  • Macbeth "A harrowing and disturbingly funny parable for the dawn of the 21st century." - New York Times The Royal Shakespeare Company's Macbeth has been lauded as the finest production of Shakespeare's Scottish play for over a quarter of a century. In 2000, it played to packed houses in Stratford, London, and theatres abroad. All twenty actors from the original production, including Antony Sher and Harriet Walter, star in this compelling screen version of Gregory Doran's original stage production. Cleverly reconceived for the camera, and brilliantly shot at London's Roundhouse, Macbeth was filmed in a gritty style using the edgy techniques of fly-on-the wall documentaries. Doran says, "Macbeth is, in many ways, the most filmic of Shakespeare's plays with its short, quick-fire scenes and its hurtling, dynamic momentum. In the film I tried to capture its raw energy and dangerous intimacy." The DVD version includes exclusive interviews about the play, the production and their performances with Antony Sher, Harriet Walter and Gregory Doran.

  • DbAoTi the Poet I wrote this poem after listening to Speechless by Alicia Keys. Its about what makes me speechless. Its a little muffled so here are the words When I wake up in the morning..... I can't believe my eyes I see you laying there with that precious look on your face A look so calm and serine What's got you speechless? Im sure it's me you're experiencing in that dream There is no wonder why I love you Waking moments, awkward pauses They're conceived and exist because our feeling that cause them What's got you speechless? It's the way we are The fact that we're as similar as Mercury and Pluto But created a bond steady as the burning sun I feel it...you feel it What's got you speechless? When I know that you are or have been around Its been said before but I enter Paradise when your scent stains my bed sheets Blind fold me and hug me. The smell of love eludes from your creamy build and fills my nostrils with the charismatic scent of you Whats got you speechless? Soft and tender lips Meeting them and all at once experiencing the feeling of love, comfort, lust and desire combined My fingers reintroducing themselves to every part of you from the top of your head to the soles of your feet Each touch ignites that mental spark to go on Whats got you speechless? Shh...listen...better yet...watch Watch how the sound of your voice sends me on a journey others can only dream to travel Each and every voyage is like the maiden and can never be duplicated Whats got you speechless? • Behind Resonance // Shen Wei Dance Arts Choreography SHEN WEI Music DAVID LANG Lighting DAVID FERRI Sets And Costumes SHEN WEI running time 18 minutes Behind Resonance was first created for the Purchase Dance Corps and commissioned through a Harkness-Choreographer- in-Residence Grant at the Conservatory of Dance, Purchase College, New York in 2001. The work was reconceived in 2003 and premiered at the American Dance Festival. A landscape of gleaming white rectangles form the scenic background and pathways for this work. The dancers, clothed in velvet grey sheaths, create images that change and coalesce to the multi-textured waves of David Lang's score. In measured time, the dancers enter individually, then join in pairs and trios, then come together in groups of cumulative power and grace. Like an afterimage or a memory of a place or emotion, Behind Resonance strikingly captures and extends metaphors of movement. "Behind Resonance originally referenced a specific place and time: the sea, the past. But in its revised form it is a work of greater immediacy. Its placement is here in this theater space and what is behind resonance takes place now, among these dancers."

