  • LILLIE - Oscillate Wildly / The Smiths scenes from "Lillie" (1978) Francesca Annis as Lillie Langtry Peter Egan as Oscar Wilde THE NEW HELEN by Oscar Wilde Where hast thou been since round the walls of Troy The sons of God fought in that great emprise? Why dost thou walk our common earth again? Hast thou forgotten that impassioned boy, His purple galley and his Tyrian men And treacherous Aphrodite's mocking eyes? For surely it was thou, who, like a star Hung in the silver silence of the night, Didst lure the Old World's chivalry and might Into the clamorous crimson waves of war! Or didst thou rule the fire-laden moon? In amorous Sidon was thy temple built Over the light and laughter of the sea Where, behind lattice scarlet-wrought and gilt, Some brown-limbed girl did weave thee tapestry, All through the waste and wearied hours of noon; Till her wan cheek with flame of passion burned, And she rose up the sea-washed lips to kiss Of some glad Cyprian sailor, safe returned From Calpe and the cliffs of Herakles! No! thou art Helen, and none other one! It was for thee that young Sar***n died, And Memnon's manhood was untimely spent; It was for thee gold-crested Hector tried With Thetis' child that evil race to run, In the last year of thy beleaguerment; Ay! even now the glory of thy fame Burns in those fields of trampled asphodel, Where the high lords whom Ilion knew so well Clash ghostly shields, and call upon thy name. Where hast thou been? in that enchanted land Whose slumbering vales forlorn Calypso knew, Where ...

  • Ode on Sleep and Dreams- Steven Parris Ward Ode on Sleep and Dreams The sun hath set, Day's raging rout takes flight, Amidst the clasp of Winter's steely cold, Sweet silence, the oasis of the Night, Now stills the restless wanderings of the soul; Thence slumberous veils upon the mind alight, As Morpheus' blackening wings soft downed enfold, Whilst in their glad attendance and delight, Fair hypnogogic fantasies evolve. Whence by swift Hypnos' winged chariot borne, Thou must be led to Lethe's darkening streams, Sup long a draught from waves oblivious, Which steal the full remembrance of rich dreams, Fret not upon the loss, thou cannot know, Full fleeting fragments strewn delirious, Which on forgotten strands lost time disowns, Yet glint like pearls in shells mysterious. Awake to dreams, divine, those treasures hold Far more the truth of what thoust claims to be, Which as the grains of sand slip through the mould, Reveal sleep's thoughts as wish filled fantasies. Pearlescent flowing waves, compressing time, Desirous force of life's experience, Which on the placid mind shall crystallise, Collect and thence project imperious. How strange this Sleep, Sleep and her sister Death, Both lie beneath the fields of reverie, Both bear a shadowed train of dark repose, Which cloaks the glittering spark of memory. In submerged caverns deep within, consigned, Below the strata far from wakefulness, They lull the active soul at their behest, Be still, by their command, to take its rest. • Let's Play Scratches (BLiND), Part 1: Autumn Song Chant d'automne I soon shall we plunge 'neath winter's icy pall; farewell, bright fires of too-brief July! even now I hear the knell funereal of falling fire-logs in the court close by. once more on me shall winter all unroll: wrath, hatred, shivering dread, Toil's cursèd vise, and like the sun in his far hell, the pole, my heart shall be a block of crimson ice. I wait aghast each loud impending log; thus, criminals 'neath rising gibbets cower. o dreadful battering-ram! my soul, agog, quivers and totters like a crumbling tower, till to my dream the cradling echoes drum like hammers madly finishing a bier. — for whom? — June yesterday; now fall is come! mysterious dirge, who has departed here? II I love your long green eyes of slumberous fire, my sweet, but now all things are gall to me, and naught, your room, your hearth nor your desire is worth the sunlight shimmering on the sea. yet love me, tender heart! a mother be even to an ingrate, or a wicked one; mistress or sister, be as sweet to me as some brief autumn or a setting sun. 'twill not be long! the hungering tomb awaits! ah! let me — brow at peace upon your knees — savour, regretful of June's parching heats, this balmy soft October, ere it flees! — Lewis Piaget Shanks, Flowers of Evil (New York: Ives Washburn, 1931)

