- Lungfish. Descender I saw her climb the 13th rung I heard her singing the song she sung I caught the flower that she flung I saw a paper tab burning on her tongue man She's an angel you'll agree Biggest damn halo that you're ever gonna see He mouth roars her eye shine If you're painfully honest you can stand in her light, man I saw her blow her fragile fuse I tried to crack her code but it was no use She's concentrating on levitation Her body burst into violet hues I took a look at her tattered shoes I offered her mine but she refused She said: I want these cuts on my feet, man gotta become sensitive as I can There were no more flowers anywhere She reached down put some trash in her hair, man She don't wonder and she don't ponder She keeps walking but she never wanders The tiny cuts in your skin They let a little fresh air in You dilate your opening And when it starts to gush: START TO SING I saw her bleed I saw her kneel I don't pretend to understand What she is feeling I saw her crying I saw her rise A golden ray of light Appeared between her eyes I saw her bleeding Rise rise rise. She rose above the gathering crowd The sky was dark and the weather was loud She coalesced up in the cloud She converted my without a word Her churchbell heartbeat was all I heard

- Shark Lungfish Living Fossil Stingray Hammerhead Poison Arrow frog What else? Video shows an Australian Lung Fish, Stingray, Hammerhead Shark, Sharks, Poison Arrow Frog, Boa constrictor, and a Monitor Lizard. Few films of the Australian lungfish exist. It is listed as endangered. What other fish are shown here? The display is gone and can't find out the names of the rest? The Australian/Queensland lung fish/lungfish (Neoceratodus forsteri) is a unique living fossil. It is the sole member of the family Ceratodontidae and one of only 6 lungfish species that exist. Note how the faces of the lung fish resemble those of some amphibians. Also note how their fins are under their bodies as are the limbs of land animals and how they use these fins to "walk" underwater. It normally uses its gills for breathing, but can also take in oxygen from the air. The species belongs to an extremely ancient group, called the fleshy-finned fish that are over 400 million years old. Fossils of identical fish have been dated at over 100 million years. Thus, it is one of the very oldest surviving vertebrate species. Lungfish are not now considered the direct ancestors of Amphibians, but resemble a common ancestor. All vertebrates including ourselves are descended from this ancestor. This is the most primitive type of lungfish - compare it to the African lungfish. - Queensland Lungfish & Mary River Turtle The Mary River, in south-east Queensland, Australia, is home to the Mary River Turtle and the Queensland Lungfish. The proposed Traveston Dam would have placed even more pressure on these already threatened species, possibly wiping them out completely. QUEENSLAND LUNGFISH (Neoceratodus forsteri) The Queensland Lungfish is a living fossil, some records suggest it hasn't changed in at least 100 million years. Unique among fish, the lungfish has a modified swim bladder that it uses to breathe air at the water's surface. The lungfish will breathe this way to supplement the oxygen it takes in through its gills -- which is especially important when water quality is low and oxygen levels are reduced. The species can even survive out of water for several days if the skin is kept moist. Lungfish mature slowly, and won't reach reproductive maturity for 17-22 years. They are particular about their spawning grounds: there must be suitable aquatic plants to protect the eggs and subsequent juveniles, and the water can't be stagnant. If conditions aren't right, a lungfish will re-absorb its spawn and wait for the next year. It will repeat this each year until conditions improve, or until the fish is too old to reproduce. Already researches are noticing that there are fewer juvenile and young lungfish in the Mary River, which would indicate that either the adults are not spawning enough, or the eggs and juveniles aren't surviving in the current river conditions. The Queensland Lungfish ...

- Baby Lungfish This is my baby African Lungfish, Lucy. (My Dad named her.) She was in a 40 gallon system for several months, and it had superb filtration, lighting, heating, and a nice soft sand substrate. (freshwater sand.) She is being quarantined in preparation to be moved safely into her new tank, which is still being built. It will hold a little over 250 gallons, and she will be sharing it with 2 young turtles who are well-behaved enough not to bite fish. This is a quarantine tank, so don't hate. I know it's fugly. But at least it has a substrate! Man- I think I'm the only person on YouTube who actually uses a substrate in my lungfish tank. Isn't that just a given?? Any good aquarist would tell you to get one. Unless you run a sand filter in the sump, which I seriously doubt. She's about 6 inches long, and eats 4 times a week. I alternate between baby feeder guppies, baby nightcrawlers, rinsed, fresh blackworms, and baby ghost/glass shrimp. She is an extremely ancient species of animal, and has the ability to breathe air. You can hear her make a little squirting/squeaking sound shen she comes up for air around the middle of the clip. I love her so much, and I hope she lives on for many years. :)
