  • Beat Happening "Hot Chocolate Boy" by Jason Ankeny Beat Happening was among the truly seminal and influential American bands of the post-punk era, a paragon of pop minimalism, rebellious innocence, and indie defiance. The linchpin of the Olympia, WA-based International Pop Underground, they adopted a stance in direct opposition to the accepted norms at the heart of rock music; ignoring all notions of pretense, professionalism, and stardom, Beat Happening created an unorthodox, raw sound which democratically rotated vocal, guitar, and drum duties between members while jettisoning bass altogether

  • Dom (House) : by Jan Lenica and Walerian Borowczyk Jan Lenica's checkered career has encompassed excursions into music, architecture, poster-making, costume design, children's book illustration, and all aspects of filmmaking. It is, however, for his animation that he is best known, particularly his collage and "cutout" films, which have their roots in the art of Max Ernst and John Heartfield. The films have influenced the work of Jan Švankmajer and Terry Gilliam. In the 1950s, his films with Walerian Borowczyk led an aesthetic revolution in Poland that sent reverberations all over the Eastern European animation scene. Before Lenica entered the scene, Polish animation consisted mainly of American-influenced character animation, over which the shadow of Walt Disney lugubriously hung, sometimes with vaguely political overtones on the fringe. Lenica and Borowczyk moved the avant-garde into the mainstream. They attempted to forge a new experimental cinema that would coalesce contemporary artistic practices such as abstraction, collage, and satirical surrealism without jettisoning commitment to the Marxist concepts of artistic integration of form and content and art for the masses. Often their films deal with alienation in a modern world, and the challenge of the detritus of history, figured in their use of old newspaper and postcards and the ironic confrontation with the "Great Masters" of painting which consume the protagonist of Once upon a Time . . . . Along with Jiří Trnka's Ruka (The Hand, 1965), Labirynt is considered to be one of the finest political animations ever made. • A new fish has been discovered off the coast of Indonesia A new fish has been discovered off the coast of Indonesia--and besides being beautiful--it has a unique way of moving through the water. Lets take a look. STORY: The University of Washington scientist who this month officially described this new species of fish chose to call it Histiophryne Psychedelica, or H. psychedelica, for it's orange and brown stripes. H. psychedelica was first spotted in the harbor of Ambon Island in Indonesia in January 2008. It took more than a year of testing by the university's Professor Ted Pietsch to establish that it was indeed unique. DNA work revealed that the fish is of the genus Histiophryne along with two other species, although its two cousins are far less spectacular in appearance. The genus is one of about a dozen in the family commonly known as frogfish. Unlike any other known species of fish, H. psychedelica hops along the reefs where it lives, using its fins to push off the surface while squirting jets of water from a gill opening on each side. Other types of frogfish have been observed jettisoning themselves from the ocean floor before swimming but none have been seen hopping. With its tail curled to one side, it has the appearance of a fish without purpose or control. It seems to bounce randomly from rock to rock, protected from sharp coral by thick, gelatinous folds of skin. About the size of an adult fist, the fish also has forward-facing eyes, leading to speculation that it may have binocular vision much like humans. Despite ...

  • Andrew Hill - Solos: The Jazz Sessions The Jazz Sessions spotlights Andrew Hill, a great and even groundbreaking composer and pianist. While many of his contemporaries were totally jettisoning the rhythmic and harmonic techniques of bop and hard bop, Hill worked to extend their possibilities; his was a revolution from within. He exhibited a determined command of his materials, however abstract they might sometimes be. His composed melodies were labyrinthine, rhythmically and harmonically complex tunes that exhibit a sophistication born of mastery, not chance or contingency. As a pianist, Hill had a flowing melodicism and an elastic sense of time. Like his composing, Hill's playing had an ever-present air of spontaneity and was almost completely devoid of cliché.

"On February 13, 1950, a Convair B-36B, serial number 44-92075 assigned to the 7th Bomb Wing at Carswell Air Force Base, crashed in northern British Columbia after jettisoning a Mark IV atomic bomb. This was the first such nuclear weapon loss in history. The Convair had been en route from Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas, on a mission that included a simulated nuclear attack on San Francisco, California. Convair 44-92075 was on a mission that was part of the first full-scale practice nuclear strike against the Soviet Union. Each B-36 involved in this exercise was to conduct a simulated nuclear attack on an American city. The exercise was also intended to test whether the B-36 could attack the Soviet Union during the Arctic winter, when temperatures are so low that if a plane engine were shut down while a plane was being serviced on the ground, the engine could not be restarted. Plane 44-92075 took off from Eielson AFB with a crew of 16 plus one observer. The plan for the 24-hour flight was to fly over the North Pacific, due west of the Alaska panhandle and British Columbia, then head inland over Washington state and Montana. The flight plan did not include any penetration of Canadian airspace. The plane carried a Mark IV atomic bomb, containing a ...
