One Day After ACL Reconstruction and Meniscal Repair at Sanders Clinic Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are a common orthopaedic problem, especially in sports that are high-contact or involve sudden changes in direction. This particular patient tore his right ACL and meniscus while skateboarding. He walked into the hospital and out of the hospital the same day with no crutches or braces and came into the clinic the next day. His dressings were changed, xrays were taken, and he was instructed on his rehab progression. This video is of footage shot approximately 24 hours after surgery. While the footage shows a few of the rehab exercises, including gait training, using the Shuttle Miniclinic, and knee extensions, there are many other exercises involved. This patient's ACL reconstruction involved taking a bone-patellar tendon-bone graft from his left knee and inserting it into his right knee. This graft is what is known as the "gold standard" because of its strength and healing time. His bucket handle tear of the medial meniscus was repaired using sutures.
