Dog Training Tutorial: Holding Objects & Clean Up! As requested by many people, in this video I demonstrate the steps in teaching a dog to hold an object by shaping the behavior. Also, you can build on this and teach them to put their toys away in a basket. The trick is to break the task down into smaller components and train each of those independently to success. Realizing that a complex behavior chain such as this can take several training sessions spread out over a period of days allows us to be patient & teach amazing things through positive reinforcement. The best part about this is that we create a dog that enjoys learning, and figures out on his/her own what we are trying to teach.

Teaching Kinect to recognize objects on the PC using OpenKinect (drivers) + OpenCV (image processing and recognition) + FestVox (speech synthesis) + CMU Sphinx (speech recognition). Proof of concept. I'm wearing a headset because OpenKinect does not yet support audio input. All of the processing and recognition occurs in real time.

You have to place the special magnetic disc that comes with the unit, inside of the objects you want to float. The device I'm using in this video is the Levitron Revolution. Normally you are supposed to place an object on top of the magnetic disc. Obviously you can have a lot of fun doing that and get great results but I wanted to take it a step further by hiding the disc inside what ever object I was trying to float. To see the object floating "by itself" just gives a much more dramatic feel. To float the rubiks cube, I had to drill out a hole in the cube big enough for the disc to fit in. I felt really bad destroying a rubiks cube but I thought the final result was worth it.
