  • Rebels All The Way, Bye Audism! Attention Rebels! Paddy Ladd, defining what Elite Subalterns, and Subaltern Elites meant. Ella's translation in her Blog site to help us better understand why we are divided among ourselves, while the hearing stand supreme over us. What's the difference between Elite Subalterns, and Subaltern Elites? Either side goes on, and brownose the hearing as if they are God's! Empower ourselves, and no longer seek approval from hearing people, but restore Deafhood! Just be Rebels instead of being a subaltern, would change everything eventually at Gallaudet and elsewhere likewise. Beat Audism, and Oppression being a Rebel all the way!

  • Indian Army Chief going wild ***ysts, media, civil society and well wishers of the region will keep discussing the two front war statement of the Indian army Chief (looked inspired from Bal Thackery and Bollywood ) who left no space for India to clear its position on increasing militancy, extremism and terrorism in so called secular India. However, Indian as well as international media will highlight this or not, remain a million dollar question. If India becomes pawn of international politics, it will not only damage regional peace but also destroy herself in totality. But at the moment, Indian army from its statements looks as being commanded by subalterns and not generals.

  • Nepal to end bonded labor Nepal to end bonded labor The government decided to abolish the Haliya system the other day. This is an important step towards establishing social justice through abolition of the remnants of feudal system. The system is ***ogous to bonded labor and is a glaring example of the ruthless feudal relations that survives on exploitation and expropriation of the returns of labor. Held in debt *** for generations those belonging to the lower rungs, especially untouchables and subalterns, are compelled to till and tend the land without being compensated for the labor. Once liberated and emancipated they should not be forced to till the land which is not owned by them as this is illegal and punishable by law. However, the decision needs effective implementation to ensure substantive improvement in the social and economic life of the bonded laborers. The abolition of the Haliyas system should be complemented by alternative means of livelihood so that the Haliyas can lead an independent and dignified life otherwise they might relapse into subjugation.
  • "Myfanwy" by John Betjeman It's pronounced mi-van-wee by the Welsh, but everybody else says mi-fan-wy. As in Round The Horne, a lady asked Kenneth "Have you seen Myfanwy?" He replied, "No, but I'm sure it's very nice." Betjeman, near the end, he was asked, "Looking back on your life, do you have any regrets?" He said "I wish I'd had more ***." I shed a tear for him. "Sardines" is a game: somebody hides and when you find their hiding place you cram yourself into their hiding place with them, like sardines in a can. It was a good excuse to get close to girls. Betjeman liked girls, their clothes and anything that had been "fortunate" enough to have been in contact with them, such as tennis rackets and bicycles. There's a lifetime's entertainment to be had from a dirty mind.

  • Instablogs Global Report 11-September-2008 Terrorism takes backseat to economy in US It would not be wholly correct to state that seven years after the September 11 attacks terrorism has taken a back seat. Since the attacks the federal government has made only limited progress toward preventing a catastrophic nuclear, biological or chemical attack on US soil and combating the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction abroad. The perpetuation of terrorism since then and manhandling of entire issue by US and its allies has posed serious threat to international peace as evident from subsequent events like 7/7 brutal attacks in London and elsewhere. The coalition forces seemed to have veered from their real target which comprised the elimination of Al Qaeda and Taliban forces. Instead, they are now fighting the drug trade which helps the militias retain their power and a resurgent Taliban to fight which the Bush administration recently took the decision to enhance the US troop levels. Although there has been no terrorist attack on the United States since 9/11 the threat of a new major attack is still very real. Both terrorism and economic recession are major challenges confronting US Nepal to end bonded labor The government decided to abolish the Haliya system the other day. This is an important step towards establishing social justice through abolition of the remnants of feudal system. Esguerra Philippine Daily Inquirer First Posted 03:14:00 12/11/2010 Filed Under: Benigno Aquino III, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Joker Arroyo, Crime and Law and Justice, Punishment Most Read Other Most Read StoriesxClose thisMANILA, Philippines—Dismayed by a Supreme Court ruling striking down President Aquino's truth commission, a dissident former Army general and his civilian allies on Friday launched a movement to encourage "truth tellers" to supply them with leads about corruption in the past Arroyo administration. Dubbed the July 1, 2010, Movement, the group led by retired General Danilo Lim vowed to use the information they will receive to build up cases against corrupt officials in the past administration, and to initiate "a shame campaign" against them. July 1, 2010, marked the first full day in office of Mr. Aquino, who actually assumed the presidency on June 30. In Congress, Senator Joker Arroyo criticized Malacañang for relying too much on the truth commission to go after former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, saying Mr. Aquino already had "massive forces" at his bidding to prosecute the former President. A former ally of the Aquino family, Senator Arroyo said that Mr. Aquino not only had the entire government machinery—particularly the Department of Justice—at his disposal. The President's allies also dominate the Senate and the House of Representatives, he added. "With these massive and ...

  • When did I become a "subaltern rebel"? Transcript: Ella Mae Lentz has discussed the concept of "subaltern rebels". I won't expand on it any further here since you can watch her vlog to see her explanation about it. After the vlog, I and several other people were discussing the concept, and one person asked me "what triggered me to become a subaltern rebel"? I was a bit stumped by that good question, and have thought about it. I backtracked in my personal history to when I read Paddy Ladd's book. Was that it? No. The book helped me to realize that if I want to see change, I have to be involved in making the change happen. But I already felt that way before that. So I went back a bit further, to when I worked as a psychologist at the residential schools, I saw the problems, but again, I had already felt rebellious, wanting to see change. Was it when I had read "Mask of Benevolence"? Not that, either. While I read it, I found myself agreeing with Lane's points, I saw nothing to disagree with, which means I had the rebellion inside at that point too. The same goes for when I had read "A Deaf Adult Speaks Out" by Leo Jacobs. At Gallaudet, I had developed a good sense of Deaf identity, even though I was very "dysconsciously audistic" at that time, but I still felt strong in my Deaf identity. Entering MSSD was a possible starting point, since I had started learning about being Deaf there, but it still didn't seem to fit. As I explored further, it finally came to me: when did I start becoming a subaltern rebel? It was ...
