  • The Drum - Poem by John Scott of Amwell John Scott of Amwell (1730-1783) The Drum I Hate the drum's discordant sound, Parading round, and round, and round: To thoughtless youth it pleasure yields, And lures from cities and from fields, To sell their liberties for charms Of tawdry lace, and glittering arms; And when Ambition's voice commands, To march, and fight, and fall, in foreign lands. I hate the drum's discordant sound, Parading round, and round, and round: To me it talks of ravaged plains, And burning towns, and ruined swains, And mangled limbs, and dying groans, And widows' tears, and orphans' moans; And all that Misery's hand bestows. To fill the catalogue of human woes. Awesome protest from this Quaker against war, I await to see a baby boomer match this protest for they cannot. What need I say except I could not have read this so, except for the war upon us, which I have dedicated well.
  • The Last Pilgrims The Last Pilgrims is an expansive saga following several main characters and a host of minor characters as they live and survive in post-collapse America. The book starts 20 years after the collapse of the United States of America (and the stunning destruction of the industrial system world-wide). The mystery begins to unfold immediately when two old friends unexpectedly meet again and are threatened with all out war. Stuck in a power struggle of epic proportions, a group of pacifist Christians called the Vallenses plead for intervention from the King of the Southern States. Twists and turns quickly find this group of people beset by challenges... and help they never expected. An epic tale, and an old story made new. Eye-opening and provocative in light of today's uncertain times. And guaranteed to make you think about what life might be like if everything suddenly ended and then started over again.

Channeled from the Cosmic Mind, it contains it contains a powerful prophecy. It is also a handbook for accelerating brain evolution. These inspired ideas are crucial to our survival in the context of the growing nuclear threat and other environmental disasters. When humanity begins to understand that the brain is still evolving with the target of a Super Mind, the current mad race for wealth and power will start to slow down. The exploration of factors that can accelerate our evolution, as well as current obstacles, can be a unifying factor in a project for the collective good. When it is understood that everything we think and do has an impact on the brain's evolution, a revision will occur on all fronts, diminishing the effects of greed and prejudice. The laws governing our evolutionary ascent, described time and again by enlightened seers, are the same forces guarding the rise and fall of civilizations. • This was Paul Proteus Speaking Player Piano, author Kurt Vonnegut's first novel, was published in 1952. It is a dystopia of automation and capitalism, describing the dereliction they cause in the quality of life. The story takes place in a near-future society that is almost totally mechanized, eliminating the need for human laborers. This widespread mechanization creates conflict between the wealthy upper class—the engineers and managers who keep society running—and the lower class, whose skills and purpose in society have been replaced by machines. The book uses irony and sentimentality, which were to become a hallmark developed further in later works. In Greek mythology, Proteus (Πρωτεύς) is an early sea-god, one of several deities whom Homer calls the "Old Man of the Sea"[1], whose name suggests the "first" (from Greek "πρῶτος" - protos, "first"), as protogonos (πρωτόγονος) is the "primordial" or the "firstborn". He became the son of Poseidon in the Olympian theogony (Odyssey iv. 432), or of Nereus and Doris, or of Oce*** and a Naiad, and was made the herdsman of Poseidon's seals, the great bull seal at the center of the harem. He can foretell the future, but, in a mytheme familiar from several cultures, will change his shape to avoid having to; he will answer only to someone who is capable of capturing him. From this feature of Proteus comes the adjective protean, with the general meaning of "versatile", "mutable", "capable of assuming many forms". "Protean" has positive ...

Is it because of the difference Is it because of what we share I hope it's, not, indifference Or that we don't, even, care Maybe someday, I can live with you We'll pray together, the Arab and the Jew I don't know why, we, never get along Why won't someone ever ring the gong? • Hymn of Life - To All nations (original) War is merely the catastrophic effect of our daily living, and so long as we do not change our daily living, no amount of legislation, controls, and sanctions will prevent war. Is peace in the mind and heart, in the way of our life, or is it merely a governmental regulation, something to be decided in the United Nations? I am afraid that for most of us, peace is only a matter of legislation, and we are not concerned with peace in our own minds and hearts; therefore, there can be no peace in the world. You cannot have peace, inward or outward, so long as you are ambitious, competitive, so long as you regard yourself as a German, a Hindu, a Russian, or an Englishman, so long as you are striving to become somebody in this mad world. Peace comes only when you understand all this and are no longer pursuing success in a society which is already corrupt. Only the peaceful mind, the mind that understands itself, can bring peace in the world. Havent you ever asked yourself why it is that human beings lack this thing? They beget children, they have ***, tenderness, a quality of sharing something together in companionship, in friendship, in fellowship, but this thing why is it they havent got it? Havent you ever wondered lazily on occasion when you are walking by yourself in a filthy street or sitting in a bus or are on holiday by the seaside or walking in a wood with a lot of birds, trees, streams and wild animals hasnt it ever come upon you to ask why it is that man, who has lived ...
