Casio Jazz Fernandes Sustainer PG-380 synth guitar This is about sound modification in the guitar: I modified the guitar completely. I install the sustainer pickup and fitted the electronic where the ROM card supposes to be and design a new aluminum cover plate in that place. The connector to the rom/ram card is now directed under the main large plate and the slot to a rom card .If I decide to change that rom card I will have to lift the back plate. I guess I will never have to do this as a have so many sound not explored yet. For switching from the different sound bank I have a push button that is directly accessed by my little fingers. I change the configuration of the sustainer and set up the guitar in stereo mode while the bridge and neck pickup are handled in active mode by the sustainer circuit I kept the middle pickup routed to the synth channel for true stereo at the output. At the flip of a switch the synth can take back the relay and send the signal to his channel while switching off the middle pickup. In no sustainer mode the middle pickup is active and connected to the 5 switch selector pickup. Modification has been done in the preamp circuit for a better signal from both channels. So far, that the synth volume has been replaced by a toggle switch with 2 volume position via a simple resistance. The synth rotary volume was not found practical in concerts situation. Strat Paul Guitar Jam with Fernandes Sustainer by MRJ Check out my band for more info: Here is a demo of a guitar I just finished building -- the Strat-Paul. It's a Les Paul body with a Stratocaster neck, equipped with a Floyd Rose. I recorded this video when I had some free time and I was working on writing new material for my band. All of this stuff was improvised on the spot! Sloppy, but it's how I come up with new riffs! I originally bought the guitar as a set-neck Les Paul, but the neck was broken beyond repair. I parted the guitar out and it sat around for a while, and then I decided to rebuild it so I would enjoy playing it more -- and since I prefer strat necks and floyd roses, that's what I used. I sawed the neck off completely, routed for the new neck, and routed the body for a floyd rose. I completely custom-rewired the guitar (it doesn't operate like a regular Les Paul anymore), and I put in a Fernandes FSK 101 sustainer kit. The bridge pickup is a Dimarzio pickup. Chris DeNicola - The Sustainer Song I've been putting this together since spring, and have since used this guitar in several NYBD performances. It's a real Kramer, with a Neptune New Jersey neck plate (that I forgot to show), and was the first guitar to feature the Floyd Rose Sustainer. It's not as powerful as a Sustainiac or a Fernandes, but it does the job nicely, and even without the sustainer, it's a hell of a guitar, with a HUGE sound. This performance was completely improvised, although I did have a few ideas of things I wanted to do. I just plugged into my MicroCube, lined it direct into my system and into Cakewalk SONAR 8, and started playing, experimenting with the three different modes of the sustainer as I went. I deliberately used some strange scales and bizarre intervals throughout, not necessarily trying to stay in any particular mode or key, just looking for sounds. After I was done, I went back and ***yzed exactly what I had played, and tried to fit chords to the weird things I was playing, and the mood I was looking for. This was no small task. If you listen, you can hear a VERY strange modulation between three unusual chords, and the only thing they have in common is a D - the note I was sustaining. I blended a couple of nice synth pads, and turned out a pretty spacey piece of music. Then I just added some reverb and delay, and mixed it nicely. Editing the video was the hardest part. Once I synced it up, I used Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 to create a multicam presentation, and then went ...
