For example the waste from fish farms can be used to fertilize otherwise non-arable land to plant crops, the extra parts of which can be used to make fuel which is then used to boil salt water to make freshwater or some other useful synergy of resources. There is really no limit to the clever useage of resources as long as human ingenuity is allowed to flourish.
