  • Very smart bunny with no boundaries We have a bunny and he's really smart. At first we let him to play all around the house and he was smart enough to come to eat, pee and poo back to his cage. Then we let him to go in the backyard. And he went to play, and after few days went really far away, behind the fence in the bushes. We thought he was gone - but after an hour he came back home. • For Zoe Sadly, we had to put Zoe down on Wednesday. She contracted a mysterious illness about two years ago that blinded her and seemed to attack her nervous system. She was a fighter, though, and stabilized up until a couple of weeks ago. Some of you may know that Zoe's first owners abandoned her in a park. Michelle Kelly rescued and fostered her, and Meg and I eventually adopted her and Simon. She was always a bit shy and almost "wild", but a very sweet rabbit. She and our older bunny, Bob became especially close. Bob is visibly sad now, but Simon, who is usually a bit of a lone wolf has started hanging out with him a lot in the past few days. Zoe and Simon's bonding process with Bob was a long and difficult. One of the things that appeared to calm Zoe was music, especially a Syd Barrett album called "Opel" which we played many, many times during bonding. Here's a little dedication video showing Zoe in healthier times along with a track from the Barrett album. Rest in peace, Zoe.

  • Amazing animals - Pikas Fragment from BBC's Attenborough Explores Our Fragile World about Pikas. The pika, a cousin of the rabbit, is a small chinchilla-like animal, with short limbs, rounded ears, and short tail. The name pika (pronounced /ˈpaɪkə/ PYE-kə, archaically spelled pica) is used for any member of the Ochotonidae, a family within the order of lagomorphs, which also includes the Leporidae (rabbits and hares). One genus, Ochotona, is recognised within the family, and it includes 30 species. Pikas are also called rock rabbits or coneys. It is also known as the "whistling hare" due to its high-pitched alarm call when diving into its burrow. The name "pika" appears to be derived from the Tungus piika, or perhaps from the Russian pikat "to squeak".
