His style consisted of a wall of disco-fied sound to create energy and excitement. "Panic" is one of the similar sounds of "Love and Desire" by Arpeggio weaving syndrums and strings together with his vocal trademark. This was his own Motown sound, but in a disco genre. I have taken the elements of "Panic" and created a new mix and arrangement. Thanks to Mario for requesting this winner!

  • REISSUE: "Love Your Body" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Amanda Lear Amanda Lear was one of discos earlier acts who created quite a stir. Following her big underground hit, "Follow Me" she was taken by German producer, Peter Ludemann for "Love Your Body". This single was released in 1983 and signified a trend of energized synthesizers to outline high energy disco music. It was a time where music above 130 bpms were scarce - at least great ones. Along with Amanda's sensual vocal delivery and the songs hooks, this geared towards the new aerobicise market. Although it seemed a bit ridiculous, it's presence gave new dance music an opportunity to survive the anti-disco backlash of the late 70's. Brian from Philly requested this electric force of disco perfection!
  • REISSUE: "Cocomotion" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - El Coco At the age of 16 and hearing this song for the first time in a discotheque I believed I was listening to one of the most incredible songs ever! The breaks keyboards I always believed were being blended in the disc jockey and they were from a "Close Encounters" soundtrack! That bass - all I could say is that I was lucky that it was being hear at a club called Lombard's here is San Diego - the sound system was fierce! W. Michael Lewis and his production partner Laurin Rinder were the writers and musicians on most of their great early disco music. It was the way it was suppose to sound - raw and ready. Untouched by the big record labels - like a live jam sessions directly to the dance floor. Even after this many years is "Cocomotion" still thumping under it's own unique sound.

Even today his music continues to inspire many with it's innovative edge and futuristic feel. The package he leaves behind is a period of disco/dance music which emulates a robotic world using dance rhythms. "Goin' Home" is the final cut from the album which Patrick gave much of his final talents and emotions during his finale days in 1982. The song borrows a few lines from his earlier track "I Wanna Take You Home" with a fantasy-like escape from problems and stress of life. This ReStructure Mix is intended to pour a new meaning to its message and display Patrick's keyboards and synthesizer genius.
  • REISSUE: "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Thelma Houston Thelma Houston's "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" is a big part of disco music's history. It was originally released in 1978 on her "Ready To Roll" LP and then again with a remix by Larry Rossiello on her "Ride To The Rainbow" LP. The track is a fabulous outline of disco nightlife and the morning after. It is also one of Thelma's most memorable vocal performances. More of a early evening or after hours track this was is always pleasing. I have ReStructured the song only to bring it back again and add a few new surprises with already evident keyboard riffs and bongo tracks.

We were lucky to find the champions of disco music, such as Giorgio Moroder holding steady within the industry and giving us projects with a new style and flavor. Although Moroder may have phased a bit from the futuristic feel of disco music he used the pop dance medium as his influence. From this style he created great tunes like the theme from the early computer fantasy film, "Electric Dreams" -- the genius was complete in using Human League vocalist, Phillip Oakley. Together they created dreams that lasted on the dance floor. My ReStructure of this 80's dance hall premium is dedicated to disco fans everywhere, appropriately.

"Can You Handle It" is the first single that rings "louder than words"! It is one of disco's sassiest and ***iest singles along with Sharon - that was an easy achievement. I have taken the full-length LP version and chopped and re-arranged it to create this ReStructure Mix - and keep Ms. Redd and her fabulous aura alive. It is truly one of my favorites and now works out another moment in time for those hips to move again!

  • Funkin' For Jamaica - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tom Browne Tom Browne (Thomas Fredrick Browne) released his second jazz album in 1980 titled "Love Approach" - a big surprise was the funk/jazz track "Funkin' For Jamaica" which became a *** track on dance floors that went lower BPM and experimental for some good. The song is now considered an old-school classic. I have taken the LP version and ReStructured the funky grooves, as well as Tom's kick-ass trumpet to create a dub-like groove version to pull the rap and jazzy arrangement into a new piece.

Her first single "Give Me A Break" was a huge disco hit internationally and in the states. It was the resurgence of uplifting and "feel-good" disco music and began a whole new period of disco music which would soon become high energy. I have taken the 12" version of this monster club hot and ReStructured it to pieces and glued it back in a re-edit that is sure to give a new feel for your ears, but maintain the power of the original.   • Magic Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix Colleen Heather Colleen Heather is a vocalist from Bob Motta's New York City's Rubber Band from 1977 ("Put Your Love In My Hands") and in 1979 released her solo LP "Heartbreaker". It was one of the projects on West End Records that expressed the sound of disco music which released the inner soul of a disco femme in a traditional state. "Magic" is a single from the project which received some club play and also displayed the full arena of disco production. Motta's arrangement gives the song a nice build and a love-anthem climatic ending. I have taken the track since it stayed on my mind when hearing it in a club and watching a dance floor move to it's lovely feel and moved it into a whole new feel with this ReStructure Mix - adding a new intro with some new beats and effects.   • Don't Stop - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Motion Motion is a Canadian production from Gino D' Orazio and Tony Bentivegna - a production team who also brought to dance floors, Blue Lazer, Ladies Choice and Nightlife Unlimited. The changing sound of disco music in the early 80s became electronic and infused with the keyboards which introduced a new technology of sound for the period. "Don't Stop" is from Motion's first LP and was one of their most memorable tracks - it has a rolling bass sequencer that is the main formula for most of the projects of the time but work best with the infectious chorus and simple yet effective vocal. This ReStructure Mix breaks the song into many spots and adds a longer break arrangement. My attachment to this song came during a time when disco and high energy were being reintroduced to a whole new dance crowd.

Sylvester created a starting line for dancers to move all night long with this cut. The synthesizers zip along like a rabbit on steroids - thanks to wonderful and late, Patrick Cowley for his innovative and true disco synthesizers - without him we would still be waiting! Martha Wash and the late Izora Rhodes are gripping as the upfront chorus of this track - it is no wonder how they both brought a true gospel elegance to disco music from hereon. Sylvester will always live in disco music - he is closest to the "Godfather of Disco" than most artists for being so innovative and unaffected by the industry. It was the refined disco formula that had been in the works during the late 70s. I have ReStructured "Don't Stop Dancing" and edited the original album version to give the song a whole new arrangement and feel. It was a pleasure to hear the horns, strings, percussion and sound of this great period in disco history. The album was produced by Tony Green and arranged by Denis LePage
  • "Dance And Shake Your Tambourine" - ReStructure Mix by Glenn Rivera - Salsa '78 Orchestra "Dance and Shake Your Tambourine" is a track originally recorded by Universal Robot Band in 1976 produced by Greg Carmichael and Patrick Adams. The band included members from the band Kleeer ("Keeep Your Body Workin'") - Woody Cunningham, Richard Lee and Paul Crutchfield. I have used a cover version recorded in 1977 by Salsa '78 Orchestra on an independent label, Springboard International. The type of record you would find at a five-and-dime store. I just though the cover was done well by the band - so it was used for this ReStructure Mix.
