  • Eskrima w/ Kali Sticks Conditioning/Practice by Tuan Tran Train with me online at Hey everyone, Tuan here with another video on things I like to do with it comes to conditioning. Eskrima or escrima refers to a class of Filipino martial arts that emphasize weapon-based fighting with the stick, staff or knife. Alternative terms which have entered into common usage include kali and arnis. Eskrima and arnis are the most common among the many names often used in the Philippines today to refer to these arts. The teaching of the basic skills in eskrima are traditionally simplified. With limited time to teach intricate moves, only techniques that were proven effective in battle and could easily be taught en masse were used. This allowed villagers, generally not professional soldiers, a measure of protection against other villages, as well as foreign invaders. This philosophy of simplicity is still used today and is the underlying base of eskrima. Because of this approach, eskrima and the Filipino martial arts in general are often mistakenly considered to be "simple". However, this refers only to its systematization, not effectiveness. To the contrary, beyond the basic skills lies a very complex structure and a refined skillset that takes years to master. Hope you enjoy

  • My city Bucharest Bucharest (Romanian: București) is the capital, industrial, cultural, and financial centre of Romania. It is the largest city in Romania, located in the southeast of the country, and lies on the banks of the Dâmboviţa River. Bucharest was first mentioned in documents as early as 1459. Since then it has gone through a variety of changes, becoming the state capital of Romania in 1862 and steadily consolidating its position as the centre of the Romanian mass media, culture and arts. Its eclectic architecture is a mix of historical (neo-classical), interbellum (Bauhaus and Art Deco), Communist-era and modern. In the period between the two World Wars, the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned Bucharest the nickname of the "Little Paris of the East" (Micul Paris). Although many buildings and districts in the historic centre were damaged or destroyed by war, earthquakes and Nicolae Ceaușescu's program of systematization, many survived. In recent years, the city has been experiencing an economic and cultural boom. According to January 1, 2009 official estimates, Bucharest proper has a population of 1944367. With his perennial focus on the challenges of new technology and science, he is a key figure in contemporary art. His works, which often have a cultural political background, have always been at the forefront of media art. Richard Kriesche. Capital + Code, 2008 In his Capital + Code exhibition, Richard Kriesche homes in on interconnections, focusing on the structure of phenomena. In the Aesthetics of Capital light installation (2008) especially created for the Kunsthaus Graz, he bathes everything in a technoid computer-blue light. The installation uses eight projectors and visualization software (which also sees use in the money markets) to project market-type fluctuations on the interior wall of the building. The constantly changing images are real-time responses to search questions on Google involving different combinations of the words art, work, capital and freedom. The images are an indication of an elusive global state. The installation may seem clairvoyant, since it was conceived more than a year before the recent dramatic events on the world's financial markets. It thus gives a graphic picture of the interconnections and interdependence of complex relationships that determine not only today's financial world but indeed the entire image of the world. For Kriesche, this ...

Martial arts all have similar objectives to physically defeat other persons or defend oneself or others from physical threat. Some martial arts take a great deal of their underlying theory from beliefs systems. Most specifically, Buddhism, and in Asia have been practiced in harmony with others, such as Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism or Shinto while others follow a particular code of honor. Martial arts are considered as both an art and a science. Many arts are also practiced competitively, most commonly as combat sports, but competitions may also take the form of "forms competition." The term martial arts refers to the art of warfare (derived from Mars the Roman god of war) and comes from a 15th-century European term referring to what are now known as historical European martial arts specifically to what is today known as Historical Fencing, but is now most commonly ...
  • TOWN HALL OF BUCARAMANGA CITY - PROJECT The public administration in Colombia is showing a changing process which starts to raise new precisions due to the forward technologies, the security conditions that must be managed and the ease of access and the diligence to handle the people. Thats the reason why we reach to the conclusion that our public buildings have become obsolete due to the lack of means to face up the new millennium demands and a redefinition that fits the conditions of public order of our society. JUSTIFICATION Taking in to account the historic, social and politic background that we live, its necessary to redefine how the public administration has been working on, in order to reach new process that speeds up and makes an efficient management in the town hall. The idea is to attempt some cores as a result of the lacks we have identified: •To give a solution of systematization and nation modernization problems that satisfies the output standards of the new millennium. •To give a solution of insecurity problem of our society that affects directly the public management. •To give a solution of accessibility and internal operation of local management by means of an architectural project which articulate with all the administrative functions. URBAN CRITERIONS: Taking into account the elements that exert influence in the area, we have: The law court, The Luis Carlos Galan square, The Saint Laureano Church, The chapel of Dolores and The Garcia Rovira Park will be some of the determining buildings when ...

