  • Betty's Super Spinach Feta Quiche In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a Super Spinach Feta Quiche. This quiche uses a premade pie crust for simplicity, and it is filled with a great mixture of eggs, milk, butter, spinach and feta cheese. It bakes in the oven for a short time, making a quick and dramatic treat. Ingredients: 1 unbaked standard pie crust, rolled into a circle (I used a premade refrigerated pie crust, but you will find recipes for pie crusts in bettyskitchen, such as Plain Pie Crust.) 3 eggs, well-beaten 1 cup milk ¼ cup butter, melted 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper 9-oz. package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained. (I used a paper towel to squeeze the spinach dry after draining.) 4-oz. crumbled feta cheese Place the unbaked pie crust in a quiche dish or a 9-inch pie plate, pressing until the edges of the pie crust come up the sides to the top. Flute the top edge, if desired. With a fork, prick bottom and sides of pie crust. Place the pie crust in a 400 degree (F) oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, until golden. Remove from oven and set aside. Reduce oven heat to 375 degrees (F). In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 well-beaten eggs, 1 cup milk, ¼ cup melted butter, 2 tablespoons flour, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon white pepper. Whisk or stir with a large spoon, until mixture is combined. Stir in a 9-oz. package of frozen chopped spinach (thawed and drained) and 4-oz. crumbled feta cheese. • Ultimate spinach-mind flowers made with some artpics of my own!!!hope youll like it! Ultimate Spinach is an obscure 60s Psychedelic/Hard Rock/Blues group from Boston, Massachusetts, similar to the likes of The Lost, Front Page Review, Country Joe & the Fish, Orpheus, Mandrake Memorial, Earth Opera, Boston Tea Party, The Beacon Street Union, and Jefferson Airplane. Ultimate Spinach was formed in 1967 and comprised keyboardist/guitarist Ian Bruce-Douglas and singer Barbara Hudson. The music is undeservedly forgotten. Despite suffering claims of dishonesty, they published technically sophisticated but also musically fascinating albums. On Ultimate Spinach (MGM, 1968) the standout cuts are Ballad Of The Hip Death Goddess, with an instrumental interval for theremin (an early electronic instrument), feedback and reverberation, the psycho***ytic folk-blues PlayEgo Trip, the 4-part suite PlaySacrifice of the Moon, as well as PlayYour Head Is Reeling and the Frank Zappa-esque — but less nasty than he typically was — Plastic Raincoats. While there was a rumor that Bruce-Douglas had been taken to court by Country Joe McDonald for having copied The Masked Marauder in his PlayBaroque #1, this was pure fantasy. More complex compositions such as the suite in four movements Genesis of Beauty and PlayFragmentary March of Green, two pieces soaked in mysticism, enliven the second album Behold & See (MGM, 1968). The tracks Jazz Thing and Mind Flowers experimented with unusual tempos and atmosphere, while the graceful ...

  • Greek Cooking: Spanakopita (spinach and feta cheese pie) Probably the best spanakopita video out there. I've been making spanakopita for years. I finally decided to make a video tutorial on it. This is the only way my kids will eat spinach. They love it! I know that you're suppose to roll your own phyllo but I simply don't have that much time. The whole thing took about an hour to make and about 40 minutes in the oven. 2.5 lbs spinach, 5 green onions, 11oz feta cheese, 2 eggs, 2tbsp fresh parsley, 1 tbsp fresh dill, about 10 phyllo pastry sheets, half cup olive oil. You can add a little salt if you want, but it's not required. Note: You don't really need to add eggs if you don't want to. It will still turn out just fine.

  • Spinach Rag - Nobuo Uematsu - 植松伸夫- sight-read by Tom Brier By popular demand, here's Tom Brier sight-reading Spinach Rag. He has read through this once before, about six years ago, so technically this is his second and third time playing it. Some fun ensues as a customer at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium, where this was recorded, talks to Tom in awe of how he can do the long left-hand jumps without looking at his hands. That this tune is in sharps instead of flats makes it a bit more difficult to read, since very few rags are in sharp keys. I've been meaning to make a new score of this but have not gotten around to it, so what Tom is reading is this more primitive score that I made in Encore about 10 years ago after receiving an email with MIDI file attached from someone in Japan saying, "My friend makes music for video games. He wrote this rag." That original, primitive score I made, which Tom is reading, is here: www.keeper1 It wasn't until recently that I learned what game this was from (Final Fantasy VI). This was the first piece of ragtime from a video game that I had ever come across. After this recording, Tom said that he had forgotten what a good rag it was, and that he should dig out the copy I gave him so many years ago and really learn to play it. So maybe there's an actual performance of this to come in the future... This was recorded at the July meeting of the Mother Lode Ragtime Society, which meets in every odd-numbered month (except November) on the evening of the second Saturday at the Sutter Creek Ice ...

  • Popeye the Sailor - Let's Stalk Spinach (1951) Famous Studios Popeye the Sailor cartoon. This is one of those cartoons where you can tell that the animators had fun with the plot. This is another one of those where Popeye tells his nephews a story to teach them the importance of spinach. For the second time, Popeye tells his nephews the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk" (the first was in 1943's "Ration fer the Duration"), but this time Popeye puts himself in the story in place of Jack. Notice how Popeye's appearance in the story is that of his adult self wearing boys' clothing. On almost all other occasions where Popeye would tell a story about his childhood, he would appear in the story looking like a child. Aside from the hilarious sight to see an adult version of Popeye in boys' clothing, it gives the impression that Popeye's story is pure nonsense. However, the surprise ending reveals that for once, Popeye actually told a true story.
  • Popeye the Sailor: Greek Mirthology (1954) Popeye is trying to get his nephews to eat their spinach, so he tells them about how Hercules (Popeye) defeated a bully (Bluto). Hercules gets his strength by sniffing garlic; he wins numerous tests of strength against the bully until the bully spots him sniffing garlic. The bully pulls out a handy bottle of chlorophyll and douses the garlic, disabling Hercules. He then knocks him into a field of spinach where Hercules discovers a new and better source of strength. Public Domain.
  • Popeye the Sailor - Spinach vs. Hamburgers (1948) - UNEDITED Famous Studios Popeye the Sailor cartoon. This is one of many cheater films in the Popeye series, and the first to reuse footage from Famous Studios Popeye shorts. In this one, Olive wants to take Popeye's nephews to lunch at Popeye's Spinach Heaven, but the boys would rather eat at Wimpy's Hamburger Haven. In order to convince the boys that Spinach is better than hamburgers, Popeye tells his nephews about the times that Spinach had helped him in his previous motion pictures, and so, we are treated to flashbacks from "The Anvil Chorus Girl", "Pop-Pie a La Mode" and "She-Sick Sailors". Modern TV airings in the USA edit out the footage from "Pop-Pie a La Mode" and the new animation before and after it in order to hide the edit as this footage is now deemed racist.
