Infrastructure bond offer The government's fourth infrastructure bond offer has received offers amounting to 37.4 billion shillings. This represents an oversubscription of 18 per cent compared with the 31.6 billion shillings that the bond intended to raise. The Central Bank has however accepted bids amounting to 30.6 billion shillings. During the bond's auction, the weighted average yield rate for the 9-year bond was set at 7.293 per cent, compared with the 6 per cent coupon rate that the government has offered to investors. The proceeds of the bond will be spent on various public infrastructure projects ranging from geothermal energy, roads, and water projects. The government now plans to issue a 12 billion shillings Treasury Bond next month.

Housing finance bond oversubscribed by 41% Housing Finance has registered a 41 per cent over subscription for its recent bond issue collecting 7 billion shillings against the 5 billion shillings it targeted to raise. And following the over subscription the mortgage lender has chosen to exercise the Greenshoe Option, which means that all investors will get their full investment's worth of the bond offer. Local investors fully snapped up the bond with institutional investors accounting for 98 per cent of the take-up while retail investors got the remaining 2 per cent. Housing Finance Managing Director Frank Ireri says the funds will be used to expand its mortgage-lending wallet to cater for both large-scale real estate developers as well as individuals seeking to own homes.

News Update: ProLogis (NYSE:PLD) Closed Fixed-Rate, Convertible Senior Notes Offering 3/17/2010- ProLogis (NYSE:PLD) announced it has closed an offering of fixed-rate and convertible senior notes priced on March 9, 2010, according to a Bloomberg report. The company also said that the underwriters exercised their $60 million over-allotment option, bringing the convertible senior note issuance to $460 million. Combined with $1.1 billion of the seven- and ten-year notes, ProLogis closed on net proceeds of $1.54 billion of senior notes. CFO William E. Sullivan said, "These new debt issuances and the tender offer that closed Monday go a long way toward addressing ProLogis' goal of further smoothing debt maturities. We are pleased with the participation in both the tender and the debt offering and believe the significant oversubscription of more than four times the debt issued demonstrates our access to the capital markets and reflects the market's appreciation for our recent efforts."

Saturday Afternoon Romford Parking This is the queue for the Brewery Car Park. It starts pretty much from the end of Main Road. I spotted this lot this afternoon on a shopping trip to Romford Market and was amazed that people insist on taking their cars when traffic jams like this build up purely due to over subscription of car parking facilities. While I accept it is difficult to transport large or bulky items on buses, there is always the internet available to order these things and have them delivered to your door. For everthing else you can either walk, take a bus or even cycle.
