  • Seminar on Self-Organzation in a culture dish / By Professor Carlos E. Semino Animal tissues undergoing regeneration exhibit properties such as cellular dedifferentiation and self-organization processes that ends in rebuilding tissue complexity and function. We speculate that the recreation in vitro of the biological, biophysical and biomechanical conditions similar to those of regenerative milieu could elicit the intrinsic capacity of differentiated cells to proceed to the development of regenerative structure. In this presentation I will show that when MEFs (Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts) are cultured in a soft nanofiber scaffold they establish a cellular network that causes an organized cell contraction, proliferation and migration that ends in the formation of a tissue-structure that recapitulates certain aspects of early development, such as temporal control of early embryonic genes followed by tissue determination. Since cellular self-organization is an intrinsic property of tissues undergoing development this new experimental paradigm could bring new ways to obtain functional tissues in culture.

  • The Matrix Debunking Evolution 2/8 An old evolution myth still hanging around is the notion that things that look like gill-slits, tails, etc. in developing human embryos show the embryo repeating all the stages of evolution. In 1866, Ernst Haeckel proposed his "biogenitic law" (not to be confused with the law of biogenesis that says life only comes from life). His idea was that growing vertebrate embryos went through all the forms of their supposed evolutionary ancestors ("ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny"). He published drawings comparing growing embryos of a number of animals such as the pig, cat, salamander, etc. to growing human embryos. The similarities that he said he found helped persuade people to believe the theory of evolution. Scientists eventually discovered enough about embryology to quietly discard the "biogenetic law", but it was not until a careful photographic study of growing vertebrate embryos was conducted in 1997 that Haeckel's deceit was fully revealed. They found that his drawings were so far from reality that they could not have been done from the actual embryos.11 He must have faked them. The theory of Evolution violates two laws of science. The Second Law of Thermodynamics (law of increasing entropy) says that things which start out concentrated together spread out over time. If you heat one room in a house, then open the door to that room, eventually the temperature in the whole house evens out (reaches equilibrium). Knowing how far this evening-out has progressed at any point ...

  • Women Hold Up Half the Sky (2007) by Scott Snibbe Women Hold Up Half the Sky is a permanent installation in the lobby of a the Mills College Life Sciences Building in Oakland, California. This video artwork celebrates the contributions of women in science from ancient to modern times. On two large projections, animations retell the history of women in science, commencing with Hypatia, the Egyptian mathematician, astronomer, and physicist born in the fourth century. The installation shows stylized views of the women at work in their laboratories, and montages of the womens discoveries. A new scientist appears each month, moving through the Middle Ages to the contemporary era over the course of the school year, and featuring prominent scientists such as Marie Curie and Barbara McClintock. In this way, the work recapitulates the history of women in science as the year advances. The young women of Mills College see their course content reflected in the walls of their school, and find role models for the careers they will soon begin. In addition to highlighting some of the most well known women of science, Snibbes piece offers a glimpse into the professional lives of some of the schools own pioneers through ground level monitors that show Mills alumnae who currently work as scientists, providing concrete inspiration to faculty, staff, and visitors.

  • Antonio Bibalo Symphony No 2: 4th Movement Energico Video of a midifile-recording from the second symphony of the italian-norwegian composer Antonio Bibalo (1922-2008), sequenced by senimanmunich ############### The final movement Energico is the resume of the whole work. From the formal aspect, this movement can be associated with the traditional sonata-form (Exposition Development Recapitulation Coda). However, instead of distinct themes, like in the classical model, Bibalo uses formal sections that differ in style, expression, tempo, texture and instrumentation. So the formal section at the begin is affected by an energetic rhythm in the full orchestra. The following section is much slower in tempo and calm and tender in expression. The orchestration is sparingly and alternates between strings and woodwind. Before the recapitulation of the movement Bibalo inserts an intermezzo intermediario-fugato that recapitulates the main-theme of the symphony, like it is introduced at begin of the first movement in a metamorphose from fugue, waltz to full orchestra. The furious coda refers to the tarantella of the second movement and ends after a strong Ritardando in a pure D Major accord.

  • Evolution Genetics Embryo's and our Common Ancestor's Even before Darwin, biologists recognized that species that looked quite different as adults often had close similarities as developing embryos. Many four -- legged animals go through embryonic stages that have similar features -- gill arches, a notochord, segmentation, and paddle-like limb buds -- as they develop into different adults. To Darwin, the embryonic resemblances were strong support for the theory of evolution. One of Darwin's contemporaries, German biologist Ernst Haeckel, summed up the argument in a famous, pithy statement: "Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny." That is to say, in the process of development, an individual passes through the adult forms of all its ancestors. So, Haeckel proposed, by examining the development of an embryo you could read its entire evolutionary history in the transition from one stage to another. In fact, this isn't strictly true, and the drawings Haeckel made exaggerated the embryonic similarities between species.

