  • Chihuahua having lower body spasm, syringomyelia? This is my four pound chihuahua. She just turned one year old and began having these unexplainable lower body spasms. I took her to the emergency vet where they witnessed the spasms and were unable to give me a diagnosis. The next day she went to the reglar vet where they observed her all day, drew labs for a CBC w/ Diff to check for infection, did neurologic tests which came back normal, palpated her body for pain, broken bones or abnormaly sized organs, which also turned out normal. The vets do not think it is any type of epilepsy due to the fact that she is still alert when the spasms are occuring. They have told me she should see a Pet Neurologist for a CSF tap to see if she has an infection or swelling in the brain which could indicate GME (Granulomatous Meningoencephalitis). When the spasms stop she goes back to her normal, happy self with her tail up and running around. She has the spasms more often when she gets excited. I have not done an MRI or CSF tap yet due to the cost. If anyone has ever seen this before please let me know.

Will was battling a virus that caused his brain to swell. Meningoencephalitis. He had parents and friends that loved him more than anything. Will's friends and classmates organized prayer vigils outside the hospital where he was being treated. The first night over 150 people showed up within an hour, all praying for Will to get better. But God had other plans for Will. It has been hard on everybody. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers. We made this video for everyone that has been affected by this. It's hard, but you have to let go and let God. "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
