  • Spirit of the Wolves PLEASE READ!!!! ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The state is offering incentives for people who kill wolves Wolves are incredible creatures whom roam Alaska. Unfortunately, these great creatures are listed as an endangered species. Why? Famine sometimes plays a hand, but the main enemy of the wolf is humans. Because of their bad reputation, wolves have been over hunted, and humans have moved in on their territory. However, action is being taken to save the grey wolf, and numbers have been climbing. However, according to the Board of Games, apparently, this still endangered species is growing too much in Alaska. The organization decided to allow up to 900 wolves to be killed by the barbaric practice of aerial gunning. This brings us to the point of this petition: the slaughter must stop. It doesn't matter whether you are a lover of wolves and nature or not -massacring large numbers is not okay. Please Rate and leave a comment I OWN NOTHING

  • Sharons Birthday Gift Slide Show B&W Youth PIctures Ironwood Michigan Gogebic County Upper Peninsula Pine Lake Sharons Birthday Gift Slide Show B&W Youth PIctures Ironwood Michigan Gogebic County Upper Peninsula Pine Lake [edit] History Main articles: Timeline of Michigan history and History of Michigan The first known inhabitants of the Upper Peninsula were tribes speaking Algonquian languages. They arrived roughly around 800 AD and subsisted chiefly from fishing. Early tribes included the Menominee, Nocquet, and the Mishinimaki. Etienne Brulé of France was probably the first European to visit the peninsula, crossing the St. Marys River around 1620 in search of a route to the Far East.[1] French colonists laid claim to the land in the 17th century, establishing missions and fur trading posts such as Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace. Following the end of the French and Indian War (part of the Seven Years' War) in 1763, the territory was ceded to Great Britain. American Indian tribes formerly allied with the French were dissatisfied with the British occupation, which brought new territorial policies. Whereas the French cultivated alliances among the Indians, the British postwar approach was to treat the tribes as conquered peoples. In 1763 tribes united in Pontiac's Rebellion to try to drive the British from the area. American Indians captured Fort Michilimackinac, near present-day Mackinaw City, Michigan, then the principal fort of the British in the Michilimackinac region, as well as others and killed hundreds of British. In 1764 they began negotiations with the British which ...
  • "Jungle Tour" Oltona's photos around Rurrenabaque, Bolivia A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Rurrenabaque, Bolivia by TravelPod blogger Oltona titled "Jungle Tour" Oltona's travel blog entry: "I have to be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to the jungle tour because of the mosquito's and other insects but hey, after months of traveling, I'm pretty much up for anything! Ha! Jungle Tour - Day 1: After a 2 hour river boat ride on the river Beni (what I would call a real river with currents flowing) we arrived at camp. The tour office had said that the accommodation would be far more basic on the jungle tour than the pampas tour but how wrong could they be! When I walked into the camp I was amazed. Lovely surroundings with palm trees and jungle all around; large logs used to make walkways and lovely wooden cabins for the common room, kitchen and dorms. The sun was beaming down and everything looked lush and green, with the sound of the river in the background. Exploring the grounds before lunch, I found a resident tropical spider - black and yellow in colour with long legs - basking in the sunshine in its web near a tree stump, and lots of little ant hill dotted around. Apparently there are very few mosquito's in the jungle, so we were told NOT to put repellent on before our afternoon jungle trek as the repellent would deter the animals. The guide said to just put on long pants and a long sleeved top and we'd be fine .... he lied!!! But then again, it wouldn't be a jungle without mossies and insects now would ...
