  • COSTA RICA VULCANO POAS The Poás Volcano is an active stratovolcano in central Costa Rica. Poás has erupted 39 times since 1828.There are two crater lakes near its summit. The northern lake is known as the Laguna Caliente. It is one of the world's most acidic lakes, with a pH of almost 0, and as a consequence supports little or no aquatic life. Lake Botos, the southern lake, fills an inactive crater, which last erupted 7500BC. It is cold and clear, and is surrounded by a cloud forest located within the Poás Volcano National Park. Satellite imageIt was near the epicenter of a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in January 2009 that killed at least forty people and affected Fraijanes, Vara Blanca, the capital San José and the Central Valley region of Costa Rica. It also has had eruptive activity in 2009 involving minor phreatic eruptions and landslides within the northern active crater. Poás eruptions often include geyser-like ejections of crater-lake water.

  • Asin; Pagbabalik Asin; Pagbabalik : Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran Mayon Volcano, also known as Mount Mayon, is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay, in the Bicol Region, on the island of Luzon, in the Philippines. Renowned as the "perfect cone" because of its almost symmetrically conical shape, Mayon forms the northern boundary of Legazpi City. Local folklore refers to the volcano as Bulkang Magayon (Filipino: 'Magayon Volcano'), after the legendary heroine Daragang Magayon (Bikol: 'Lady Beautiful') Mayon Volcano is an active stratovolcano. The current cone was formed through pyroclastic and lava flows from past eruptions. Mayon is the most active of the active volcanos in the Philippines, having erupted over 49 times in the past 400 years. It is located on the eastern side of Luzon, beside the Philippine Trench which is the convergent boundary where the Philippine Sea Plate is driven under the Philippine Mobile Belt. Where a continental plate or belt of continental fragments meets an oceanic plate, the lighter continental material overrides the oceanic plate, forcing it down into the Earth's mantle. Magma, formed where the rock melts, may be forced through weaknesses in the continental crust caused by the collision of the tectonic plates. One such exit point is Mayon. Like other volcanoes located around the rim of the Pacific Ocean, Mayon is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. The church tower is what remains of the Cagsaua Church, which was buried by the 1814 eruption of Mayon ...
  • White Island Whakaari/White Island is an active andesite stratovolcano, situated 48 km (30 mi) from the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand, in the Bay of Plenty. The nearest mainland towns are Whakatane and Tauranga. The island is roughly circular, about 2 km (1.2 mi) in diameter, and rises to a height of 321 m (1053 ft) above sea level. However this is only the peak of a much larger submarine mountain, which rises up to 1600 m (5249 ft) above the nearby seafloor. Sulphur mining was attempted but was abandoned in 1914 after a mudflow killed all 10 workers. The main activities on the island now are guided tours and scientific research.

It is inside a larger caldera Ijen, which is about 20 kilometers wide. The Gunung Merapi stratovolcano (not to be confused with Central Java's Gunung Merapi) is the highest point of that complex. West of Gunung Merapi is the Ijen volcano, which has a one-kilometer-wide turquoise-colored acid crater lake. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried by hand from the crater floor. The largest concentration of post-caldera cones forms an EW-trending zone across the southern side of the caldera. The active crater at Kawah Ijen has an equivalent radius of 361 meters, a surface of 41 × 106 square meters. It is 200 meters deep and has a volume of 36 × 106 cubic meters. An active vent at the edge of the lake is a source of elemental sulfur, and supports a mining operation. Escaping volcanic gasses are channeled through a network of ceramic pipes, resulting in condensation of molten sulfur. The sulfur, which is deep red in color when molten, pours slowly from the ends of these pipes and pools on the ground, turning bright yellow as it cools. The cooled ...

This eruption left a large caldera. In modern times the volcano has had numerous small eruptions (over ten of them since 1930); these are located at a cinder cone in the middle of the caldera. Veniaminof has one of the highest elevations of Alaskan volcanoes. Partly for this reason, it is covered by a glacier that fills most of the caldera. Because of the glacier and the caldera walls, there is the possibility for a major flood from a glacier run at some point in the future.

