  • Cruz del condor (Cabanaconde, Peru) Cruz del Condor Condor en vol le matin près de Cabanaconde au Perou à la croix du condor The Andean Condor, Vultur gryphus, is a species of bird in one of the vulture families. It is in many regards the largest flying land bird in the Western Hemisphere and is the heaviest, but not the lengthiest, member of the order Ciconiiformes. This condor inhabits the Andes mountains. Although it is primarily a scavenger, feeding on carrion, this species belongs to the New World vulture family Cathartidae, related to storks and not closely related to Old World vultures, which are in the family Accipitridae along with hawks, eagles and kites. Although about 5 cm shorter (beak to tail) on average than the California Condor, the Andean Condor is undoubtedly larger in wingspan: Ferguson-Lees gives 274--310 cm (108--122 in). It is also heavier: up to 11--15 kg (24--33 lb) for males and 7.5--11 kg (16--24 lb) for females. Measurements are usually taken from specimens reared in captivity. The adult plumage is of a uniform black, with the exception of a frill of white feathers nearly surrounding the base of the neck and, especially in the male, large patches or bands of white on the wings which do not appear until the completion of the first moulting. As an adaptation for hygiene, the head and neck have few feathers, exposing the skin to the sterilizing effects of dehydration and ultraviolet light at high altitudes, and are meticulously kept clean by the bird. The head is much flattened ...

  • Hand And Brain: The Neurophysiology And Psychology Of Hand Movements Hand And Brain: The Neurophysiology And Psychology Of Hand Movements Used for gestures of communication, environmental exploration, and the grasping and manipulating of objects, the hand has a vital role in our lives. The hand's anatomical structure and neural control are among the most complex and detailed of human motor systems. Hand and Brain is a comprehensive overview of the hand's sensorimotor control. It discusses mediating variables in perception and prehension, the coordination of muscles with the central nervous system, the nature of movement control and hand positioning, hand-arm coordination in reaching and grasping, and the sensory function of the hand. In the last decade the rapid growth of neuroscience has been paralleled by a surge of interest in hand function. This reflects the fact that many of the fundamental issues facing neuroscientists today--including the problem of relating physiology to behavior--are central to the study of sensorimotor control of the hand. This book takes a broad interdisciplinary perspective on the control of hand movements that includes neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, psychology and neuropsychology, and biomechanics. The authors, who have all made significant scientific contributions in their own right, have sought to introduce their chosen topics in a manner that the undergraduate reader will be able to follow without sacrificing detailed and up-to-date coverage ofthe major developments.Uses an interdisciplinary ...

  • Graham Harman defines Objects objects enfolding and enfolded within objects links: doctorzamalek2 anthem- www.re- ''The way in which we feel superior to all cosmic entities is simply that they seem like 'characters', whereas what we sense within is primarily our own shapeless, noncommittal, adaptable freedom--which allows us to overlook our most robotic personal traits, though they are prefectly visible to the others who tease us for them behind our backs. The root of all human arrogance is not to be found in wealth, beauty, power, or popularity, but only in the lordly sense of being more 'internally free' than other entities . . .'' • Rocket Arabic Premium The books for this age are especially made to be used by children, to train their rudimental prehension. There is a great advantage involved in taking English lessons online or over the phone, which is that companies offering these services usually cover various native languages. There are many reasons to give a boy a Spanish name. Today, 50% of the world wide IT development is outsourced to India. The reason for this is that they think fresh food has to be delivered with the swiftness of a large organisation that has so many stores that the food is only being couriered from a couple of miles away. Whenever going into an Italian restaurant, practice to order food in their language and never in English. This is the beginning of Chinese learning. Online Italian lessons are just as comprehensive as other courses. For example, they can search using the title of the job (Production Manager or General Manager-Finance etc.), or specific location / working experience - number of years, age group, industry type etc. If you do get a speeding conviction, dont despair just get on the Internet and get as many quotes as you can. You can only manage this if you are producing your own hockey group or if your whole assembly is going to watch a reside hockey match. People are doing so for various reasons - to get a better, higher-paying job, or reach a wider Chinese consumer market or simply because they want a challenge in life - and many of these people have decided ...

  • Re: Eternal consciousness and souls do not exist (unless you make them in your head) First, in a comment to what I said, Morbidatheist said: "Matter is a physical substance I don't see why any intelligent person would deny that." One (primary) logical ramification, then, is that spatial extension is the essential attribute of matter. Another is that quality trumps relationality; ie, primary and secondary qualities, as properties of brute physical substance, trump over the process-relational point of view vis-à-vis relational numbers of protons, neutrons, electrons, etc. Thus you are positing the Scientific materialist ontology, or the modern ontology (Descartes/Newton, which was derived in part from Aristotle). However, Scientific materialism doesn't even work for science beginning with the 19th century discoveries about light and electromagnetism, and this view is further marginalized by Einsteinian relativity, and Scientific materialism is completely destroyed (as an ontological viewpoint) by quantum mechanics. Matter cannot be brute, material, physical stuff. Second, consciousness is not mysterious, but prehension (primitive experience) is ubiquitous. Ironically, because Whitehead (logician and mathematician with the scientific point of view) was quite rigorous in his thinking, my guess is that MorbidAtheist would agree with the process point of view if he understood it better. I'm responding to:
