent cases. The Rabbi says that the Talmud consists of disagreeing statements on many topics spread throughout its pages and that in approaching current medical ethics questions one must piece together all of these statements in order to arrive at solutions.Rabbi Steinsaltz discusses the value of human life in Judaism, a value that takes precedence over almost every other commandment. He suggests that this value serves as a foundational principle off of which many medical ethics discussions build.

  • Insight Into the Minds of the Talmudic Sages A question presented to me on one of my videos made me understand that erroneous presumptions about how the Sages of the Talmud thought are made by people, assuming that the Sages thought like the Greeks. That presumption would lead to totally misunderstanding the Talmudic scholars reasons for discussing matters they did and assuming that they were discussing their own opinions and coming to conclusions. That the Sages of the Talmud discussed any and all matters in order to see to what moral conclusions and outcomes they would lead, is evidenced in the famous amusing discussion of whether or not an elephant could serve as the side of a kosher succah. Proverbs 8 : 27 When He established the heavens, I was there; when He set a circle upon the face of the abyss Isaiah 40: 22 It is He that sits above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in Job 22: 14 Thick clouds are a covering to Him, that He sees not; and He walks in the circuit of heaven.' The Hebrew word used in these passages is chug, which means a circle, a circuit -- or, as we would say today, an orbit. They do not say the Earth is a sphere. They say that it is a closed circuit. They knew that one cannot fall off the side. The experience of the Earth as a sphere is the experience of the Earth in constricted consciousness and experiencing 3 dimension. The first passage shows ...

  • Babylonian Talmud THE JEWISH RELIGION Its Influence Today. What is Talmud? The Talmud is composed in a mixture of Hebrew and Aramaic (the latter was the spoken vernacular of Babylonian Jews). In general, formal statements by the Amora'im are formulated in Hebrew, whereas the explanations and discussions of those statements are worded in Aramaic. The first part of a Talmudic passage is the Mishna. The beginning of a Gemara passage, following the Mishna passage to which it is attached, is designated by an abbreviated form of the word printed in large bold letters. www.sacred-
  • TALMUDIC UNIVERSITY BERKOWITZ TRIBUTE The stirring back story of the establishment of the Talmudic University of Miami Beach, as seen through the eyes of the generations who followed its founder and namesake, Moshe Chaim Berkowitz - owner of a legendary string of South Florida kosher hotels including the Crown and Saxony. Documentary filmmaker Jerry Levine traces the roots of the yeshiva back to Sighet Romania, where Berkowitz and Nobel Prize winner Elie Weisel were best friends, and then suffered together through Auschwitz together. From the ashes of that tragedy rose the vision of an American yeshiva that preserved the best traditions of authentic European Jewish education. The film also explains how renown scholar and Rosh Yeshiva Ha Rav Yochanon Zweig became its leader, thanks to another Miami Beach legend - Rabbi Alexander S. Gross.

Hoffman's point of departure is a Zionist protest over the appearance of Dr. Norman Finkelstein at Rutgers University in November, 2010. Hoffman is the author of "Judaism Discovered" and "The Great Holocaust Trial." He is a former reporter for the New York bureau of the Associated Press. • History of the Talmud 6/7 Arte France production - History of the Talmud. This documentary by Pierre Henri Salfati explores the essence of Talmudic wisdom (Hebrew: תַּלְמוּד talmūd "instruction, learning", from a root lmd "teach, study"), which is a central text of mainstream Judaism, in the form of a record of rabbinic discussions pertaining to Jewish law, ethics, customs and history. The Talmud has two components: the Mishnah (compiled 200 CE), the first written compendium of Judaism's Oral Law; and the Gemara (compiled 500 CE), a discussion of the Mishnah and related Tannaitic writings that often ventures onto other subjects and expounds broadly on the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible). The process of "Gemara" proceeded in the two major centers of Jewish scholarship, the Land of Israel and Babylonia. Correspondingly, two bodies of ***ysis developed, and two works of Talmud were created. The older compilation is called the Jerusalem (Yerushalmi) Talmud. It was compiled during the fourth century in Israel. The Babylonian (Bavli) Talmud was compiled about the year 500 CE, although it continued to be edited later. The Oral Law was far from monolithic; rather, it varied among various schools. The most famous ...
