  • Speleology in Sighistel Valleey, Cave (Pestera) Pisolca, Bihor, Romania The Pisolca Cave is situated at the right wall of Sighiştel valley, right where nature tends to be more wild. The length of the cave is 74m, but it is passable only in dry weather. The main channel is crossed after 20m, here we start walking on the left side and get to a lake. At law water level, we can walk around the lake at the right side on a rock. Going farther we will find a nicely ornamented channel at the left side. The rest of the cave is visible only for professionals.

The length of the stalactite cave is 1500m, a true huge nicely ornamented labyrinth. Its measures are amazing. Its most famous creature is the palm-tree, at the west part of the cave, a huge pillar with a baldachin umbrella at the top. In the west part of it we can find a wet part. In case of rainy weather humidity increases and the limestones are flooded. From the Bears` passage we can get to the Scăldătoarea Urşilor through a small and rising channel. There is a lake in the small hall, on the walls we can still see the marks of claw of the bear that lived here.

  • Speleology in Sighistel Valley, Cave (Pestera) Dracoaia, Bihor, Romania The Dragon Hall or Drăcoaia Cave is situated in the right part of Sighiştel, 30 m above the water. To get to the big entrance (12x13) we shall climb on small stones coming from the cave. We get into a large hall, where we go among huge cliffs. After 100m, the hall turns into a channel and turns right. We shall keep an eye on the way while being amazed by the forms, as it is full of trap-like limestone parts. The channel takes us higher and higher into a stalagmite area.

Exploration will continue in the course of 2010. A fif***-member team from Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and Croatia set up a base camp, lowered several hundreds kilograms of equipment to the depth of -1980 m and continued with enlarging the mentioned passage. A summer expedition had already worked for 8 days to widen the passage while work at this expedition lasted for 6 days. There are still 2 to 3 days of work left before the whole passage is widened and uninterrupted transport of equipment is made possible. Work is planned to continue at the end of January or August 2010, which depends on weather conditions and financial means. During the expedition Robert Erhardt and Darko Bakšić made a lot of photographic and film material, passed the 2000 m mark and descended into the Game Over chamber, situated at -2080 m.   • Speleology in Sighistel Valley, Cave (Pestera) Corbasca, Bihor, Romania Corbasca Cave can be found in the left side of Sighiştel valley, circa 2km from Sighiştel. In spite of the fact that it has no river, it has a lake. The length of the cave is 240m, it is nicely ornamented. The channel after the entrance takes us to a hall, from where two other channels start. The right one is a channel, whereas chosing the left one we get to the Crystal lake after 30m. This eastern part of the cave is very nicely ornamented. There are two other lakes in the cave, but with small water. That part is also finely ornamented which comes after the big lake.