The JFC PMO will lead a unified Department-wide effort to develop and implement survey tools to ensure state, local and tribal customers are provided the opportunity to define and identify the types of homeland security-related information they need, and the format in which they need it. The JFC PMO will also develop mechanisms, in coordination with federal, state, local, tribal and territorial authorities, to improve the capability of state and major urban area fusion centers to gather, assess, ***yze and share locally generated and national information and intelligence, in order to provide complete pictures of regional and national threats and trends. • A. DE CABEZON Diferencias sobre la Gallarda Milanesa - Simone Stella Simone Stella plays Diferencias sobre la Gallarda Milanesa by Antonio De Cabezon (1510 - 1566) Spanish composer and organist, blind from infancy, he was taught music first by local organists, then by the cathedral organist in Valencia. In 1526 he was appointed organist to Queen Isabella. After her death in 1539 he worked for her children, especially Prince Philip, who later became King Philip II and was from 1548 Cabezón's sole employer. He traveled widely in Europe (including England) with the king in the years 1548-56 but settled in Madrid when it became the home of the Spanish royal court, remaining there until his death. His numerous compositions for organ and stringed keyboard instruments include glosas (intabulations of polyphonic works by other composers, usually not Spanish, reconceived as keyboard pieces), diferencias (variation sets, in which he was a pioneer, most based on melodies from Spanish cancioneros and on dances), entirely original tientos, and various liturgical pieces such as hymns. Some works were included in Luis Venegas de Henestrosa's Libro de cifira nueva (1557); most were first printed by his son Hernando de Cabezón in Obras de nuisicapara tecla, arpa y vihuela de Antonio de Cabezón (1578). The latter book also includes a general presentation of the composer's teachings on keyboard playing; the discussion of fingering is particularly notable for the progressiveness of the ideas set forth. Only one vocal work, a piece for five voices, is known.

The outcome will therefore not be democratic but merely a reflection of degrees of access to technology by different groups of supporters. It would,if the fiasco continues, merely be a measure of technological capability and NOT of environmental sustainability(The less 'green' you are the more votes you could make!) Woven like a thread of hope amid images of torture and hate crimes victims, are digitally re-conceived reels of whirling dervishes and buddhist monks. • E=mc2 Time and Relativity special theory of relativity 2 Einstein showed, mathematically, that space and time are related and perceived differently by different observers. One consequence of special relativity is time dilation, which means that time in a moving reference frame passes more slowly than time in a stationary reference frame. In other words, a clock that is moving with respect to a stationary observer is perceived by the observer to run more slowly than a stationary clock. Another consequence is length contraction—the observed decrease in length of objects traveling relative to an observer. As part of the special theory of relativity, Einstein also reconceived our understanding of momentum and energy. As the speed of an object approaches the speed of light, its inertia, or resistance to acceleration, also increases. In other words, its mass increases. Additionally, the theory yielded the famous equation E=mc2, which expresses the relationship between energy and mass.
  • BAO & Helen Sjöholm Sommaren Du Fick ( Story Of A Heart ) 2009 BAO & Helen Sjöholm " Sommaren Du Fick ( Story Of A Heart ) ( 2009 ) " Story Of A Heart " Released on June 26th, 2009 ( Sweden ) Released on July 6th, 2009 ( UK ) The first international album of Benny Andersson Band (in Sweden known as Benny Anderssons Orkester (BAO) was released in Sweden on 26 June 2009 and in the UK and Europe at the beginning of July. The Swedish version of the album contains the Swedish language version of "Story of a Heart" as a bonus track. Marie Helen Sjöholm (born 10 July 1970) is a Swedish singer, actress and musical theatre performer who lives in Gamla Enskede in Stockholm. She grew up in Sundsvall and started to sing in choirs at an early age, working, among others, with Swedish conductor Kjell Lönnå. By the end of the 1980s she toured with the group "Just For Fun". Her big breakthrough occurred in 1995 when she created the title role in Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' Kristina från Duvemåla, which she played on and off for nearly four years (during the musical's entire run). Minneapolis Star and Tribune in its review of the concert version of the musical performed by the original cast in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1996 described her as "extraordinary" (October 14, 1996, page 05B). In 1998, she played Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, taking a break from Kristina. In 2000, she returned to Malmö Music Theatre to portray the role of Fantine in Les Misérables, and in 2002 she created the role of Florence in the reconceived Swedish production of ...
  • Cease-Fire: the Case for Ending War September 23, 2009 Speaker: Gordon Fellman, PhD, Professor of Sociology, Brandeis University Sponsored by: Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Conflict and Dispute Resolution, Louis C. Greenwood Lecture Summary: Professor Fellman will examine the standard justifications for war and show how each is lacking. War is a social invention and can be succeeded by peace, which is another social invention. He will discuss three reasons—two of them structural and one social psychological—that war persists in this era. - One is the gains it means for those sectors of the economy that profit from selling the implements of war, servicing the war machine once it is in place, and reconstructing what has been destroyed in war. - Second is the pervasiveness of normative masculinity (which he calls "traditional masculinity"). He claims that the warrior is the quintessence and culmination of the qualities of normative masculinity and try to show some of the contradictions and hidden problems there. He suggests how normative masculinity can be reconceived and reconstructed to value avoiding war above making war. - The third element of the argument is social psychological. Anger is inadequately studied as a major problem in human affairs. It is likely that all societies redirect anger away from its real sources (in family, relationships, work, government, etc.) to substitute objects. Creating enemies and making war upon them is perhaps the most dramatic of these practices. Prof. Fellman ...

