Germany probes 'Russian poisoning' A German law enforcement agency specialising in politically-motivated crimes has opened an investigation into the suspected poisoning of a former KGB intelligence agent and his historian wife who emigrated to Berlin earlier this year. Marina and Viktor Kalashnikova have become the latest in a series of Russian dissidents to claim that they were poisoned by their former government after tests showed both had more than 50 micrograms of mercury per litre in their blood, far higher than the normal level of three micrograms. The Kalashnikovas arrived in the German capital in September, having previously stayed in Ukraine, Poland and Estonia. The couple allege that their clothing, towels and other possessions were contaminated with mercury by Russian agents during their travels through eastern Europe. Bangladesh probes child marriage - 20 Nov 09 Twenty years ago the United Nations adopted the Convention of the Rights of the Child. The CRC or UNCRC, is an international treaty setting out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of children. Nations that ratify the UNCRC are bound to it by international law. As of December 2008, 193 signatories have ratified it, including every member of the United Nations except the US and Somalia. The UNCRC has been used as a blueprint for child protection legislation around the world The treaty restricts the involvement of children in military conflicts and prohibits the sale of children, child prostitution and child ***ography. Bangladesh is a signatory to the UN pact. However, child marriage remains a widely accepted practice. According to a UN report, 63 per cent of all Bangladeshi girls below the age of 25 are married off before they reach the legal age of 18. Non-governmental organisations in the country are trying implement a clause in the UNCRC to protect underage brides. Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque reports from Dhaka on how the simple birth certificate can help reduce the number of children forced into marriages. China probes dead babies scandal At least 21 dead babies in plastic bags were found dumped in a river in China's eastern Shandong province over the weekend. Two mortuary workers were arrested after investigators discovered they were paid by the families of the deceased babies to dispose of them. NASA - Phoenix Probe Ready for Mars Mission - VOA Story NASA scientists have unveiled details of the space agency's plans to pierce the icy surface of Mars, near its north pole. The mission is designed to find evidence of water or life on the red planet. At a Washington news conference this week NASA scientists discussed the upcoming Phoenix mission to Mars. The probe is scheduled for launch in the predawn hours of August third and will take 10 months to reach its target. Project Manager Barry Goldstein explains what happens next. "On May 25th, 2008 the fun begins. We separate from the crew stage. We're traveling at about 12600 miles an hour. We take up most of that energy with the heat shield, which is at the bottom the entry vehicle. We take up about 94 percent of the energy as we come in. We drop a parachute." Unlike previous Mars probes that bounced to the surface, this one has thrusters that ignite, and cushion the landing. Goldstein further explains, "Basically what we are dealing with is, we're dealing with a system that is coming into the planet at 12600 miles an hour, screaming into the planet and slowing down to basically zero inside seven minutes." Once the dust settles the solar arrays on the Phoenix deploy. The camera springs up into place, followed by instruments used to collect atmospheric data. Philippines probes botched bus raid As flags fly at half mast, officials in the Philippines are trying to find out what went wrong with an attempted rescue operation on a hijacked bus full of tourists. Eight visitors from Hong Kong died after police attempted to storm a bus commandeered by a disgruntled former police commander, who had been fired from the force. A remembrance ceremony was held at the site of the raid, but families of victims are still angry. The government has promised a full investigation into the attack, which is the one recent decision on the matter to win broad approval. Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports from Manila.

Update of setup. HHO Ford Probe 70+ MPG Winter has been brutal on mileage. The best mileage on temps below 40 degrees has been averaging around 50 MPG. My O2 sensor has only reacted when it's cold out - raising the idle up to 2000 rpm's (oposing the 200 rpm's it idles at in warm weather). Now that it's warming up out, I'm expecting better mileage since I've improved my setup. Improvements: I've added three gauges. Ambient engine Temp, Volts, and Amps. I am now able to keep a constant eye on the volts, ensuring that they do not drop below 12 - thus allowing me to control the maximum volume of HHO/min without running down the battery. There is a near exact sync between engine temp and amps in relation to the amount of NaOH I use.
