- Should drugs, prostitution, homo***uality be LEGAL? (W/ Christian Commentary) Ron Paul talks about liberty, and governments role in these issues. Q:Don't only drug abusers want drugs legalized? A: Some drugs like tobacco and alcohol are already legal. Other drugs are not. People don't have to use drugs to believe everyone has the right to do what they want in their personal lives. Ron Paul (and freedom lovers everywhere) think individual states should decide what is legal on a local level. He has never used drugs. Q: Why do we need to bother legalizing drugs? A: One, we've spent $500000000000.00 of your tax dollars on the "War on Drugs" Two, our prisons are full of people who's only crime was possession (small amounts). Why should people get to carry some drugs -tobacco cigarettes, alcohol, prescription- and not others like marijuana cigarettes. Three, billions of dollars in drug sales would become legal, taxable, and regulated. Q:Wouldn't legalizing drugs result in an epidemic? A: No more than the country already has with tobacco and alcohol. Besides, any state could still make drugs illegal or regulated..and NOBODY wants to make any drugs legal for minors. Q: Prostitution is immoral, how can we legalize it? A: Prostitution happens in all 50 states and is legal in most of Nevada. It has always existed and will always exist in this world. The one exception is in Nevada, where it is legal, it is regulated and there are no pregnancies, STD,s or abuses/murders of prostitutes. It is also then taxable income. Yes, no prostitution is the most moral, but ...

- The Alex Jones Show-6/11/08:"DEATH OF THE INTERNET" pt1 ISP's have resolved to restrict the Internet to a TV-like subscription model where users will be forced to pay to visit selected corporate websites by 2012, while others will be blocked, according to a leaked report. Despite some people dismissing the story as a hoax, the wider plan to kill the traditional Internet and replace it with a regulated and controlled Internet 2 is manifestly provable. "Bell Canada and TELUS (formerly owned by Verizon) employees officially confirm that by 2012 ISP's all over the globe will reduce Internet access to a TV-like subscription model, only offering access to a small standard amount of commercial sites and require extra fees for every other site you visit. These 'other' sites would then lose all their exposure and eventually shut down, resulting in what could be seen as the end of the Internet," warns a report that has spread like wildfire across the web over the last few days. The article, which is accompanied by a You Tube clip, states that Time Magazine writer "Dylan Pattyn" has confirmed the information and is about to release a story - and that the move to effectively shut down the web could come as soon as 2010.

- Timothy P. Carney on "Obamanomics": Crony Capitalism as Progressive Reform In his new book Obamanomics: How Barack Obama is Bankrupting You and Enriching His Wall Street Friends, Corporate Lobbyists, and Union Bosses, Timothy P. Carney explains that Barack Obama's "progressive" rhetoric masks good old-fashioned crony capitalism, in which the favored few and politcally well-connected get all sorts of benefits paid for with public dollars. Whether the area is Wall Street, health care reform, union organizing, or K Street lobbying, the same pattern is everywhere: using the government's power to distribute goodies and rig markets. A columnist at the Washington Examiner and a non-partisan reporter, Carney also lays into the Republican Party for its massive contribution to the problem when it wielded power. Carney provides a game plan to take the country back and restore truly free markets that will benefit everyone. Reason.tv's Nick Gillespie interviewed Carney in December 2009. Shot by Dan Hayes and Meredith Bragg; edited by Bragg. Go to reason.tv for downloadable versions. Approximately 9 minutes.

- Glycolysis II This course is part of a series taught by Kevin Ahern at Oregon State University on General Biochemistry. For more information about online courses go to ecampus.oregonstate.edu 1. Regulation of glycolysis occurs through 3 enzymes - hexokinase, PFK, and pyruvate kinase. Hexokinase is regulated by substrate-level regulation. PFK is regulated allosterically by ATP (turns off), AMP (turns on), citrate (turns off), and F2,6BP (strongly turns on). Note that ATP and citrate will be present when cells have a lot of energy, so it is logical that they turn off the enzyme. By contrast, AMP is present when cells have little energy and it is logical that it turn on the enzyme under these conditions. F2,6BP can counteract the negative effects of ATP on the enzyme to some extent. 2. Note also that PFK is very unusual in being negatively regulated by a molecule (ATP) that is also a substrate. This is possible because the enzyme has an allosteric binding site for ATP in addition to the substrate binding site and the Km for the allosteric site is higher than the substrate binding site. 3. Pyruvate kinase is regulated both allosterically andby covalent modification (phosphorylation/dephosphorylation). Phosphorylation of the enzyme by a protein kinase turns the enzyme activity down, whereas F1,6BP acts as an allosteric activator. This activation is known as feedforward activation. 4. Feed forward activation is rare in metabolism. It is a term used to describe a metabolic product (such as F1 ...