  • WALT CASSIDY AT INVISIBLE-EXPORTS BY APRIL PALASTHY FOR STYLE CURATOR NATALIE KATES INVISIBLE-EXPORTS present The Protective Motif, the first solo exhibition of artist Walt Cassidy. Walt Cassidy's works are a personal alphabet—each piece charting a private topography of history, experience, emotion, and thought. The Protective Motif is a survey of that inner landscape, rendered in a visual language both intimate and arcane. Ranging from ink drawings and wall sculptures to photographs, the work testifies, with remarkable emotive force, that the most demanding affective experience is often the private one, and that our most urgent expressive imperative is to render it sensibly—to make outer order from inner chaos. The works in The Protective Motif compose a meta-narrative across medium and are rooted in childhood exercises, learned from his father, an industrial psychologist. These physical meditations were used to ground the neurological electricity of the brain, by doing such things as burying ones hands in soil (modeled on the ***eptic structure of the lightning rod). The pieces gathered here act as maps that trace the contours of private experience, constructed on the basis of a therapeutic autobiographical agenda through the transformative ritual of re-experience. Cassidy places his faith in these constructions, which invoke again and again the varied symbolism of the protective motifs—repeated ideas, patterns, images and themes, which serve as the physical bedrock upon which he extricates himself from his personal experience. In the introductory ...

The former of these, representation, has been more dominant throughout cinema's history. With the arrival of computing and it's now widespread use within cinema we see the latter begin to take dominance. It's method of production can be improved, changed or even reconceived allowing it's authors to work as never before. • Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity E=mc2 speed of light The steps Einstein took to develop his special theory of relativity are as follows: First, Einstein tried to understand what must be implied by the fact that light travels at a speed independent of its source. From this, he realized that time and space are not simply two unrelated concepts; rather, they must be linked in a space-time system whose properties appear most dramatically when objects move very fast and are observed by two different observers moving with respect to one another. His final and greatest step led him to discover and clarify mathematically many new things about the world that are important in each and every frame of reference. In each and every frame of reference, there are relationships that hold because of the nature of space and time. If space and time were to be reconceived in a new interactive way, then other things, like momentum and energy, had to be reconceived, too. In fact, momentum and energy are linked like space and time.

  • My Summer Vacation Promo Idea: a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action. Ideas are powerful. They're conceived in the mind, yet they are capable of shaping the future of a person's life. They're capable of shaping the culture of entire nations. As a result, we must be careful of which ideas we choose to reject and which ideas we choose to embrace. With one idea, you can crush the hope of a single person. And with one idea, you have the power to change the world. Redstone Church is located in Birmingham, AL and is a strategic partner of North Point Community Church. • Mary Carlson Flag at Long Island University RC From the press release: "During the winter of 2002, Carlson noticed that many of the flags on display after 9-11 had started to fade...Looking to the faded flags of 9-11 she dyed fabric to match these faded colors. She then made the flag using a combination of hand and machine sewing." Since Jasper Johns reconceived this icon of America, there have been endless revisions of the flag. Mary Carlson's "Flag" however achieves a pathetic and fragile quality implying an obligation to continuity despite world weariness.
