  • Happy Rhodes - Rearmament - 01 - "Perfect Irony" (1986) AUDIO ONLY. Happy Rhodes - Rearmament - 01 - "Perfect Irony" (1986) Shown is the cover and spine of the Rearmament cassette, now out-of-print. Those cassettes were hand-made by Happy Rhodes and Kevin Bartlett. Ok, they didn't forge the plastic or make the paper, but when they got an order they would dub each cassette individually, and put together the cassette insert themselves. They did this with each of the first four albums ("1st4") until they were all re-released on CD in 1992. The picture on each cassette is an actual photograph by Happy, cut and pasted onto a cassette insert. Rhodes I, Rhodes II and Ecto all have photographs of monsters painted by Happy. Rearmament has a blurry photograph of Happy's eyes, but again, a copy of the photograph was cut and pasted onto each cassette. The track listing was often hand-typed too. No fan has ever seen the original Rearmament photo. The cover of the CD release (especially Samson Music's re-release) came out muddy and you can barely tell they're eyes. Scroll down for CD release liner notes. Lyrics: The Perfect Irony I thought I wanted to die But I barely had the time And isn't it funny How I didn't even Have the money To say goodbye? • History of Russian Navy / История Российского Флота The Russian Navy or VMF (Russian: Военно-Морской Флот (ВМФ) России- Voyenno-Morskoy Flot Rossii (VMF) or literally Military Maritime Fleet of Russia) is the naval arm of the Russian Armed Forces. The present Russian Navy succeeded the Navy of the Commonwealth of Independent States which succeeded the Soviet Navy after the dissolution of the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War in 1991. The regular Russian Navy was originally established by Peter the Great (Peter I) in October of 1696. Ascribed to Peter I is the oft quoted statement: "A ruler that has but an army has one hand, but he who has a navy has both." The symbols of the Russian Navy, the St. Andrew's flag and ensign (seen to the right), and most of its traditions were established personally by Peter I. The Russian Navy possesses the vast majority of the former Soviet naval forces, and currently comprises the Northern Fleet, the Russian Pacific Fleet, the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Russian Baltic Fleet, the Russian Caspian Flotilla, Naval Aviation, and the Russian Coastal Troops (consisting of the Naval Infantry (Marines) and Coastal Missile and Artillery Troops). Recently approved, a rearmament program until 2015 puts, for the first time in Soviet and Russian history, the development of the navy on an equal footing with strategic nuclear forces. The program covering the period until 2015 is expected to replace 45% of the military inventory in the army and navy. Out of 4.9 trillion rubles ($192.16 billion ...

  • The European Air Arms Race 1935 - 1939 part 1 of 2 This is by no means a complete history but does provide some perspective of the events in European military aviation from 1935 - 1939. When *** Germany openly started re-armament in 1935, few should have been surprised as Hitler had made it very clear both in his speeches and in "Mein Kampf" that he would break the "unjust" terms of the Treaty of Versailles. For two years, the German military expanded in secret. By March 1935, Hitler felt strong enough to go public on *** Germany's military expansion - which broke the terms of the Versailles Treaty. Europe learned that the ***s had 2500 war planes in its Luftwaffe and an army of 300000 men in its Wehrmacht. Hitler felt confident enough to publicly announce that there would be compulsory military conscription in *** Germany and that the army would be increased to 550000 men. How did Europe react to this flagrant violation of Versailles? Essentially, the French and British did nothing. Britain was still recovering from the Depression which had devastated her economy. She could not afford a conflict. The French preferred a defensive policy against a potential German threat and she spent time and money building the vast Maginot Line - a series of vast forts on the French and German border. The most Britain, France and Italy did (at this time, Italy did not view German as a potential ally as the above was pre-Abyssinia) was to form the Stresa Front which issued a protest against Hitler's rearmament policy but did nothing ...

