  • Omnia - The Raven The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe - Performed by Omnia illustrated. Lyrics: Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, tapping at my chamber door. `'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door - Only this, and nothing more.' Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December, And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor. Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore - For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore - Nameless here forevermore. And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; Presently, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating `'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door - Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; - Merely this, and nothing more,' Out into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!' This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!' Merely this and nothing more. Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me ...

  • The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe ~ slam session beatnik version Published in 1845, this poem tells the story of a man lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. Here, it's midnight in December and he's reading old stories by firelight. He hears tapping, opens the door, but sees nothing. He then checks the window and there is a raven (bad omen). He basically tells the man he will never again see Lenore. It was criticized for its 'sing song quality' but I think it's perfect for lulling someone to sleep. I did my best to speak the words clearly so my accent wouldn't get in the way. Hopefully, you get it. (: Explaining some with the assistance of M.Cummings: each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor -- wood in fireplace was starting to ash out I sought to borrow from my books surcease of sorrow -- hoping that reading would give him a rest from his pain not the least obeisance made he -- he didn't bow at all perched upon a bust of Pallas -- sculpture of Athena the goddess of wisdom ghastly grim...night's Plutonian shore -- Plutonian references Pluto (god of underworld, where he thinks the bird is from) to hear discourse so plainly - he's shocked that the bird talks little relevancy bore -- but the bird didn't make sense she shall press ah nevermore -- Lenore will never be here again nepenthe - a drug that makes you forget quaff -- to drink Is there balm in Gilead? -- biblical reference Jeremiah 8:22 distant Aidenn -- heaven

  • The Raven (BING BLANG BLAOW) Someone had to put this on here... Original posts: Once upon a midnight dreary, while I grinded, buzzed and bleary, On an NL50 table as I'd often done before, Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow From my cash surcease of sorrow in the bosom of a whore - With the loose and lusty lady whom her patrons call Lenore - In my heart forevermore. Thus I sat heads up, unshaven, with a player named 'The Raven.' He existed for aggression, treating poker like it's war; With his beady gaze appraising, he was raising, always raising Any two! It was amazing, such opponents I adore: Wait for cards to loot the lagtard, massive profits lie in store! Soon that stack is his no more. Then my hand Fortuna graces with a pair of scarlet aces, And I flat. The Raven raises. I delay, my spirits soar. Call. The flop comes single-suited, and he shoves. It's undisputed: He is begging to be looted, he's a spewer to the core! Now he has it, something tells me. Intuition I ignore, And I make the call once more. "Bing blang blaow," the Raven uttered. "What the bloody f*ck?" I sputtered, And I numbly watched the table where the Raven made his score With a deuce and seven suited; flopped the flush, and I was looted. What a cooler! Nerves uprooted, anger seeped through every pore. Checked my roll, which was constructed through the nanos' endless chore: Eighty cents, and nothing more. Once upon a daytime dreary, while I was bored, tired and weary, Over a bright computer screen that's been seen before, While I was tired, nearly napping, on the internet came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping in Rich Petty's Xat galore, "Rich Petty is racing" sparked in my mind, "rapping away in that game of Kart, racing away in tons of galore!" Only this, and nothing more. Ah, distinctly I remember it, it was on the tenth of July. And each seperate racing racer begged desperately to race more and more, Eagerly I wanted to join not waiting for the morrow, but being suspended brought me sorrow, From my liscenses surcease of sorrow, sorrow for previous bannings from before, Remaining banned, nothing more. And the silken, sad, ghost of me, rustling in each purple recording wire, But I became thrilled, as I created a new liscnse never seen before, So that now, I could race, joining a friend of a friend of Petty's, "Tis great to me, tis great to all! This'll be one fun racing galore!" Continued, I spoke "Oh, this shall be a fun fun racing galore!" That was it and nothing more. Presently, I grew stronger; hesitating once no longer, 'Jshore', said I, 'thank you, I owe you,' I implored, But the fact was he joined another, who acted much like Petty's brother, But only a friend, nothing more and not his brother And I joined, and so did one another And here I race, and nothing more.
