  • Ampullariidae - Golden Apple Snails (Aquatic Gastropod Mollusks) eating trout fry HD720i Two Golden Apple Snails (Ampullariidae from the superfamily Ampullarioidea) eating a dead trout fry. They sniffed it out very quickly and raced around the tank (as snails do!) trying to find the root of the "smell" (The chemical signature of a dying or dead creature). Unfortunately I didn't have the correct lens to film them at such a close proximity hence the unfocussed subjects, and by the time I gave up looking, they had found the fallen trout fry and gobbled up quite a lot of it. Enjoy, if you like that sort of thing!

  • Pakistan (Floods and Mollusks) Japan (Cooks) 22/07/2010 Flash Flood FF-20100722-27078-PAK Pakistan MultiStates Situation Update No. 5 On 24.07.2010 at 03:32 GMT+2 Over 30 villages of the flood-hit areas of Balochistan on Friday remained submerged in floodwater where hundreds of people were awaiting rescue and relief operation. Though reports reaching here suggested that the Pak Army, the FC and local administration teams had reached the affected areas in Kohlu, Sibi and Barkhan and started rescue and relief operation yet they could not reach all the affected people due to the massive scale of the damage caused to the property in different areas. The hill torrents caused by thunderous rains had caused flash floods in the River Nari that inundated several nearby villages in the Sibi district. The worst affected parts in the Sibi district were Sultan Goth, Tali and other surrounding areas where at least 10000 people had been affected. Meanwhile, the bodies of some 17 persons were retrieved from the floodwater in Barkhan district while 13 were still missing. Hundreds of people are stranded in various parts of the affected districts, awaiting rescue and relief activities. They had taken refuge at comparatively higher places of the area ie trees, railway station, etc. Four helicopters of the Pakistan Army, carrying relief goods, food, medicines and medical teams, reached the affected parts of Kohlu, Sibi and other areas. Some 600 Jawans of Pak Army's Southern Command have also started a rescue operation. Similarly, the ...

  • MOVIE EXTRA WebFest - Mollusks Mollusks delves into the animated deep-sea shenanigans of two slimy mollusk brothers, Ryan and Erik, and their attempt to reinvent themselves after a life of crime and corruption. Trying to stay “cleanâ€, however, is not as easy as they'd hoped. When Erik (limpet) finds himself involved in the unfortunate murder of a notorious crime-boss' wife, the proverbial filth hits the fan. He and Ryan (sea snail) look to an old friend for help when Vincenzo Pedersoli (box jellyfish) puts a price on their unsegmented asses for the death of his spouse. However, they soon realises there is no escaping Pedersoli's goons in any corner of the ocean. Now there is only one place for them to hide: Land! Before long, the Mollusks find themselves washed up at shore and into a new world. Life on the outside, nevertheless, is not as smooth as they anticipated and it becomes rapidly apparent that you can take the Mollusk out of the ocean, but you can't take the ocean out of the Mollusk.