I call you up but I get no reply. I call you again and I feel, I still feel like Dont like being kicked around. Im being kicked around, dont like being kicked around. Border Walls Now, again in the silent night, sequestrant walls, border walls like plants entwine, so they may be the guardians of my love. Now, again the town's evil murmurs, like agitated schools of fish, flee the darkness of my extremities. Now, again windows rediscover themselves in the pleasure of contact with scattered perfumes, and trees, in slumberous orchards, shed their bark, and soil, with its thousand inlets inhales the dizzy particles of the moon. *** Now come closer and listen to the anguished beats of my love, that spread like the tom-tom of African drums along the tribe of my limbs. I, feel. I know which moment is the moment of prayer. Now stars are lovers. In night's refuge, from innermost breezes, I waft. In night's refuge, I tumble madly forth with my ample tresses, in your palms, and I offer you the equatorial flowers of this young tropic. Come with me, come to that star with me that is centuries away from earth's concretion and futile scales, and no one there is afraid of light. (+)-------------- On islands adrift upon the waters, I breathe. I am in search of a share in the expansive sky, void of the swell of vile thoughts. • Dhikr Accompanied With Al-Burda - Shaykh Muhammad Al-Ya'qoubi Shaykh Muhammad Al-Ya'qoubi blesses us with his voice as he sings some lines from The Burda of Al-Busiri (The Poem of the Cloak). Translation of the lines sung: Muhammad, lord of both worlds, lord of both species, Lord of both assemblages - Arabs and all others. Our Prophet, commander of right, forbidder of wrong- No soul kept his word more justly, whether "Yes" or "No." He is the beloved whose intercession is hoped for As arms against a host of relentless calamities. He called on God. Whoever clings to him Clings to a rope that will never unravel nor break. His form and character surpassed even the previous prophets, And none have approached him in knowledge or nobility. They all seek from the Messenger of God Cupfuls from his ocean or sips from his unceasing rain. They all stand before him according to their limits, As if dots on his knowledge or diacritical marks on his wisdom. He is the one whose meaning and form were perfected, And then the Originator of souls chose him as the beloved. Incomparable, his beauty has no peer- The essence of beauty itself is in his nature. Leave aside what the Christians have claimed for their Prophet- Then praise him as you like, but do so wisely. Ascribe to his essence what you wish of honor, Attribute to his exalted status what you will of his greatness! Truly, the Messenger of God's bounty Cannot be overstated by two lips and a tongue. If a miracle could equal his stature in magnitude, The mere mention of his name would revive ...

Thy face illumes the six-directioned world; Turk, Tajik, Arab all thy servants are. Whatever things have being, find in thee True exaltation, and thy poverty Is their abundant riches. In this world Thou litst the lamp of life, as thou didst teach Gods servitors a godly mastery. Without thee, whatsoever form indwelt This habitat of water and of clay Was put to shame in utter bankruptcy; Till, when thy breath drew fire from the cold dust And Adam made of earths dead particles, Each atom caught the skirts of sun and moon, Suddenly conscious of its inward strength. Entry: "Hujambo Kenya! Chapter 12 The Dark Knight! December 23, 2008. Day 3. Masai Mara There was just no question of encouraging 'yawns' after a 'full-filling' lunch! Peter wanted to take us to some points which were quite far away from the Keekorok and so we had scheduled a 3:00 pm start to our evening game drive (instead of the standard 4:00 pm) with plans of returning only after sundown. We wanted to witness our last sunset in Masai Mara from within the midst of Mara itself. There was a certain twinge of sadness as we set off. It would be our last 'full' game drive in Masai Mara -- next day morning we would only be able to have a curtailed one, on our way to Lake Nakuru via a Masaai village. The sun came blazing down through an electric blue sky challenging our broad-brimmed safari hats to prove their worth. Small patches of cotton candy clouds of virgin white were few and far between. The ocean-like vastness of the lazy gold-green grassland, stretching right up to the horizon, was broken only by isolated acacias dozing in the African afternoon. To our left, a long distance away, three blue-green hillocks rolled from one to the other, seemingly holding on to each other like lost souls in an alien land. Mara was ...
  • Galactic Federation Of Light Saul July 27 2011 The continuing progress that humanity is making as it moves towards awakening is truly excellent. If you understood and recognized what you are achieving you would be absolutely amazed, but in your present state of limited consciousness that is just not possible. Rest assured that you are doing great work as the moment for you to awaken from your deep slumber approaches. Truly it is quite stunning what you are managing to achieve while you remain in this slumberous state of amnesia. We, your spiritual sisters and brothers, angels and guides, take great pleasure in the magnificence and success of your sterling efforts to awaken humanity. You are definitely on the path to a fantastic event that will, when it occurs, "blow your socks off!" A successful awakening is guaranteed, and your strenuous efforts are bringing that moment ever closer. You all know that it is essential for you to open your hearts in loving kindness, generosity, and compassion to all -- without distinction -- and ever-increasing numbers of you are doing this. Evidence for this flowering of your loving intent is appearing everywhere. Do not be disconcerted by the painful events bringing suffering to many and on which your mainstream media remains inordinately focused. If they were to focus a similar amount of attention on the good that is occurring planet-wide there would be practically no space or time left for their present subjects of reportage.