  • Russia to upgrade military to counter the US, NATO expansion Russia to upgrade army in response to NATO expansion 17 March, 2009, 17:37 President Medvedev has announced a programme of rearmament for Russia's military, starting in 2011. He says NATO expansion is one of the reasons which make the step necessary. Speaking at a Defense Ministry meeting on Tuesday, Dmitry Medvedev said, The ***ysis of the current political-military situation in the world shows that there still remain threats coming from local conflicts as well as from international terrorism. Attempts to expand the North Atlantic alliance close to the borders of our country have not been stopped. This is the reason why we should upgrade our military forces and make them more advanced, he said. Read more The President added that despite the current financial problems, we have all the necessary capabilities. The number of military practice manoeuvres carried out each year will also be increased. "Many types of exercises have been held for the first time over a certain long period, or even in the entire history of the Armed Forces," Medvedev said. He added that the number of those exercises is still insufficient. Only exercises similar to real combat operations can enhance the skill and combat readiness of military units. This is something we should never hesitate to spend money on," said the President. A smaller, better armed and more flexible armed force thats what Russia needs to respond to growing threats from outside, according to Medvedev. There ...

  • Drei Travellers - 08/15-***tail Telefunken master 55622-1, rec. Berlin, 1954. Fred Oldörp (vocal, acc.), Eddie Rothe (voc, g), Mischa Andrejew (voc, b). The three young musicians met during a tango recording session of the Radio Berlin dance orchestra in 1946 - Fred Oldörp was the only musician in Berlin after the war able to play the bandoneon! The group's individual sound paired with humour and youthful charm soon gained them a strong following. This selection was recorded at a moment when the rearmament of Germany after World War II was discussed most heatedly. Most politicians were in favour af it, many of the common people were against it - as were the Travellers. They felt that most officers of the new Bundeswehr would have to be members of the old Wehrmacht and in satirical form criticized the general amnesty that was about to take place (President Eisenhower had already given his OK), whereas most of the lower ranks had even trouble finding jobs in the ruined country. Well, we know who was right and who won ... Their record company does not seem to have shared their opinions, as the Telefunken brand is conspicuously absent from the label. The title of this song is derived from the MG 08/15, the machine gun most frequently used by the German Wehrmacht in the two world wars.

Happy Rhodes - Rearmament - 15 - "Be Careful What You Say" (1986) Between Ecto and Warpaint, Happy teamed up with Kevin Bartlett for a duo called Bartlett/Rhodes. They played live and made some demos, but never released anything to the public. There are 5 Bartlett/Rhodes songs on YouTube. This is the only one that ever got a proper release. It was a CD bonus track when Happy re-released the until-then cassette-only Rearmament on CD in 1992. According to the liner notes, Happy did everything on this track, so I'm not sure where Kevin Bartlett fit in, but I was told this was a Bartlett/Rhodes track. Lyrics: Be Careful What You Say Come forth now, speak your mind And believe that what you feel is true Your age cannot reveal all of you Good or bad, tell them all Some may say you cannot hold your tongue You should not pretend to like everyone Be careful what you say, what you do When you show your face You're never right, let it go You're much too young to know And when you feel the need to express All your views on life You're never right, let it go You're much too young to know. If you must, choose your words And have faith that you have done the right thing Your eyes cannot reveal everything Be careful what you say, what you do When you show your face You're never right, let it go You're much too young to know And when you feel the need to express All your views on life You're never right, let it go You're much too young to know Song © 1986 - Happy Rhodes Music ...
  • Jane Burgermeister - will we have war in Europe? Will nationalism, ethnic tension and war return to Europe as just predicted by trends expert Gerald Celente? The deepening economic depression, the rearmament of countries like Greece and the move to abolish conscription and introduce professional armies are helping to create the perfect storm. Conscripts are usually limited by Constitutions to serving on their home territory, but professional soldiers can be sent to any part of the world, allowing the escalation of wars and even another world war three. In spite of the fact that the majority of Europeans and Americans rejected the swine flu vaccine over safety concerns, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and governments seem to be planning to increase use of new flu vaccines and are also warning of yet another "pandemic". An authoritarian government crackdown is hitting the internet first. The internet has helped spread information about the false flag 9/11 operation, the hyped swine flu pandemic, the Gulf "voilcano" as well as the bank-engineered economic collapse and the plans of the Bilderberg "elite" for a world war three. Outfits like Mediapart have played a key role in informing the French about the way L'Oreal heiress Liliane Bettancourt made cash payments to politicians, including President Nicolas Sarkozy. Websites like Infowars have produced powerful documentaries such as "The Obama Deception." The internet is forcing the mainstream media to update its news agenda. For the first time ever, the mainstream ...