  • Sword Swallower Recapitulates Gorilla Sword swallower Dan Meyer, co-winner of the 2007 Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine (for the BMJ study Sword Swallowing and Its Side Effects) accidentally replicated the findings of an earlier Ig Nobel Prize-winning study that involved a gorilla. This video shows it happening. The video was filmed during the 2010 Ig Nobel Tour of the UK for the UK's National Science & Engineering Week. The action happens in Liverpool, in front of the renowned Cavern Club, where The Beatles rose to fame. Dan and other tour lecturers made a pilgrimage to the historic Cavern Club, where Dan swallowed a sword in front of the club. While he was doing so, tourists who were so intent on paying tribute to the Cavern Club did not even notice that — right in front of them — a man was performing the rare and dangerous act of swallowing a sword. Two of those tourists are visible at the end of the video. This curious aspect of human psychology was the focus of a project that earned the 2004 Ig Nobel Prize in Psychology. Daniel Simons and Christopher Chabris were honored for demonstrating that when people pay close attention to something, its all too easy to overlook anything else — even a man in a gorilla suit. Details of that experiment are in their study Gorillas in Our Midst, vol. 28, Perception, 1999, pages 1059-74. More info: http http
  • String Quartet in Memoriam Alban Berg III movement The String Quartet in Five Movements In Memoriam Alban Berg is one of my first strictly dodecaphonic works. It was written in Redlands, California in 1957 and premiered in Washington, DC in 1958, during the First Inter-American Music Festival, by the Claremont Quartet. This ensemble subsequently played the work the world over in the ensuing years. My admiration for Alban Berg, which started fif*** years before, during my formative period, takes musical shape in the Quartet, translated into gestures derived from Bergs music. The first movement of the work presents all the thematic material of the three inner movements. In these—an Adagio, a Scherzo and a Rondo—the themes are extensively developed. The fifth movement, entitled Finale, recapitulates, juxtaposes and compresses all the thematic ideas. This highly virtuosic work ends with an ostinato figure using the first six notes of the dodecaphonic row, on top of which the main rhythmic gesture of the opening movement encompasses the remaining six pitches, propelling the piece to a vigorous and fiery conclusion. The work abounds in intense varied counterpoints, canons, augmentation and diminution devices, imitations and use of the 48 forms of the row. The Quartet in Five Movements In Memoriam Alban Berg has received innumerable performances throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

  • Canticle of Zechariah "Benedictus - Hymn of Praise" (a Morning Prayer) The Benedictus of Zechariah, Luke 1: 68-79, the Canticle of Zechariah is popularly called the Benedictus because of the opening words in the Latin translation: "Benedictus Deus Israhel"—"Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel." ... The Benedictus is a hymn of praise which celebrates the redemption of God through Jesus, the Davidic Messiah. It celebrates the primary virtues of God as a covenant partner: his mercy-kindness in choosing his partners (Abraham, David, the people of Israel) and his fidelity to the covenant. It recapitulates the saving interventions of God in the past. ... It is also a prophecy, as it points to the role of the prophet-precursor: the child John. But like anything else in the Gospel, the real point is Christological: it focuses on the "daybreak from on high" in whom God has visited his people and shown his mercy, namely, Jesus Christ, whose ways John will prepare.

  • Prophet Darwins Satanic Embryo Doctrine Made this clip about the Atheists most Holy Prophet named Darwin. He can be seen as the the son of Satan, just like Jesus Christ can be seen as the son of God. Prophet Darwin believed that evolutionary changes tend to occur in the later stages of development and are gradually pushed back into embryogenesis, with the result that embryonic development bears the imprint of past evolution (in Ernst Haeckels words, ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny). Wich turned to be a lie. I'm planning to make more clips about Prophet Darwin who has been considered as the most holy prophet in the Atheist/satanic religion. • Kunstformer der Nature (Ernst Haeckel) Ernst Heinrich Phillipp August Haeckel (February 16,1834 - August 9,1919),also written von Haeckel, was an eminent German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor and artist who discovered, described and named thousands of new species, mapped a genealogical tree relating life forms, and coined many terms in biology, including anthropogeny, ecology, phylum, phylogeny and the kingdom Protista.Haeckel promoted and popularized Charles Darwin's work in Germany and developed the controversial recapitulation theory ("ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny") claiming that an individual organism biological developement,or ontogeny parallels and summarizes its species' entire evolutionary developement,or phylogeny. The published artwork of Haeckel includes over 100 detailed,multi-colour illustrations of animals and sea creatures. Musica Fripp & Eno,Wind on wind
  • How hitler lost the war Part 6 Using rarely seen film footage, this documentary shows that Hitler's defeat in World War II was due less to Allied supremacy than to his own shortcomings as a military strategist. Interviewing German officers, the film shows how the course of history could have been changed with a few key decisions. Among them, Hitler's initial reluctance to bomb Britain; his refusal to proceed with the building of the Messerschmidt 262; his harsh treatment of the Ukrainians, who had welcomed Hitler as a savior from communism; and his biggest blunder, fighting a two-front campaign. This intriguing documentary recapitulates the major military events of the European theater of war.
  • String Quartet in Memoriam Alban Berg I and II movements The String Quartet in Five Movements In Memoriam Alban Berg is one of my first strictly dodecaphonic works.