  • Rand Paul: Thought Crime USA 1/2 In this exclusive never-before-seen interview with new United States Senator for Kentucky Rand Paul, the son of Congressman Ron Paul warns that Americans are being politically profiled for thought crimes, while the Obama administration, in particular people like Rahm Emanuel, is seeking to exploit crises in order to advance the big government agenda. Paul pledges to support or introduce legislation that forces lawmakers to read legislation before it can be passed, flying in the face of ludicrous statements from the likes of Nancy Pelosi, who once stated, "We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it." Paul also outlines his mission to reduce the national deficit and balance the budget, reduce the size of big government, and put a halt to the insane money-printing policies of the Federal Reserve, which have recently sparked a global backlash and a new currency war. Senator Paul says that there is a growing unease across America, not just in the liberty movement, but amongst ordinary people he speaks with everyday, that America is in terminal decline, with its manufacturing and monetary foundations being rapidly eroded as our leaders tell us glibly that the answer is to go shopping and get in more debt. Auditing the Fed is a primary concern that Rand shares with his father Ron, along with abolishing many of its powers if not jettisoning the private institution altogether. Paul also warns that political profiling is also in full swing, with Americans being ...

  • Hayabusa Returns To Earth (Japanese Space Probe) - Footage (13th June 2010) A Japanese space probe carrying dust samples from an asteroid has landed in the South Australian outback. The probe landed just before midnight (CST) on Sunday night, the Australian Science Media Centre confirmed. After travelling six billion kilometres in seven years, the Hayabusa explorer incinerated on re-entry after jettisoning a capsule expected to contain the first asteroid dust ever collected, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said. The capsule parachuted to Earth within the Woomera Prohibited Area, a remote military zone 485km northwest of Adelaide. Scientists will retrieve the capsule in the daylight on Monday, and it will then be sealed in an airtight vessel and taken to Japan for study. Hayabusa, the $US200 million ($A235.74 million) project launched in 2003, landed on the asteroid in 2005 and is believed to have collected samples of material from the surface that may shed light on the solar system's origin and evolution. Scientists hope to study how and when the asteroid was formed, its physical properties, what other bodies it may have been in contact with, and how solar wind and radiation have affected it. Hayabusa was originally due to return to Earth in 2007, but a series of technical glitches - including a deterioration of its ion engines, broken control wheels, and the malfunctioning of batteries - forced it to miss its window to manoeuvre into the Earth's orbit until this year. If Hayabusa is indeed carrying asteroid samples, it ...
  • Mexico Detains Drug Cartel Founder Transcript by BY TRACY PFEIFFER You're watching multisource global video news ***ysis from Newsy. Authorities in Mexico have captured one of the country's most wanted crime bosses -- Flavio Mendez Santiago, a founding member of the infamous Los Zetas gang. CCTV outlines crimes allegedly connected to Mendez Santiago and his organization. "Mendez Santiago was accused of taking part in violent killings to eliminate rival drug gangs and trafficking migrants from Central America. He's also said to have smuggled drugs from Central America and Los Zetas is the most feared gang in Mexico. Their vicious tactics, geographic reach, and expansion into new illegal businesses present a new kind of threat in the drug war." The New York Times reports the Zetas are most well known for beheading rival gang members, but they are also relatively new in Mexico. A writer for the Miami Herald gives a brief history. "Originally members of a Mexican army unit, the Zetas ... defected from the military to become enforcers for the [Gulf Cartel] in the late 1990s. Subsequently jettisoning their new employers to become an international organized-crime entity in their own right, in recent months the two groups have waged a brutal battle for control." The story has been greeted with cautious optimism in the media, most of which are looking to the big picture to gauge the possible effects of the catch. • George Clinton - Atomic Dog 1982) The mastermind of the Parliament/Funkadelic collective during the 1970s, George Clinton broke up both bands by 1981 and began recording solo albums, occasionally performing live with his former bandmates as the P.Funk All-Stars. Born in Kannapolis, NC, on July 22, 1940, Clinton became interested in doo wop while living in New Jersey during the early '50s. He formed the Parliaments in 1955, based out of a barbershop back room where he straightened hair. The group had a small R&B hit during 1967, but Clinton began to mastermind the Parliaments' activities two years later. Recording both as Parliament and Funkadelic, the group revolutionized R&B during the '70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from several late-'60s acid heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and Sly Stone. The Parliament/Funkadelic machine ruled black music during the '70s, capturing over 40 R&B hit singles (including three number ones) and recording three platinum albums. By 1980, George Clinton began to be weighed down by legal difficulties arising from Polygram's acquisition of Parliament's label, Casablanca. Jettisoning both the Parliament and Funkadelic names (but not the musicians), Clinton signed to Capitol in 1982 both as a solo act and as the P.Funk All-Stars. His first solo album, 1982's Computer Games, contained the Top 20 R&B hit "Loopzilla." Several months later, the title track from Clinton's Atomic Dog EP hit number one on the R&B charts; it stayed at the top spot for ...

