- Recovering navicular horse: post trim lameness check yup, this poor mare was made to jump dawn to dusk every day without any previous gradual training, on shoes, with severely contracted hooves, streched white line and heavily thrushed frogs with prolapsed corium. Result, toe first landing on high impact exercise wich led to navicular and mild laminitis. The mare got to the point she couldn't land a single step without lameness. Her vet said her hooves looked normal and blamed it on arthrosis. (???) There was nothing to loose so, even though I don't have much clinic practice, I do love hooves and asked the owner if she'd be willing to try Pete Ramey's approach. I know navicular pain is tendon related and tendons take about a year to heal, so I warned of that too. Well, 6 months into trimming she was lame free in all gaits. It's been a year now. Hooves still contracted cos she moves very little but far better than last year. Digital cushion getting larger and tougher, frogs thick and hard, sole as hard as the wall and finally getting decent wall thicknes at the heels... behold the marvels of propper barefoot trimming! =DDD

- Equine Lameness Exam of 08.24.10 [partial] My camera failed me, so what you see here is all I got from my horses lameness exam of 08.24.10. He has a few different issues going on. His left hoof is a bit sore near the navicular bone, his left knee has some thickening/crepitus in it. And he frequently skips with his back legs [doesn't put them down when he is supposed to] when he is cantering. See the earlier video "Cash in Slow Motion" if you want to see what he does. The vet suggested he could have a problem with locking stifles in his rear legs, but further study will have to be done either with his vet, or an equine lameness specialist to be 100 percent positive. It was terribly HOT the day of this exam so his time in the clinic's round pen was kept short. This video is in normal speed except for a very small section that I slowed down to show him stumbling on his right rear leg because his fetlock joint locks up and remains bent when he comes down on it. This short clip ends with him drinking water out of a plastic cup held by one of the technicians. He is such a sweet/charismatic/curious/funny/jewel of a horse! Sorry for some of the awful footage, my camera operator at the beginning wasn't paying attention obviously.

Thank you guys for the support and care, i really appreciate it... He has been such and Angel through all of this and stayed happy. It seemed like things just kept getting worse and then finally we had a turn around. Watch to find out? Only one riding clip in here because that was really the day that i noticed he was off and I wanted to be able to see it myself... he's had about 2-3 weeks off now. No mean comments please, feel free to ask questions... i didn't want the video to have anymore text in it then it already has. So i just hope that he remains sound after 5 days and there is no swelling or worsening in his lameness... if all goes well, then he is good to go!

- HORSE TMJ'S / #1 LAMENESS TREATMENT THERE HAVE BEEN LAMENESS ISSUES THAT NO ONE COULD SOLVE OR FIND. WE NOW HAVE THE TREATMENT AND THE PROTOCOLS TO FIND MOST OF THESE LAMENESS ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN ESCAPING US FOR DECADES AND TREAT THEM AT THE CELLULAR LEVEL. WHEN A HORSE HAS AN INJURY THE INJURED CELLS ARE UNDER FUNCTIONING AS A RESULT HAVE A LOWERING OF BIOELECTRIC ACTIVITY, WHICH CAUSES A REDUCTION IN OXYGEN AND BLOOD SUPPLY TO THE AREA OF INJURY. THE LEG SAVER'S WAVEFORM POLARIZES THE CELLULAR MEMBRANES AND INCREAES THE FLOW OF NUTRIENTS TOO AND TOXINS FROM THESE DAMAGED CELLS, WHICH INCREASES THE OXYGEN AND BLOOD SUPPLY TO THE INJURY. - Find The Lameness in the horse Answet to this video here: The horse is three years old turning four. He has been backed four, maybe five times at the date of this video recording. Therefore, it is not a training issue. At three years old, the horse is so lame that he is not capable of trotting with a rider on his back. Can you figure out which limb is hurt. In the next newsletter we will show you where the lameness started, why it shows the way it does and how it was possible to restore soundness. The lameness was not identified until the backing process commenced. It became apparent with the horses adaptation to the riders weight. It should be borne in mind that the weight of the rider will increase two- or three-fold during locomotion and also that more energy is required by a mounted horse. This energy must be obtained by increasing the stance phase as to recover more energy during the swing. (Jose Morales) After a large amount of money spent in photographing, scanning, and injecting every joint of the suspect limb, it was decided that it was a behavior issue since nothing wrong appeared on the medical examination. As it is the case in 90% of the case studies, it was not a behavior issue but rather the expression of pain. Once we addressed the source of the problem, the horse became sound and perfectly willing to move forward. The reeducation lasted three months. At the end of the session under saddle, the horse is somewhat better during a few steps. It was the result of a riding ...

- HOOF LAMENESS 1ON 1 PREPARATION OF THE HOOF FOR A POULTICE PACK.wmv The horse featured in the video originally had a poultice applied using a plastic bag as a bandage. During the twenty-four hours between its application, and the video taken here, the plastic bag wore through and the clean environment was compromised. The result was a thoroughly dirty hoof, that allowed for comprehensive footage of how to prepare a hoof for a poultice. The video navigates through the steps a professional farrier takes to debride(remove keratinous material) the hoof at the site of the abscess, and the subsequent cleaning via providine and chlorhexidine.
