All music and lyrics copyright 2009 by Mark Rosengarten. All rights reserved. Lyrics: A salt dissolved in water in a beaker today The ions broke apart in the usual way The molecules of water kept the ions apart A salt solution formed, but thats only the start! Homogenous! The same throughout! Homogenous! The same throughout! Solvents that are polar can dissolve solutes That are polar or ionic, that is really cute Water and nonpolar solutes just wont mix But a nonpolar solvent like benzene can fix! Like dissolves like! Polar and polar! Like dissolves like! Nonpolar and nonpolar! When all the solvent molecules used up And are stuck to the solute ions in your cup Solutions saturated, it is full for sure Solubilitys been reached for that temperature Saturation! On the line! Saturation! On the line! If theres still some water molecules unstuck Then more solute can dissolve, HEY! Youre in luck! Solution is unsaturated, cant you see You havent yet reached the solubility Unsaturated! Put more in! Unsaturated! Put more in! If you put more solute in than can be dissolved Then a supersaturation situations evolved! The excess falls out as a precipitate Or the solute is unstable, sodium acetate! Supersaturation! Precipitate! Supersaturation! Precipitate! A salt ...
  • The Solubility Rap will chem 1 please stand up i repeat: will chem 1 please stand up We're gonna have a problem here it comes to atoms like dissolves like polar with polar, non polar takes a hike But two polar liquids don't always dissolve they sometimes need disturbance like heat, stirring, or lolz If its immiscible its invincible Can't mix together, it ain't permissible If its miscible its a matter of principle Those liquids are completely soluble If you want to get some vitmain C you should eat some brocolli its OH groups make hydrogen bonds so its soluble in water on in ponds Vitamin A has long hydrocarbon chains its soluble it fats, its good for your brain it doesnt dissolve in water unfortunately, so if you take to much, you might become sickly If its immiscible its invincible Can't mix together, it ain't permissable If its misible its a matter of principle Those liquids are completely soluble Greater surface area makes dissolving solids fast They all touch the solvent, makes all that solid past So sugar cubes dissolve slower than plain, So instead of waiting for sugar cubes, let use sugar cane And when you decide to Turn up the heat Youll find it quickly Makes that solid deplete Because Solvent molecules with kinetic energy dissolve the solute more quickly If its immiscible its invincible Can't mix together, it ain't permissable If its misible its a matter of principle Those liquids are completely soluble When you dissolve an ionic compound, The ions in the lattice start to move ...

EDIT: I made this video YEARS ago and had since forgotten I even had a youtube channel under this name. To everyone asking for the lyrics over a year ago, I AM SO SO SORRY!!! I didn't get any emails about it, and I never once checked back to see if there were comments!!! Lyrics: Sodium, Potassium, Ammonium are soluble Acetate and Nitrate and Perchlorate are all solu-able SILVER, LEAD II, Mercury I insoluble! CHLORIDE, BROMIDE, iodide are soluble! Carbonate, oxide, oxalate, chromate and
  • Solubility Rules Song -- Best Version Simply the best version of the chemistry solubility rules song. SOLUBILITY SONG LYRICS Group 1 and ammonium salts, Wherever they may be Can always be depended on for solubility. Acetates and nitrates? The answer's always clear, They each and all are soluble, Is all we want to hear. Chlorides bromides iodides Are soluble weve read, Save silver, mercurous mercury, And (slightly) those with lead. Every single sulfate, Is soluble, 'tis said, 'Cept barium, silver, calcium Mercury, strontium, lead. Carbonates are insoluble, Usually that is so, Or else our marble buildings Would melt away like snow. Phosphates or sulfides will not mix With water it is true But if combined with Group 1 Or ammonium they do. Hydroxides plus metals won't dissolve, All but these you see. With Group 1 or ammonium They dissolve quite readily. When added to hydroxides You must not forget: Calcium, barium strontium Make them dissolve a bit. The strong electrolytes I sang Are soluble you see, Add strong acids and bases To this category. Weak electrolytes do not dissolve as we have seen, Covalents and weak acids, this is what I mean. Gases will never dissolve As you well may NO, These include HCN H2S, CO.

  • Factors Affecting Solubility Check us out at FACTORS AFFECTING SOLUBILITY There are three main factors that control solubility of a solute. (1) Temperature (2) Nature of solute or solvent (3) Pressure EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE Generally in many cases solubility increases with the rise in temperature and decreases with the fall of temperature but it is not necessary in all cases. However we must follow two behaviors: In endothermic process solubility increases with the increase in temperature and vice versa. For example: solubility of potassium nitrate increases with the increase in . temperature. In exothermic process solubility decrease with the increase in temperature. For example:solubility of calcium oxide decreases with the increase in temperature. Gases are more soluble in cold solvent than in hot solvent. NATURE OF SOLUTE AND SOLVENT Solubility of a solute in a solvent purely depends on the nature of both solute and solvent. A polar solute dissolved in polar solvent. Solubility of a non-polar solute in a solvent is large. A polar solute has low solubility or insoluble in a non-polar solvent. EFFECT OF PRESSURE The effect of pressure is observed only in the case of gases. An increase in pressure increases of solubility of a gas in a liquid. For example carbon di oxide is filled in cold drink bottles (such as coca cola, Pepsi 7up etc.)under pressure.
  • Solubility Rules (to the tune of 99 Bottles) Ugh!! It took us forever to finally get this down. We spent like 3 days on the whole video, but this was all that survived through the smoke and the wreckage. got the lyrics faster than i thought got the lyrics faster than i thought Solubility Song: Rules for Solubility (To the Tune of 99 Bottles of Beer) Potassium, sodium and ammonium salts, Whatever they may be Can always be depended on For solubility. When asked about the nitrates, The answer's always clear, They each and all are soluble, Is all we want to hear. Most every chloride's soluble, At least we've always read, Save silver, mercurous mercury, And (slightly) chloride of lead. Every single sulfate, Is soluble, 'tis said, 'Cept barium and calcium And strontium and lead. Hydroxide of metal's won't dissolve, That is, all but three. Potassium, sodium and ammonium Dissolve quit readily. And then you must remember That you must not forgit: Calcium and barium Dissolve a little bit. Metallic sulfide will not mix With water it is true But if you read the two above You'll found out which ones do. The carbonates, insoluble, It's lucky that it's so, Or else our marble buildings Would melt away like snow.