The first of four orbital test flights occurred in 1981 leading to operational flights beginning in 1982, all launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The system is scheduled to be retired from service in 2011 after 135 launches. Major missions have included launching numerous satellites and interplanetary probes, conducting space science experiments, and servicing and construction of space stations. It has been used for orbital space missions by NASA, the US Department of Defense, the European Space Agency, Japan, and Germany. The United States funded STS development and shuttle operations except for Spacelab D1 and D2 — sponsored by West Germany and reunified Germany respectively. In addition, SL-J was partially funded by Japan. At launch, the Space Shuttle consists of the shuttle stack, which includes a dark orange-colored external tank (ET); two white, slender Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs); and the Orbiter Vehicle (OV), which contains the crew and payload. • Qantas Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Bangkok For more news visit ☛ or Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Yet another incident on a Qantas plane to tell you about today. A Sydney-bound flight has made an emergency landing in Bangkok. Passengers say the pilot told them there were engine troubles. A Qantas Airways Boeing 747 plane was forced to turn back to Bangkok and make an emergency landing. An air traffic controller in Bangkok said the pilot sent a message to request landing in Bangkok, citing "technical problems." A Qantas spokeswoman says it's unclear what caused the problem. There were no reports of any injuries or causalities. One passenger said the plane was in the air for around 40 minutes before passengers knew there was a problem. [Christine Cuffs, Passenger]: "We were told by an announcement over the intercom to tell us that there was a problem with the engines and that we would be returning back to Bangkok and if we had looked out to the window, you could see that they were jettisoning fuel." Another passenger said he was advised to leave the plane due to a failed engine. [Keith Leigh, Passenger]: "We were told that there was the problem with one of the engines on the left hand side of the plane. So the plane turned round, discharged the fuel, circled around Bangkok and eventually landed. Then we sat on the runway for half an hour or so and we were told to get off the plane." A mid-air engine explosion in a Qantas A380 last year grounded Qantas' fleet of the super jumbos and shook confidence ...

  • Proof of Chemtrail spraying by 4 jets over England I took this footage in mid November in Berkshire. My brother in law Tony and i were renting a van and i waited outside. Luckily I always take my trusty Sanyo camera everywhere I go. Watch to the end to see my comments and what can only be a convoy of jets doing what they shouldn't. Music is good (Oh. it's what you do to meeee) but then at 2:50 onwards you can see it. It can't be commercial flights because they are all too close together (in my opinion). This really tested the limits if the 60x zoom. The last three images are not mine so full credit to the guys that took them. Fuel Dumping The dumping of aviation fuel is an extremely rare event. Aviation Kerosene is a valuable commodity, and airlines will not want to waste it. Article 56 (3) (b) of the Civil Aviation Air Navigation Order 2000 permits the dumping of fuel in an emergency. It is recommended that jettisoning fuel should be carried out over the sea, or if this is not possible, above 10000 feet to allow it to evaporate before it reaches the ground. Other than in an emergency, when it may be necessary for the captain to reduce the weight of the aircraft quickly to effect a safe landing, jettisoning fuel would constitute an offence liable on summary conviction to a fine of up to £2500 as proved for in Article 122 (5). As in any emergency the pilot and the air traffic controller would normally report the circumstances under the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting Scheme.
