  • TOP SECRET - PLASMA WEAPON There are three classic states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas; however, plasma is considered by some scientists to be the fourth state of matter because of its unique properties. Ionized refers to presence of one or more free electrons, which are not bound to an atom or molecule. The free electric charges make the plasma electrically conductive so that it responds strongly to electromagnetic fields. Plasma typically takes the form of neutral gas-like clouds (eg stars) or charged ion beams, but may also include dust and grains (called dusty plasmas).[1] They are typically formed by heating and ionizing a gas, stripping electrons away from atoms, thereby enabling the positive and negative charges to move more freely. The Radio Instrument Building Research Institute under the supervision of Academician A. Avramenko developed a plasma weapon capable of killing any target at altitudes of up to 50 kilometers. Engineers and scientists of the institute in cooperation with the National Research Institute of Experimental Physics (Arzamas-16), Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, and Central Machine Building Research Institute prepared a concept of the international experiment Doverie (Trust) for testing of the Russian plasma weapon at the American ABM testing ground in the Pacific Ocean together with the US. The cost of the experiment was estimated at $300 million. According to Academician Avramenko, the plasma antimissile weapon would not only cost tens times less than the ...

  • Plasma: The 4th State of Matter Plasma is widely considered to be the fourth state of matter due to its unique properties. Plasma is a gas in which the atoms are ionized, meaning there are free negatively charged electrons and positively charged ions. This collection of charged particles can be controlled by electromagnetic fields and this allows plasmas to be used as a controllable reactive gas. The electronics industry uses this concept to etch very small patterns into silicon to make our modern day devices smaller and more efficient. This movie was produced by students Bobby Bruce and Michael Sweatt for the A. James Clark School of Engineering's 2008 Vid/Terp competition.

  • VERY large Plasma Ball Click here to see the plasma in a High Resolution Photograph: Remember the Plasma Ball sitting next to the bed in Fry's room in the 'Movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off'? That's what triggered my interest in plasmas all those years ago. This is a 20 inch wide plasma ball (Plasma Discharge Flask) made from Pyrex® (impact and heat resistant) containing Neon, Xenon and Argon with a custom built power supply which runs at 30-50khz. This is one of the largest plasmas you'll find outside a museum although my video camera seems to be unable to recognize the blue colors in the plasma. This is actually not the largest plasma in my collection although it's the largest that I can carry by myself without assistance. The globe in this video has more than one effect depending on the Power Supply used at the time (see linked images): Normal plasma Driver: Masonlite Plasma Driver from 1989:

  • Wall Mount TV, HDTV Installation, Plasma LCD TV, Home Theater Recessed Pro-Power Kit Installation Use our easy-to-install Recessed Pro-Power Installation Kit to install power and hide unwanted audio/video (hdmi, component video, etc) cables in the wall behind your wall mount tv, lcd, hdtv, or plasma flat panel TV. This kit brings a clean, professional image to your at-home lcd, hdtv, or plasma flat panel tv installation. Since this kit does not connect to your homes existing wiring, there is no contact with live electrical circuits. To install, connect the two Recessed Cable Plates using electrical wire. Plug the female end of the extension cord into the Recessed Cable Plate with Straight Blade Inlet and the male end into a surge protector or power outlet. This connection will bring power to your hdtv, lcd, or plasma TV or A/V equipment. The Recessed Pro-Power Kit comes with simple instructions for a quick and easy flat panel, lcd, hdtv, home theater or plasma tv installation. Click the following link for a list of retailers:

  • Home Made $260 plasma cutter Simple & powerful plasma cutter that you can build at home for under $300! It cuts up to 1/2 inch steel. This is what I made to cut sheets of 316 stainless for building hho cells. It makes cutting stainless like cutting butter. I found that 4x8 foot sheets of 316 cost only $150 so I needed a way to slice them up. Please be aware that there is an error in the schematic at the end which will keep it from working correctly. This video was made in a hurry. I will post some move videos with all the correct info if anyone cares. Engineers told me it was to hard to do and it would take them a year to design a plasma cutter. However, if plasma cutting was invented by accident during world war two then I knew I could do it on purpose. A home made torch head is super cheap, however I choose a replacement torch head because they have better air nozzle control and make a smoother cut; $125 of the price was spent on the "replacement" torch head. I have sold plans in the past, but really this is just to good of a tool to not let everyone know how to build one. So this is my gift to the DIY community.. Please note that in this schematic the inductor and water resistor needs swaping, otherwise it will not work!. The resistor can not be in the torch wire it must be in the work clamp wire.

  • Plasma Rocket Plasma test shots from the VASIMR VX-100 prototype plasma rocket housed at NASA's Johnson Space Center. The video is slowed down to 1/2 speed. In general, these types of thrusters (ion thrusters, Hall thrusters, and VASIMR) take advantage of extremely high exhaust velocities and generally have the ability to operate continuously for months. Although the thrust is much lower than a chemical rocket, the ultimate speed and/or payload fraction delivered is generally much higher. A new higher power rocket (VX-200) is being constructed and will be tested in a new vacuum chamber that is large enough to drive a full size school bus into (with room to spare). The Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMR) is now operated by the Ad Astra Rocket Company, created by former astronaut Dr. Franklin Chang-Diaz (7 Space Shuttle flights). • Instructional: How to Make Plasma in a Microwave A step-by-step, information-filled explanation of the process used to create terrestrial plasma in a microwave. Experiment info: A plasma is an ionized gas. What does that mean? It means that the gas has, by some means, reached its first ionization energy (in this case through 2.4 GHz microwaves). What does that mean? It means that one electron has been removed from the outer energy shell, thus causing the gas to be dissociated (the plasma you see). When the microwaves stop hitting the gas, the compounds return (mostly) to their original configuration. Skip to ≈ 3:50 to see the plasma in action. Preceding is the process for preparing the experiment. Materials DIsclaimer: If you do this too much, you'll destroy the magnetron in your microwave. Personal Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for you. That said, you should be CAREFUL when you try this. Anyone with a BRAIN can pull it off SAFELY. Follow the instructions! If you're stupid, don't try to replicate this experiment. In fact, if you're just dumb, go away. Now. Please. No, seriously. Why are you still reading this? GO!
