SCN-lg suprachiasmatic nuclei.wmv The photoreceptors in the retina convert visible rays into electrical signals. The signals move to the visual cortex which deciphers the image. However, there is an alternate pathway which takes the signals to the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the hypothalamus. It is this, which governs circadian rhythm.
Water dimer: classical versus quantum nuclei /ice We compare ways of considering the atomic nuclei in a computer simulation of the water dimer. In the first part, we treat the nuclei as classical point particles. However, we know that the nuclei are in fact quantum mechanical, and so in the second part, we use a treatment that takes account of the quantum mechanics of the nuclei. The technique we use is "path integral molecular dynamics", in which a set of replicas of the system of the system (often called "beads"), which are coupled together by springs, are simulated. This treatment allows us to accurately include the quantum mechanical nature of the nuclei in our simulation. This can be important if light nuclei are involved in the system, and/or the temperature under consideration is low as the effects of the quantum mechanics of the nuclei are greater in these cases. Here we consider a water dimer. It is important to treat the nuclei as quantum particles because hydrogen atoms, which have the lightest of all nuclei, are intrinsically involved in a case such as the water dimer.
New neutron-rich nuclei support 'island of inversion' theory Researchers at the Michigan State University National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) have succeeded in producing and measuring the production rates of 15 new neutron-rich isotopes never before produced in a laboratory setting. Several of these new, rare isotopes were produced at significantly higher-than-expected rates. The result suggests the existence of a new "island of inversion," a region of isotopes with enhanced stability in a sea of mostly fleeting and unstable nuclei at the edge of the nuclear map.

Nuclei - Hydrogen Powered Bike - 3D Animation - in HD This was my entry in a contest a little over a year ago. The theme of the contest was environmentally friendly products, so I created this science fiction type bike. Everything was modeled, textured, animated, and rendered in Cinema 4D. There is some post work (motion blur, and the "green" icons") that was done in After Effects. This entry won first place, and my prize was the Special Edition Boxx workstation that I am currently using. The winning contest entries can be found at this link.... There are some parts of the bike that are very low poly (low detailed), and that was because I was using a very old computer at the time, and it was not capable of working with huge scene files.

Me on: NephilimFree changing the decay rates of nuclei! Yes, NephilimFree is so powerful that he managed to change the decay rates of nuclei! "Drs Humphreys and Baumgardner realized that there were too many independent lines of evidence (the variety of elements used in "standard" radioisotope dating, mature uranium radiohalos, fission track dating and more) that indicated that huge amounts of radioactive decay had actually taken place." But what exactly do Drs Humphreys and Baumgardner actually claiming, well... First, they claim that the diffusion rates have ALWAYS been constant, and I'll quote them: The "diffusion rates are tied straightforwardly to the laws of atomic physics, which are in turn intimately connected to the biochemical processes that sustain life. It is difficult to imagine any such drastic difference in atomic physics that would have allowed life on earth to exist." Second, the decay rates were accelerated by God! Yes, you heard it: MAGIC-MAN-DUN-IT! "Thus our new diffusion data support the main hypothesis of the RATE research initiative: that God drastically accelerated the decay rates of long half-life nuclei during the earth's recent past."