Vestibules, reference-information area with general and reading catalogues of different types both for students and doctors of science as well as administrative and technical are accommodated here. These parts connect between each other like blood-vessels by means of special telelifts that deliver a literature from stock-depository to readers as well as to production area for systematization, literature processing and restoration. A main enter for readers is decided on the side of F. Scorina Avenue. It conducts to the central vestibule in which control functions are carried out as well as there is a cloak-romm, reference registration and information area, loan division here. A reader enters on the main staircase from the vestibule into the main hall of reading catalogues and cart indexes, reference-bibliographic department including the electronic one. • "Sweating it out between sculptures" Xerius's photos around Târgu Jiu, Romania A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Târgu Jiu, Romania by TravelPod blogger Xerius titled "Sweating it out between sculptures" Xerius's travel blog entry: "Now here's a place that's more characteristic of an industrialized Romanian city. It may lie in one of Oltenia's more attractive areas, just at the edge of the Carpathians, but the Communists really did a job with it. Târgu Jiu is the capital of Gorj county, and as such it was given special attention for "modernization" during the Ceausescu era. Making matters worse, it lies in the center of one of the most important industrial regions in the country: the mining center of the Jiu Valley. That combination meant it was guaranteed to receive the dubious gift of massive systematization - the bulldozing of its entire central core and its replacement with some of the most unlovely architecture imaginable. As a result, the city could easily go on a Top 10 list for "Ugliest City in Romania." The thing is, you can tell that it used to be a very charming place. A number of grand old buildings have survived - often hemmed in between shockingly unattractive apartment blocks or stuck in a group in the corner of a square, stripped of the surrounding townscape that they once blended into. The university building, former central high school, town hall and rector's palace are all gorgeous examples of Romania's indigenous Brâncovenesc architecture. Some backstreets desperately cling to an elegant 19th century air ...

The term and the art most probably originates from the Spanish word "esgrima" which is the term for fencing. • THE ESKRIMADORS ACADEMY (BIRMINGHAM) ENGLAND (07903960133) .wmv eskrimador@ mobile 07903960133 The Eskrima or escrima refers to a class of ESKRIMADORS who play Filipino martial arts that emphasize weapon-based fighting with the stick, staff or knife.

  • Milton Babbitt, String Quartet No 4 1970 Part One "Listen, don't worry about whether or not the music sounds coherent to you the first time you hear it. What about the first time you hear a sentence in Hungarian? -- assuming youre interested in listening to and learning Hungarian." Milton Babbitt Although Babbitt is disinclined to discuss his music in terms of aural or aesthetic pleasure, it undoubtedly provides both. And no work better proves this than the String Quartet No. 4, composed in 1970 and dedicated to the Julliard Quartet. Cast in a single movement, the quartets musical surface is filled with widely-spaced, pointillistic gestures, some of bleak austerity, some of ferocious intensity. Textures are constantly in flux, but always possess a luminous transparency redolent of Webern. Individual voices and embroidered by an ornate filigree of dynamics, timbres, articulations, and performing techniques, all of which change from note to note. Lines are fragmented, leaping precipitously from one register to another, dislocated by the absence of metrical pulse. Never doctrinaire in his employment of 12-tone theory, Babbitt turns repeated pitches into a recurring motive, and uses an increasing amount of doubling as the quartet progresses. Like his teacher, the great composer Roger Sessions, Milton Babbitt also reinterpreted Schoenbergs legacy, but he was more interested in systematizing the method than in imitating the language. Babbitt, who was introduced to Schoenberg shortly after the latters arrival in New York in ...

It would have been nice to sleep in some, but after 6:35am, there wasn't anything else heading this way until after 1pm. Always eager to make the most of the day then, I just had to suck up the glaring lack of sleep and push ahead. Now most people that cross into Romania from the western borders make a beeline for Transylvania. Nothing against the place, as it's fascinating, beautiful and well worth anyone's time, but I've already seen a good chunk of it and feel like I should try something new. And if there's one area of Romania that gets regularly ignored, it's the southern regions of Oltenia and Muntenia - the two parts of historic Wallachia. Some of it is perhaps for good reason: a lot of the terrain is more boring (heavy on flat plains) and many of the cities bore the heaviest brunt of Ceauºescu's grotesque industrialization and systematization schemes. But there are some intriguing sights around, even if they often struggle to steal the limelight back from places like Transylvania, Southern Bucovina and Maramureº. In my book though, it's that very absence of tourists that makes a visit attractive . . . well, that and simple curiosity (which tends to rule my travel decisions ...