  • Russia unveils huge rearmament drive MOSCOW: Russia has unveiled the biggest rearmament program since the fall of the Soviet Union, saying that it intends to buy 600 planes, 100 ships and 1000 helicopters within the next decade. The ambitious overhaul will cost the equivalent of $650 billion. European countries are meanwhile cutting defence spending to try to balance their national budgets. But with oil prices rising, Russia, the world's biggest energy exporter, feels confident it can afford to upgrade its dilapidated Soviet-era military and believes it urgently needs to do so to confirm its self-proclaimed status as a leading world power. Advertisement: Story continues below Vladimir Popovkin, Russia's Deputy Defence Minister, said the rearmament would be sweeping. ''The main task is the modernisation of the armed forces,'' he said. ''Nine*** trillion roubles [$647 billion] will be allocated for this. We are not interested in purchasing any foreign weapons or military equipment.'' Alexei Kudrin, the Finance Minister, has said defence spending will account for 1.5 per cent of gross domestic product, up from 0.5 per cent now. Mr Popovkin said the navy would get 35 new corvettes, 15 frigates and 20 submarines, eight of which would be nuclear-powered and armed. He estimated that the navy, which is badly trailing the US Navy in terms of modern ships, would take delivery of 100 vessels before 2020. Despite his claim that Russia would not need to buy foreign military hardware, two of the vessels will be French ...

On the edge is where we play When we run others delay Oh when we run, others delay For we believe In what we do For we believe In what we do For we believe In what we do For we believe ©1986 by Happy Rhodes, Published by Hovering Slab Music BMI Music, lyrics - Happy Rhodes See credits for additional info * Originally contained on Rearmament (AGCD0011), this song was done in Detroit, live on the air, with Ann Delisi at WDET. • Condoleezza Rice. Our Gaza goals: true calm, prevent rearmament of Hamas Rice for President - Peter Dow's website - scot.tk For Freedom Forums - http Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State addressed the United Nations Security Council on January 6th, 2009 on the situation in Gaza and Israel's military offensive against Hamas rocket attacks. "The United States is of course deeply concerned about the situation in Gaza which is clearly worsening. We have been working around the clock to try and end the violence there. The ongoing attacks against Israel and the decision that Hamas made not to respect the previous period of calm shows us that when this ends there must be new arrangements in place not a return to the status quo ante. It is imperative that any cease fire is durable and sustainable and that it ensures the safety and security of Israelis and Palestinians alike. The situation before the current events in Gaza was clearly not sustainable. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis lived under the daily threat of rocket attack and frankly no country, none of our countries would have been willing to tolerate such a circumstance. Moreover the people of Gaza watched as insecurity and lawlessness increased and as their living conditions grew more dire because of Hamas's actions which began with the illegal coup against the Palestinian authority in Gaza. A cease-fire that returns to those circumstances is unacceptable and it will not last. We need urgently to conclude a cease-fire that can endure and that can bring real security ...

Happy Rhodes - RhodeSongs (1994 compilation) - 11 - "I Have A Heart" Lyrics: I Have A Heart (originally from Rearmament) I have a heart inside, she's begging me for suicide She doesn't want anymore She's lived too many lives before So what do I say to put her at ease? I know she'd leave with the breeze All I can do is beg her to stay Oh she is deceived every day Cheated and lied to in every way Why do you love weak little thing? You never could handle the hurting So what do I say to put her at ease? I know she'd leave with the breeze All I can do is beg her to stay Song © 1986 - Happy Rhodes Music, lyrics, voices, instruments and arrangements - Happy Rhodes See credits for additional info
