  • Sculptures by: Negin sharifzade[Ms] "Inspired from Haiku" This collection of my work is entitled, "Inspired from Haiku". It has been while since I have got introduced to Haiku, the Japanese traditional poetry. This kind of poetry has attracted my interest and attention as it combines form, content, and language in a meaningful, yet compact and minimal form, writes about everyday things. Many themes include nature, feelings, or experiences. Usually they use simple words and grammar. I have been inspired by these exceptional characteristics in order to shape and form my sculptures, choosing the technique of my work, its material, the form of pedestals and the way the exhibition has been organized and the sculptures have been placed at the Gallery during the exhibition period. This sense and theme of poetry has also been considered in making the presented short film. Aluminum was the material I chose to work with because of its color, its ease in getting shaped and formed in metal casting which indeed helped me create the forms I was inspired from the poetry. I have made the first modeling of my works from (Cork, Phellem), plastic wood and as shown in the film, the models were sent to the casting workshop to transfer to Aluminum with the technique of Aluminum casting. I tried to exhibit Haiku's poetry characteristics, with an emphasis on its simplicity and its minimal form.
