Rude, Dangerous and illegal bin lorry - Brighton, East Sus*** [Council Complaint evidence] Get your own helmet camera Get your own helmet intercoms Normally I wouldn't waste my energy over something like this. I'm certainly not *** enough to complain about people. However this is different, they nearly hit me last time and I got a mouthful of abuse. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera running. This time however I politely told them they're going the wrong way down a one way street, only to be asked "have i got a problem." Well yes, yes I do. I've got a problem with you breaking the law I've got a problem with you endangering the public I've got a problem with you causing traffic problems I've got a problem with you being rude It seems to me it's *not* the binmens fault, the council have placed the bin in such a way that they can only empty it by going the wrong way down a one way street! Who plans these things? It's absurd. This however doesn't give them the right to be rude, especially not when they're in the wrong. The rudeness fuelled the desire for me to make this complaint -- well done. So based on the abuse I received last time, and now catching it on camera I'll be forwarding this video to the local council and the local police. I'd like them to answer this question: Are bin lorries above the highway code? Are they exempt from the law? It appears the truck driver was unaware of hitting the Renault hatchback, before pushing the vehicle at 60 miles per hour along the UK Motorway. It spent most of it's working life as a tractor unit pulling trailers loaded with bricks and pre cast concrete buildings for it's original owner based at Aylesbury Buckinghamshire UK It has covered a considerable mileage with no reported breakdowns.The design dates back to the 1930's with a cab frame constructed of angled steel and timber. Early cabs were faced with 'tin' sheet but this was changed in the 1960's to the new fangled fibreglass. No air sprung seat in this cab and a young lorry driver of today may complain of the lack of power steering and pain in his left leg due to the lack of an air assisted clutch. No sleeper cab either for our pampered driver. His 'bed' consisted of a home constructed board placed on the central engine cover and supported by the seats. Oh and did I tell you that a cab heater was an optional extra in 1970..? Saying this the Atkinson was considered to be the 'SCANIA' of it's day with it's wrap round windscreen and relative comfort compared very favourably with vehicles from the previous decade. It is surprisingly a pleasure to drive and the old vinyl seat is very comfortable. The engine has a powerful roar that was music to the ears of a 'traditional' lorry driver of it's day. Horrible truck crash in China - Lorry overturn This incredible and shocking CCTV footage from a busy road in eastern China shows a lorry speeding over past a traffic light and overturning, nearly hitting a cyclist, bikers and nearby pedestrians. The truck was going at high speed as to avoid the red traffic light; while attempting to turn, the weight of the container was just too much, causing an overturn. This incident took place in Wenling City in eastern China's Zhejiang Province. Fortunately, no one was injured. To quote ITN's report, "officials said passersby narrowly avoided injury." Brynglas Tunnel - Lorry Fire Incident (M4, Nr Newport, Wales) The day that I was commuting to work only to come across a lorry on fire within the tunnel - everyone just drove by and initially I stopped 50 yards behind the lorry to prevent other cars from proceeding into the tunnel - however I then spotted the driver still near the cabin of the lorry - I accelerated towards him, flung open the passenger door and beckoned the driver into my car so as to get him out. Fortunately, he jumped in and off we went at speed out of the tunnel just as a tire exploded. Shortly after, the entire lorry starting erupting, including what we believe to be the fuel tank blowing up. Hell of a day...! Exchanging Places The Metropolitan Police is working with Transport for London, the London Cycling Campaign and the City of London Police to raise awareness amongst lorry drivers and cyclists of the difficulties faced by both groups when using the capital's roads.
