  • Reverse psychology at its purest Psicologia inversa en su estado mas puro .Dad pwns son using reverse psychology. Reverse psychology - Kid tricked by his dad It is reverse psychology in its purest - The father tells his son - in Spanish: 'Let's go,' and the son dutifully walks outside towards the car. When the father eventually changes his 'no', answer to 'yes', the boy then answers 'no', oblivious that he has just agreed to walking. The father then says: 'Okay no, let's go', and the boy happily walks away from the car. The reverse psychology method is also used in a popular Looney Tunes cartoon where Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are arguing in front of hunter Elmer Fudd about whether or not it is duck season or rabbit season. Bugs Bunny reverses his answer from proclaiming it is duck season to rabbit season. Daffy then switches and proclaims it is definitely duck season and tells Elmer Fudd to 'fire'.

The brain seems to select the information worth to process, or most relevant, at every instant, in almost every context. This might produce some very specific phenomena such as what psychologists call "Change Blindness". --------------------------- Such kind of experiments try to show the limits of our capacity to encode, retain, and compare visual information from one glance to the next. This suggests, among other issues, that our awareness of our visual surroundings is far more sparse than most people intuitively believe.

  • Psychology vs. Psychiatry Be My Friend - Dr. John Breeding, Ph.D. psychologist discusses the difference between psychiatry and psychology. Psychiatry focuses on medical or physical interventions such as drugs, electroshock therapy, deep brain stimulation by electrode, psychosurgery, etc. This is the model of biological psychiatry. Behavior problems are considered to be actual medical illnesses with physical causes despite the fact that after over 100 years of attempts to identify a physical cause for mental illness, there are still none. Often time people are given antidepressants like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor or Wellbutrin. SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are often promoted as correcting chemical imbalances in the brain but there is no proof that depression or mental illness is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain nor is there any proof that antidepressants correct an imbalance. These medications often time have horrible side effects like agitation and ***ual dysfunction. Psychology by contrast acknowledges the potential of behavior problems being learned responses which can be corrected with therapy and communication, education and understanding. There are no cures in psychiatry. Psychiatric medications only suppress or inhibit symptoms of behavior problems. This creates long term mental health consumers who take expensive drugs but never fully recover from their difficulties. Visit Dr. Breedings website at ...
  • Alex Jones Tv 1/2:Psychology Today Say's"Alex Jones & 9/11 Truthers Suffer from Mental Instability?" PSYCHOLOGY TODAY HIT PIECE LABELS CONSPIRACY THINKING A PSYCHOTIC ILLNESS Paul Joseph Watson In an article entitled Dark Minds: When does incredulity become paranoia, Psychology Today writer John Gartner attempts to make the case that the concerns of conspiracy theorists are not based in reality but are a product of mental instability, while himself fulfilling every criteria for what he claims classifies such people as psychotics ignoring evidence that contradicts his preconceptions while embracing the ludicrous conspiracy theory that powerful men and governments do not conspire to advance their power. Probably somewhat upset about how our coverage of the dangers associated with the swine flu vaccine has contributed to a global revolt against mass vaccination programs being readied, Psychology Todays gravy train of big pharma advertisers will no doubt be pleased to see the publication wastes no time in savagely attacking radio host and film maker Alex Jones, dispensing with any notion of fairness and zealously going after him as early as the second paragraph. The nature of this vicious hit piece ( PDF link) is confirmed when Gartner laments that Jones refused to provide him with phone numbers for friends he grew up with, presumably frustrated that he couldnt dig up some dirt from an old girlfriend to throw into the mix of what is nothing more than a personal attack on Jones character, and a complete departure from any debate about the issues Jones ...

  • Coast To Coast AM - 27.4.2011 - 1/12 - Psychology of High School MP3 www.4 Psychology of High School: On Wednesday's show, investigative journalist Alexandra Robbins talked about the world of high school and how those who thrive in it are not necessarily the ones who end up successful in life. Being an outsider in high school has been viewed negatively especially since the Columbine shootings, but just because students don't conform or aren't popular doesn't make them bad people, she noted. In her new book, The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth, she followed the lives of seven real students whom she broke down into different categories. In the case of the 'Popular Girl,' ironically she was not that well liked. Further, Robbins reported that the "popular" kids tended to be more conformist, did less well in school, and were more likely to be involved in incidents of aggression. Other students she profiled included the 'Weird Girl,' the 'Gamer,' and the 'Nerd.' If schools were to celebrate the sciences the same way they do athletics, a lot more students might go into the sciences, and nerds wouldn't be shunned, Robbins commented. Students are foisted with a lot of labels now like "emo" and "indie" which refer to what you are, rather than the older labels (jock, greaser etc.) that referred to what you do, she observed. Robbins defined what she called Quirk Theory: "Many of the differences that cause a student to be excluded in school are the same qualities or real world skills that others are going to adulthood and ...

  • 7. Behavioral Finance: The Role of Psychology Financial Markets (ECON 252) Behavioral Finance is a relatively recent revolution in finance that applies insights from all of the social sciences to finance. New decision-making models incorporate psychology and sociology, among other disciplines, to explain economic and financial phenomenon, such as erratic stock price variations. Psychological patterns such as overconfidence and perceived kinks in the value function seem to impact financial decision-making, but are not included in classical theories such as the Expected Utility Theory. Kahneman and Tversky's Prospect Theory addresses such issues and sheds light on irrational deviations from traditional decision-making models. Complete course materials are available at the Open Yale Courses website: This course was recorded in Spring 2008.
