The Russian Turkish War: The independence of BULGARIA The most important and remarkable thing when you visit Pleven is the Panorama hall. Nowadays there are 33 panoramas all over the world. One of them with the biggest dimensions is constructed in Pleven, about 170 km to the north-west of Sofia. Pleven is one of the largest Bulgarian towns with a millennium history and full of historical sights. Pleven became internationally famous with the five-month battles during the Russian-Turkish war 1877-78 (Русско-турецкая война 1877—1878) as a result of which Bulgaria was liberated from the 500 years of Ottoman yoke. The Pleven Epopee 1877 Panorama depicts these events combining painting, plastics and architecture in a whole artwork. It was painted by a team of 11 Russian and 2 Bulgarian artists. The Panorama was officially unveiled on 10 December 1977. Everything there is very realistic and where ever you stay, you feel as if you're in the center of the battlefield! Governor Stevens T. Mason reinterment The first Governor of Michigan, Stevens T. Mason's mortal remains were reinterred in its 1905 monument in Capital Park on October 27th, 2010. Originally buried in New York (where he died), his remains were brought back to Michigan and placed in this location where the original Michigan Captial was located (burned in the 1890's, and the captial had already moved to Lansing). His remains were moved again, to another section of the park, in 1955 to make way for a bus terminal. The park was recently restored, along with the monument, this year. Mason was the 4th territorial governor, and the first elected governor of Michigan. He was 19 when appointed, 24 when elected. Died in 1843 at the age of 31. Originally a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Detroit, the Dean of the now Cathedral Church of St. Paul, the Very Reverend Scott Hunter, performed the ceremony and gave a short panegyric oration (excerpted here). One of his successors 29 years after he was in office, the 15th governor of Michigan, Henry Porter Baldwin, was the founder of St. John's Church.

A ghazal may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain. The form is ancient, originating in 6th century pre-Islamic Arabic verse. It is derived from the Arabian panegyric qasida. The structural requirements of the ghazal are similar in stringency to those of the Petrarchan sonnet. In its style and content it is a genre which has proved capable of an extraordinary variety of expression around its central themes of love and separation. It is one of the principal poetic forms which the Indo-Perso-Arabic civilization offered to the eastern Islamic world.

Make Them to Be Numbered With Thy Saints (1.53) The Dettingen Te Deum (HWV 283) is a canticle in D major composed by George Frideric Handel in 1743. The Battle of Dettingen (German: Schlacht bei Dettingen) took place on 27 June 1743 at Dettingen in Bavaria during the War of the Austrian Succession. It was the last time that a British monarch, George II, personally led his troops into battle. The British forces, in alliance with those of Hanover and Hesse, defeated a French army under the duc de Noailles although France and Britain had not yet declared war. On 27 June 1743, the British army and its allies, under the command of King George II and Lord Stair, won a victory at the Battle of Dettingen, over the French army, commanded by the Maréchal de Noailles and the Duc de Grammont. On the King's return a day of public thanksgiving was appointed, and Handel, at that time "Composer of the Musick to the Chapel Royal," was commissioned to write a Te Deum and an anthem ("The King Shall Rejoice") for the occasion. The work was composed between 17 and 29 July 1743 and was first performed on 27 November 1743 in the Chapel Royal of St. James's Palace, London in the presence of George II.
