For his part, at six in the morning, Mr Ribbentrop, foreign minister, reveals to German and the international press the note from the government of the Reich to the Soviet government. From the glacial Arctic ocean to the Black Sea, that is to say a front of 3000 kilometres, German forces have taken position. Finnish and Rumanian divisions march on the side of the Reich. - Norway and Third World Immigration First published on BNP Website: -- All 21 reported cases of rape with aggravated assault — the highest number since records were started — in the Norwegian capital of Oslo last year were committed by non-Western immigrants and 90 percent of all rape victims were Norwegian women, police have announced. Oslo police spokesman Hanne Kristine Rohde defied the strictures of political correctness to release the figures in an interview on the national Norwegian broadcaster, NRK. She said she was aware that the statistics are controversial. When she was asked by NRK if the police were not stigmatising an entire community by releasing the statistics, Ms Rohde said she wants to contribute to a better and safe world. Thats why the truth needs to be told. I hope the debate will focus on that, she told NRK. According to the police figures, the number of rapes with violent assault committed in Oslo also doubled compared to 2008. According to the police statement, in each and every case, not only in 2008 and 2009 but also in 2007, the offender was a non-Western immigrant. At the same time, in 9 out of 10 cases, the victim was Norwegian, not just by nationality, but also by ethnicity. The NRK report concluded that not a single one of the offenders had a Western background. Four people have been arrested. In all other cases, the victims reported that the offenders either looked like non-Western immigrants, or they spoke a non-Western language. Not a single case has been ...

- French interior minister uses crime stats to justify Roma deportation - F24 0830 www.france24.com Latest update: 30/08/2010 - France - Roma people Govt minister uses crime stats to justify Roma deportation In response to the growing storm of condemnation over the deportation of Roma from France, interior minister Brice Hortefeux stated on Wednesday that crime perpetrated by Roma has skyrocketed over the past year. France's interior minister Brice Hortefeux said Wednesday that over the past 18 months crime committed by Roma people has increased by 259 percent in Paris alone. The minister's statement came after a flood of criticism and mounting party division over President Nicolas Sarkozy's summer campaign to dismantle illegal gypsy camps and to deport Roma on a large scale to Eastern Europe. The controversy has been fuelled by declarations by the president that link Roma, Gypsies and travelling people to crime. "Today, in Paris, the reality is that almost one in five perpetrators of a theft is a Romanian," Hortefeux said on Wednesday at the joint press conference with immigration minister Eric Besson. "This is not about stigmatising this or that population, but we cannot close our eyes to reality." Besson went on to say, "We must broaden the possibilities for issuing deportation orders (for people who pose) a threat to public order by repeated acts of theft or aggressive begging." Besson told reporters he planned to add two amendments to this end to an immigration bill that will be presented to parliament late next month. More than 100 Gypsy camps ...

- Doting Dads Speakers: Richard Collier; Dr Ellie Lee; Rob Williams; David Yelland Chair: Jane Sandeman The Green Paper on Families and Relationships published in early 2010 called for fathers to get more involved in raising their children. The new government supports flexible working arrangements and sharing of maternity leave in order to equalise the role of mothers and fathers. Parenting groups like the Fatherhood Institute stress the importance of close father-child relationships in terms of positive outcomes mooted to range from preventing ***age drug and alcohol abuse to avoiding educational failure or gang membership. In wider society, the role of parents, and fathers in particular, seems to have shifted away from more traditional, gender-based, conceptions of the family unit in which the man was the breadwinner and the mother the stay-at-home carer. Both parents now aspire to an equal share in responsibility, but the realities of work and even nature are seen by some as preventing fathers from really playing a full role. Men may well be granted formal responsibility by the law, but how does that play out against their inability to breast-feed, or what some see as the necessarily closer bond between mothers and babies? Some argue that involving the father in antenatal care can actually undermine a woman's right to take personal responsibility for her own body. At the same time, there is a danger of stigmatising as heartless dinosaurs those men who may not feel comfortable with ...
- Global Treaty Bans Cluster Bombs A global treaty banning cluster munitions has entered into force. Cluster bombs, which are dropped from airplanes or fired by mortars, open in mid-air and disperse smaller bomblets over a wide area. Many bomblets fail to detonate on impact, however, leaving broad swathes of hazardous land. The treaty requires all signatories to destroy stockpiled munitions within eight years, clear contaminated areas within ten years, and help affected communities and survivors. Thomas Nash of the Cluster Munition Coalition lauded the ban: [Thomas Nash, Cluster Munition Coalition Co-ordinator]: "This is the most significant piece of international humanitarian law to enter into force since the land mine ban ten years ago. From this moment on, countries have a legal obligation to assist the victims." While many countries immediately embraced the treaty, there remain countries unwilling to sign. Signatories include Britain, France, Germany, and Japan, while China, Israel, Russia, and the United States have shunned the treaty. Steve Goose of Human Rights Watch thinks that support for the treaty will help to universally stigmatise the use of cluster munitions: [Steve Goose, Arms Division Director, Human Rights Watch]: "We're convinced that this convention will have a big impact, even on those states that have not yet joined. There are some big powers out there who've not yet joined up to the convention - the US, Russian, and Israel - states that have used the weapon extensively in the past. We ...
