Silicon Run Lithography Buy Now: SILICON RUN LITHOGRAPHY examines the role of photolithography in imaging and printing the many intricate layers of integrated circuits. Focusing on critical and non-critical mask levels of a CMOS transistor, this video takes a close look at the manufacturing materials, tools, and processes that have made more precise and complex submicron lithography possible. SILICON RUN LITHOGRAPHY shows how mask patterns are greatly reduced and precisely positioned on silicon wafers using "step and repeat" and "step and scan" exposure processes. Running Time: 31 minutes "I wish I'd seen this video when I first started in lithography field. I would have quickly explained things I didn't know. It wasn't until nine months on the job that I really began to understand the whole process." Luke Mullen, Cymer, Inc. "I have viewed two of your videos SILICON RUN I and SILICON RUN LITHOGRAPHY, and I give them both two thumbs up." Birdseye Lithography: San Pedro, California in 1893 Visit My San Pedro for more about San Pedro, California (images, history, misc.). Pan and zoom video of the BW Pierce birds eye view lithograph of San Pedro and the harbor from 1893 (or, as most frequently identified, circa 1895). The drawing relatively accurately depicts the buildings, streets, railroads, docks and topography (though simplified and with a distorted perspective) of the time as they would have looked if viewed from the sky. Many of the structures are accurate enough to be recognizable from contemporary photographs, Sanborn maps, or from the very rare buildings which still remain to this day (including my own home). The portion of the drawing shown in the video was reprinted a few years later as a give-away promotion by George Peck (San Pedro banker and realty developer). If I recall correctly, the cropped Peck version was again reprinted and given away as a promotion in the 1970s by the Security-Pacific Bank. Original print labled local landmarks, businesses, prominent homes, churches, and attractions (including the beach resorts on Terminal Island and the redlight district, "Paradise Valley").
E-Beam Lithography, Part 2 E-beam lithography is the process of directing an electron beam across a resist layer and thereby creating a pattern that can be etched. Structures of 20nm can be produced. This is the technique that is often used to create nano scale waveguides and microring resonators. One type uses an scanning electron microscope equipped with special beam control software. The other far more expensive method is a dedicated e-beam facility that is able to etch structures directly. This video is part 2 of a 3-part series. Photonics Pioneer John Bjorkholm's Move to EUV Lithography Dr. John Bjorkholm speaks about his decision to pursue EUV lithography. This talk was hosted by the Stanford Student OSA/SPIE Chapter and the Stanford Photonics Research Center as the first part of their "Photonics Pioneers" series. About the speaker: John Bjorkholm was a Principal Scientist at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, CA from 1996 through 2002; his work there was concerned with the development of EUV lithography. Previously, he worked at Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ for 28 years, retiring in 1994 as a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff. During his Bell Labs tenure he carried out research in a number of areas, including lasers, nonlinear optics, and nonlinear spectroscopy; he was a co-author with Art Ashkin and Steve Chu on the first demonstrations of optical molasses and of the optical trapping of atoms; he was also instrumental in the development of the concept of EUV lithography. He received a BSE with highest honors in EE-Physics from Princeton University in 1961 and in 1966 he received a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University. His thesis advisor was Tony Siegman. John is a Fellow of the OSA and the APS. He served as an OSA Director-at-Large (1988-90) and as the OSA Treasurer (1992-96). He also served as a Trustee of Princeton University (1991-95).

Lithography: Theory, Problems, Practice Lithography is one of the oldest graphic techniques, developed over 200 years ago in Europe. The name itself has Greek origins, lithos (stone) and grapho (to write) and is one of the most complex art techniques and one of the most autographic of all the print techniques. Lithography has the ability to recreate the very fine nuance, the bold stroke of a pencil or brush with its characteristic qualities intact. Modeling, tonality and the immediacy of the artist's hand are all preserved throughout the process. Lithography has become the technique of preference for many artists both past and present. The aim of this program is to give students and professionals a way to experience the methods of this technique by providing an essential textbook of the different stages of imaging. Lucho Rousanow, the author, is an instructor in lithography, a professional painter and master printer with almost 20 years experience in the arts.
CMET's RM-6000II Stereo-lithography Machine : DigInfo DigInfo (www.diginfo.tv) CMET Inc., which manufactures and sells optical molding systems and resins, exhibited its digital scanner with an 800mW laser that features double the positioning accuracy and repetitive accuracy of conventional equipment at the 19th Design Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions Expo. When data from a 3D CAD system is inputted into this machine, a liquid ultraviolet effect resin enters the machine, and an ultraviolet laser is shined on certain parts of that resin. Only the parts of the resin that are hit by the laser harden, so as the resin is repetitively hardened from the lower layers, a three-dimensional model is formed. This machine is being introduced mainly in the automotive industry, the consumer electronics industry, and in the OA equipment industry.

Waterless Lithography Tutorial This video walks you through the steps of how to do waterless lithography. Waterless lithography is a lithographic process that does not require heavy expensive presses or too many toxic chemicals. It is based in the idea that water and silicone don't mix.
Printmaking Processes: Lithography Lithography works on the principle that grease and water repel each other. There is no carving involved. The artist draws on a stone with a greasy crayon and then covers the stone with a thin film of water. the oily ink will stick to the greasy image but not to the water-covered areas.