Dr. Milton Friedman discusses so-called "equal pay for equal work" and explains how capitalism makes people pay for their prejudices. There Is No Male-Female Wage Gap: "A study of single, childless urban workers between the ages of 22 and 30 found that women earned 8% more than men." Equal Occupational Fatality Day Labor Market Gender Arbitrage: Multinational Corporations Profiting From ***ism By Hiring Female Talent in S. Korea From Armen A. Alchian's entry in THE CONCISE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ECONOMICS: "In a paper coauthored with Reuben Kessel, Alchian, who was himself subject to discrimination as an Armenian, and Kessel pointed out that discrimination was more pervasive in private firms whose profits were regulated by the government, and then explained that this is what the ***ysis of property rights would predict. Discrimination is costly—not just to those discriminated against, but also to those who discriminate. The discriminators give up the chance to deal with someone with whom they could engage in mutually beneficial exchange. Therefore, argued Alchian and Kessel, discrimination would be more prevalent in situations where those who discriminate do not bear much of the cost from doing so. A for-profit company whose profits are not regulated would see the cost of discrimination in its bottom line in the form of lower profits. A company whose profits are limited and that is ...

- Supreme Court and American gun ownership The Supreme Court, or at least 5 of the 9 justices, upheld the second amendment to the USA Constitution, which reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Those who want to restrict American access to hand guns read the above amendment as stating guns are only necessary for a "well regulated Militia." Meaning for a state's National Guard unit. Since weapons are provided by the Guard, there is no reason for the populace to own a hand gun. The advocates for gun ownership read that amendment as indicting it is the right of all Americans to own a gun, "a well regulated Militia," not withstanding. So goes the debate, which the Supreme Court seems to have settled in its recent decision. The best way to settle this debate is to look to the very men who wrote the 2nd Amendment to the United States of America Constitution. Now understand most of the 55 delegates to the United States Constitution Convention, went on to serve in government in various positions from town councils, mayors, state assemblies, governors, congress, senate, and the office of president. The question to ask is, once the Constitution was ratified and these men ascended to various public offices, why did they not confiscate all the pistols in these here United States? If the 2nd amendment was for only a "well regulated Militia," then after ratification of the constitution, the people who wrote it ...

- Lindy Hop and Charleston Routine about phosducin for "Dance Your PhD 2009" "Dance your PhD 2009" contest entry Rachelle Gaudet Michael Richters (aka transducin beta-gamma) and I (aka phosducin) use Lindy Hop and Charleston to illustrate my PhD thesis: Structural ***ysis of phosducin and its phosphorylation-regulated interaction with transducin beta-gamma. These proteins function in our eyes, as part of the retinal proteins that transmit visual signals to the brain. In a bright environment, phosducin binds to transducin beta-gamma and the two are found in the cytoplasm. Upon dark-adaptation, phosducin becomes phosphorylated, while transducin beta-gamma returns to the cellular membranes to increase the responses to small amounts of light. During my PhD, I determined the crystal structure of the complex of phosducin and transducin beta-gamma. In this complex, phosducin's N-terminal half interacts extensively with beta-gamma, illustrated in our Lindy Hop dance, a partner dance which relies on intricate lead-follow technique. We dance the Lindy Hop under bright lights in the back of the room, because the complex phosducin/transducin beta-gamma forms when our eyes are adapted to bright light. When eyes adapt to the dark (illustrated by our transition to the darkened front of the room), phosducin is released from beta-gamma and becomes phosphorylated (represented by the hat). In the second half of my thesis project, I went on to show that phosphorylated phosducin has a particularly flexible or mobile N-terminal half. This is illustrated by the solo ...

- IBM and the Holocaust Produced by gnn.tv Get more great videos Become a Myspace friend: It has been over 50 years since Adolf Hitler took his life in a small underground bunker near Berlin. And while, for many, the Holocaust that he planned and executed against the Jewish population of Europe is a thing of the past -- a dark chapter of our history that serves a reminder of man's inhuman potential -- for others, it is a subject of unrelinquished sorrow and tireless investigation. It is in the latter camp that we find Edwin Black, author of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated international bestseller IBM and the Holocaust. The book, which documents IBM's direct links to Hilter and his so-called 'Final Solution' by providing the Third Reich with census machines and punch card technology, caused IBM to issue a formal statement claiming that the ***s controlled the operations of IBM Germany during the war. But Edwin's research shows that Thomas J. Watson, founder and president of IBM during the company's financial relationship with the ***s, exercised more hands-on control of the operation than they care to admit. In his Guerrilla News directorial debut, Paul Shore interviews the author and deploys GNN's trademark design aesthetic in what is sure to be one of the most controversial documentaries about US corporate complicity with the *** regime.
