Jessica Ward part 1 Myoclonic Dystonia Jessica suffers from a neurological disorder called Myoclonic Dystonia. It causes weakness, pain, twitching, shaking, muscle cramps and spasms, inability to do simple tasks, and seizure like episodes that involve every muscle in the body, and more. When her legs or arms cramp she looks like a stiff board and is unable to move them or bend them at all. This can last a minute to several minutes. She suffered on last week that lasted longer than an hour and she ended up in the emergency room where they medicated her with IV muscle relaxers to get it to stop. That was the worse episode so far and we hope the last of it's kind. We hope to be an inspiration to others looking for a diagnosis or who suffers from this disorder.

Atonic-Myoclonic Seizure Activity in Autistic Young Adult Autistic young adult awakens with atonic (drop-like)-seizure activity. Depakote (valporic acid) normally controls atonic seizures, but chronic triggering of hyperammonia has caused CONSTANT problems in medical and behavioral management of case. ABS-103 is a new drug currently being studied that may be an alternative to depakote. I sure hope they find something because atonic seizures are serious and thwart people from progressing....
Myoclonic? Apparently... Charlie started doing more jerking and usually in response to stimuli. We had an EEG scheduled to determine if it was seizures but before that they advanced into full-blown seizures that were unmistakable. We still have the EEG scheduled. I guess we'll find out if she's having any we don't recognize.

It use to be limited to the left calf but recently has spread to the right as well. Muscle movement is involuntary and without control on her part. She can do nothing about them but, to wait it out. She is back to using a cane and we hope this is temporary.
Non epileptic myoclonus of infancy Our baby angel started having jerks around 5-6 months old. It came very suddently, and soon she had around 100 seizures a day! Doctors thought she was suffering from Infantile spasms and for months, we went from hospital to hospital and from doctor to doctor. She went through 2xEEG and MR brain scan, but they couldnt find anything!! The diagnosis she got, was "non epileptic myoclonus of infancy", and one day the seizures just stopped!! We haven't seen them for months now, and our daughter is developing with HIGH-SPEED! Hopes and prayers from hundreds of people saved our daughter... Thank you God!!
Benign Sleep Myoclonus of Infancy Our son was diagnosed as having Benign Sleep Myoclonus of Infancy. He should outgrow it in a month or two. He is five days old in this video. He has a brother with Paroxysmal Tonic Upgaze Disorder (PTU). Both are benign movement disorders.
Myoclonic Seizures Myoclonics are an often slight form of seizure. Everybody has myoclonic seizures including hiccups and when you twitch when your drifting off to sleep. Its only when these seizures are causing difficulties or are accompanied with other seizures that epilepsy is diagnosed.
Nocturnal Myoclonus
Myoclonic Epilepsy - seizures Seizures are at 20 seconds into the video and again at 30 seconds. This is a brief shot of my 23 month old daughters seizures. Just diagnosed with Myoclonic Epilepsy. This is what they typically look like. Some are shorter, few are longer. None last more than a few seconds with most being just a second long. I have seen several videos of other children's myoclonic but none that resemble my daughters. She has them several times a day but never falls from them. She goes back to normal activity once they are done and doesn't even drop whats in her hand.
Myoclonic seizure cluster Zack April 2009 Zack was diagnosed with generalized epilepsy when he was three years old. Later it was determined he has Lennox Gastaut Syndrom. He has 5-15 minutes of myoclonic seizures after waking up in the morning. During the day he has sporadic myoclonic jerks and absence seizures. Since puberty began last year (he is now 18 years old) the grand mal seizures have increased. Having so many seizures on a daily basis has caused Zack to be mentally impaired. He functions as a 5-6 year old. Zack has been on every AED and AED ***tail. He currently takes 750mg of Depakote ER 2x daily along with 150mg of Vimpat 2x daily. We have also attempted the ketogenic diet but dr.'s at U of M suggested we discontinue because its effects on him were life threatening. The vagal nerve stimlulator was also uneffective in controlling his seizures.
myoclonus one attack
Is this a Myoclonic seizure? Infantile spasm? My son, who has always been kinda fidgety, recently started doing these "happy fingers" a couple months ago when we introduced solid foods at 4 months. He also stiffens up his legs a lot (again when he seems excited). He doesn't do it all the time, as you will see in the video...when his hands are occupied or he's playing with a toy, he's not wiggly. He starts wiggling his fingers at about :07. At about 1:25 he has a slight jerk. He is now almost 9 months and it hasn't stopped. We are starting to get concerned it's something neurological. We took him to our Pediatrician who said the behavior is "odd", but sometimes kids do odd things when their nervous system is still developing but is sending him for an EEG next week. Wondering if those of you how have experience with seizures or spasms think this might be something. Dr. doesn't feel autism is an issue becuase he makes good eye contact and is social. PS—his twin sister is being noisy in the background. Thank you!
Sleep Myoclonus Seizures1 These seizures happen just after Sean goes to sleep and then happen sporadically through the night. They are hard to see, as they are more muscle contractions along his back and legs rather then jerking movements.