  • Chiodos - Thermavolcano Mouth (Thermacare + Stratovolcano Mouth) Since they are the same music , I decided to combine them :D Well here it is! ==Lyrics== We all know, we all know by now, that you're the only thing you talk about. Let it all out Let, let it all out Let, let it all out Let, let it go Let it all out Let, let it all out Let it all out EXPLODE! (YOU WHORE!) So forgive me for bragging out loud. I tried to reason with myself. Tell me what could I have done? Maybe I should have asked you to stay like I was gone, then just get up and hand it away. Well babe, like they say about some things, well I guess something never changed For so long you've held it in Everyday you're getting closer Explode into the air Explode into the air Are you alive? Are you livid? Yes are you afraid, Are you afraid of what you hold inside? In a single second are a thousand thoughts, But only one of them makes sense to you We all know, we all know by now, that you're the only thing you talk about. We all know, we all know by now, that that things won't work out No! You've got nothing to say. You're breathing heavy You close your eyes Your hands are shaking, but you hold it in You try to stay calm, you try to hold it back But you can't seem to rest Yeah, your heart is breaking right out of your chest (Explode! ) And this is what it feels like to be a volcano Will it tear you up inside? Let it all out, Let, let it all out Let it all out Just let it go Let it all out Let, let it all out Let it all out I knew as soon as I'd left, that you'd go and *** ...

  • Investigating the Three Kinds of Volcanoes We made a Shield Volcano, a Cinder Cone Volcano and a Stratovolcano (Composite Volcano). We used baking soda and vinegar in the shield volcano, ammonium nitrate and zinc dust in the cinder cone volcano and ammonium dichromate in the stratovolcano. The eruptions were great!
  • Bachman-Turner Overdrive ~ You ain't seen nothing yet You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by BTO!! 1974 # 1 hit single on the billboard top 100. • Gunung Batur Volcano, Bali, Indonesia Mount Batur (Gunung Batur) is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung, Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake. The inner 7.5-kilometer-wide caldera, which was formed during emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, has been dated at about 23670 and 28500 years ago. The SE wall of the inner caldera lies beneath Lake Batur; Batur cone has been constructed within the inner caldera to a height above the outer caldera rim. The Batur stratovolcano has produced vents over much of the inner caldera, but a NE-SW fissure system has localized the Batur I, II, and III craters along the summit ridge. Historical eruptions have been characterized by mild-to-moderate explosive activity sometimes accompanied by lava emission. Basaltic lava flows from both summit and flank vents have reached the caldera floor and the shores of Lake Batur in historical time. The caldera contains an active, 700-metre-tall stratovolcano rising above the surface of Lake Batur. The first historically documented eruption of Batur was in 1804, and it has been frequently active since then. The caldera is populated and includes the two main villages of Kedisan and Toya Bungkah. The locals largely rely on agriculture for income but tourism has become increasingly popular due to the relatively straightforward trek to the summit of the central crater. The lake, Danau Batur, is the largest crater lake on the ...
  • Mount Teide, Pico del Teide, Tenerife, Spain, October 2009 HD Location: Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain Prominence: 3718 m (12198 ft) Type: Stratovolcano atop basal shield volcano Last eruption: 1909 Rides to the summit in cable car from the La Rambleta cable car station start at 9 am and finish at 4 pm, unless weather conditions or high winds make it impossible. Restrictive measures have now been taken, to PREVENT access to the very summit of the cone without a special permit, although you can go up to the La Fortaleza and Pico Viejo look outs. In order to go up to Pico del Teide, along the "Telesforo Bravo" trail from La Rambleta or Cable Car station (3550 m) you first need written permission from the National Park Office. More info here:

  • Ijen Volcano / Indonesia, East Java The Ijen volcano complex is a group of stratovolcanoes inside a larger caldera Ijen, which is about 20 kilometers wide. The Gunung Merapi stratovolcano is the highest point of that complex. West of Gunung Merapi is the Ijen volcano, which has a one-kilometer-wide turquoise-colored acid crater lake. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried by hand from the crater floor (
