More Nutria in Oregon So of course I was the only one of my friends who thought the nutria were cool and not disgusting. :) Admittedly they look like a beaver-rat with bright orange teeth, but I like all animals so of course I got right in there with them. At one point there were four of them, all coming up for food. It seems like they don't have great eyesight and lead themselves by their nose on land. I understand they're mostly aquatic. Anyway, it was cool seeing and feeding them, especially the albino one which I didn't get video of (only pictures).

Read the full blog here: This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: New Orleans, United States Entry Title: "Gators and dum-dum eating nutria" Entry: "After another night of barely any sleep, we woke up for another trip out of the city. We took a two and a half hour journey to Lafayette, LA (aka Cajun Country). Our first stop was Vermillionville. Vermillionville is a recreation of an Acadian village in the 19th century. It also contains several restored period buildings. The Acadians came to Louisana after the British forced them out of Nova Scotia. "Cajun" came from a dilution of the word "Acadian". Anyway, we visited the houses and buildings and saw some people doing crafts from the period. We decided to have lunch at Vermillionville. They had a buffet at the restaurant for only $9.95. There was barbeque brisket, chicken and andouille gumbo, green beans, rice, yams, and peach cobbler for dessert. Yumm...Good thing we decided to have lunch there because we definitely wouldn't have found anything to eat at our next stop. We headed to downtown Lafayette after we finished our buffet lunch. I guess everything is closed on Sundays because nothing was open and there was no one around. We visited Saint John the Evanglist Cathedral and looked at several Robert Dafford murals. We had to head back towards Baton Rouge to join our swamp tour after that. On the way ...