  • ANIMAL NATION - RED CRABS CRAZY ANTS Located 223 miles south of Jakarta, Australia's Christmas Island is home to one of nature's greatest, most colourful and most spectacular natural mass migrations. Each year this pristine island?s shoreline is covered with an ankle-deep carpet of red crabs, as the females commence a spawning frenzy, each jettisoning their cache of 100000 eggs into the sea. Yet while this should be increasing their numbers, they are actually dropping - due to an alien invader. During their annual migration across the island many of the crabs are falling victim to the yellow crazy ant, which were accidentally introduced by immigrants more than 50 years ago. These ants have disrupted the status quo and now not only are the red crabs? future in jeopardy but entire ecology of the island is at risk. Available to buy from:
  • MD-80 Tailcone Evacuation Slide This uncommon evacuation exit -- still found today on MD-80, DC-9 and B-717 aircraft -- is unique in that it involves the jettisoning of a complete aircraft part, in this case, the tailcone. For most air carriers, this exit is considered to be a secondary exit, the preferred being the main cabin doors or overwing exits. The opening of the aft pressure bulkhead is designed to actuate the firing of pins holding the tailcone in position. (The door has been designed so that you cannot do this if the aircraft is in flight.) If this does not work, the flight attendant must enter the walkway and then pull the manual tailcone release handle on the aircraft's left side at the end of the walkway. The particular aircraft belonged to Jet America, based out of Long Beach, CA.
  • Rocket Launch 1 - Space Shuttle Launch - NASA - Best Shot Footage - Stock Footage Various Footage of NASA Space Rockets and Space Shuttle Launches. In spaceflight, a launch vehicle or carrier rocket is a rocket used to carry a payload from the Earth's surface into outer space. A launch system includes the launch vehicle, the launch pad and other infrastructure.[2] Usually the payload is an artificial satellite placed into orbit, but some spaceflights are sub-orbital while others enable spacecraft to escape Earth orbit entirely. A launch vehicle which carries its payload on a suborbital trajectory is often called a sounding rocket. The Space Shuttle, or Space Transportation System (STS), is a reusable launch system and orbital spacecraft operated by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for human spaceflight missions. • Massive Attack feat. Horace Andy-Girl I Love You (She Is Danger Remix) In their twenty-plus years of existence, trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack have released only four albums, the most recent being 2003's 100th Window. Seven years later, they're finally turning the page with the guest-heavy Heligoland, due out on February 9 through Virgin. "Girl I Love You" is on there in its original form, endowed with a vocal from frequent collaborator Horace Andy, but here it resides in the hands of rising London duo She Is Danger, who evidently have no interest in jettisoning the group from their comfortably murky, melancholy beat-swamp. Aqueous loops, subterranean bassthe familiar elements are all there for a welcome, triumphant return.
  • Japanese spacecraft 'Hayabusa' - spectacular re-entry into Earth's atmosphere (viewed at 39000') After travelling six billion kilometres in seven years, the Japanese space probe Hayabusa (meaning Peregrine Falcon) incinerated on re-entry after jettisoning a capsule expected to contain the first asteroid dust ever collected. The capsule parachuted to Earth near Woomera, the Australian Defence Force facility supporting the western world's largest defence systems test and evaluation range Hayabusa, the $US200 million ($235.74 million) project launched in 2003, landed on the asteroid in 2005 and is believed to have collected samples of material from the surface that may shed light on the solar system's origin and evolution. Scientists hope to study how and when the asteroid was formed, its physical properties, what other bodies it may have been in contact with, and how solar wind and radiation have affected it. Hayabusa was originally due to return to Earth in 2007, but a series of technical glitches -- including a deterioration of its ion engines, broken control wheels, and the malfunctioning of batteries -- forced it to miss its window to manoeuvre into the Earth's orbit until this year. If Hayabusa is indeed carrying asteroid samples, it would be only the fourth space sample return in history -- including moon matter collected by the Apollo missions, comet material by Stardust, and solar matter from the Genesis mission. • Labyrinth : by Jan Lenica : PART 2/2 Part two of Jan Lenica's "Labyrinth" Made in 1963 Lenica created a self-consciously Kafka-esque tale of a winged lonely man literally devoured by totalitarian rule. Along with Jiří Trnka's Ruka (The Hand, 1965), Labirynt is considered to be one of the finest political animations ever made. Jan Lenica's checkered career has encompassed excursions into music, architecture, poster-making, costume design, children's book illustration, and all aspects of filmmaking. Often their films deal with alienation in a modern world, and ...
